It should be in the same order as the one you use in the boot menu and double check to make sure the partition number and rdisk etc are right. I'd also make sure on default= the partition, rdisk etc matches where \Windows is located so that should be the same. This page explains it better http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000492.htm If you pick the wrong one you'll have to pop in your XP disk and go to recovery console. In the console type FIXMBR that should put things back if you were to pick the wrong one.

Just delete the XP you don't want from the boot.ini file. I'd also make sure default matches the XP you want use.

I'd say it's about the performance of a 6.895 GHz P4.

do you have the full number for the first one 0x with 8 hexadecimal digits it's 0x0000001 missing one number or letter. Usually you can get an idea what the problem is with first number, sometimes it will list the an application where the error occurs also on the BSD. Once you have to code for the first number try looking it up on http://support.microsoft.com/. Also see if it's a stop error.

Do you have any PCI cards? Once I got IRQL BSDs if i put a PCI card in slot 3, so I would try booting with no PCI cards even though it probabley won't be the problem.

Check the cpu settings you'll likely have to change some settings from automatic to manual.
