It did because he damned well deserved it. all he did was make an ass of himself and get a bunch of people killed by failing miserably as a military leader. He should be tried and convicted for all their deaths, really, but it is a Final Fantasy game. His paramilitary is not going to hold a trial against him
I enjoyed XIII alot. I was mesmerized by the graphics, battles are quick paced and enjoyable, although it was linear it got you through the story pretty quick which I liked. But it was a really game.
I look forward to seeing what they do with XIII-2

I do not know why people call the battle fast paced. it feels like they slowed ti down from X, X-2 and XII.
What good are the pretty graphics if you cannot explore the environments they create because it has no exploration at all? Exploration is key to RPGs. if you take it away, it takes away a lot of what is engaging
