[QUOTE="urdead18"] if I could get HD 600s for anywhere near $220 I wouldn't hesitate. Heirren

In that case I'd recommend watching the US Amazon site for awhile. I've seen them go on sale multiple times. I got mine around the holidays, but at other times I've seen them for $279.99.

Yeah, thanks, I will but I still think I want one of the Beyerdynamics...

Leaning towards the DT 990 pro for now and grabbing the HD 600s or 650s in the future.

[QUOTE="urdead18"][QUOTE="Heirren"]

Have you considered the Sennheiser HD600s?

Heirren

Yeah, but they'd be around $500 after tax here in Canada.

Wow. I just looked.

Canada $556

US $379

I actually got mine for just under $220 on a "lightning deal". What gives? Is there any way around that?

Yeah it's ridiculous lol. I could ship to relatives in the states and there's places that accept packages temporarily near the border for a $10 fee. Both would require a decent drive but if I could get HD 600s for anywhere near $220 I wouldn't hesitate.

Hi, so I just placed an order for a Fiio E9 and a Fiio D3 and Im trying to decide between these two headphones.

Locally I can get the DT 990 pro for $180 while the 990 premium 600 ohm would cost me $309 + shipping. (I live in Canada)

Is it worth the extra $140 or so for the 990/600?

Thanks :D

If possible you might want to consider cancelling or returning the Fiio combo and spending a little bit more on an Audio-gd NFB-12, a much better amp and dac.

http://audio-gd.com/Pro/Headphoneamp/NFB12/NFB12EN.htm

Also who would you purhcase your headphones from in Canada?

NVIDIATI

Although the warmer sound signature/better amp sounds tempting, that thing is apparently really hard to get a hold of and I don't feel like extending my budget to incorporate the unit+international shipping+duties.(~$300)

Any reputable dealer works for me. Right now I'm looking at Headphone Bar, Long and McQuade, etc...

This article at Head-Fi explains the differences between the two. Personally, though, I'd save my money and go with the DT 990 Pro. I've listened to them: They sound fantastic. They'll also work better with sources that lack an external amplifier, or if your amplifier dies for whatever reason.

Happy gaming,

Boz

Bozanimal

Gah that article made me even more indecisive...says the 600 ohm version has way better bass and more detailed mids with better extension...

On a side note, should I notice a decent difference between my Macbook and the Fiio E9/D3 combo?

Hmm swapped out the OCZ 850W 80 Plus Gold for a Corsair 850W 80 Plus Bronze and saved around $50. Good decision?FPS_Gamer123
Yep. Corsair >>> OCZ.

That's pretty much the perfect build IMO.

Almost part for part with what I'd buy. (Personally I'd get the 64GB M4 instead of the 128GB and a Corsair 600T SE instead of the Phantom)

@Xsan3 AsRock is a subsidiary of ASUS.
