Freakonomics I think is a great read. Not a long one either. You could probably finish it in 6 hours

[QUOTE="v61k"]

Some of my friends are telling me it's bad cause I didn't shoot the whole temple?

MrGeezer

Well, let's put it this way...

I saw the picture. And yeah...it looks nice. But one of the FIRST things I thought is, "why the hell is the temple cropped in half"?

Now, make no mistake. The temple being cut in half was immediately jarring and one of the first things I noticed, but that doeson't automatically mean that the picture is BAD. Hell, there might have been a deliberate reason to cut the temple in half. Maybe you're trying to make a statement about how religion is an incomplete replication of Nature's grandeur? Hell, I don't know.

But...I can kind of take a guess. One of the first things I noticed is, "that temple got chopped in half". I then asked, "why?" And...I couldn't really think of any reasons why, which makes it look like a mistake. Don't get me wrong...I am NOT saying that it's a bad picture, and it DOES look very nice. But you DON'T stand a chance in hell of winning the contest, and the temple is one of the big reasons why.

Also make no mistake...this is also NOT because it's wrong to crop off X with the edge of the frame. That's not the problem here. The problem here is NOT that the temple is cut off by the edge of the frame. The problem is that the picture is composed such that the viewer's eye is DISTRACTED by the way that the temple is cut-off by the edge of the frame. That's the difference, and it is a BIG one. Again, that doesn't necessarily make it a BAD picture. I actually like it very much. But compositionally, the temple being cut off is a big distraction. Apparently several people have quickly stated that the picture draws their eye to the fact that the picture is cut off. That becomes a point of interest that people immediately start to scutinize. And unfortunately...further scrutiny doesn't make the picture look any better. I don't GAIN anything by having my eye drawn to the temple. Instead, it just looks like a mistake.

Anyway, that's just my opinion, and my opinion ain't worth much. Still, it IS a very pretty picture. I just don't think it works. And the temple is a BIG part of the reason why.

Thanks for the honest feedback : )

These are some great shots, I love the way you capture the lighting.

What kind of camera are you using?

WiiMan21

I used a Sony DSC350 camera--nothing special really. Got it for $199 I believe. I really wish I bought a SLR for the trip, but I couldn't afford it.

I'm trying to decide if I should submit that one or this one:
There's something I really love about this shot

Hiroshima.

It's wonderful, but not very fascinating. I think you have a small chance of winning if nobody sends in anything cool lol.Xeros606

Yeah you should see some of the pictures on that site. Crazy. I'm hoping that I at least make it onto some ambigious list haha. Like honourable mention if I'm lucky :P

Special teams = BROKEN. Players don't block at all on punt and kick returns
Defense = BROKEN. Slant and drag routes are pretty much unstoppable. The game is unplayable on All Madden. WR's and HB's will break EVERY TACKLE.
Online play = BROKEN. Everyone online is just abusing the passing game and the running game. You can just use Chris Johnson and run for over 200 yards easily.

Bigger maps and number of players playing at once? That actually ruins multiplayer imo..

I've been going on system wars for 5+ years, and I just randomly thought of this now. Was it voted on or something wayyyy back when Gamespot just started out?
