What would be really fun is if they threw in a free copy of the movie Titanic, then I watch it while I use Kinect to Bing the definition of metaphor!

That's a shame, I know its still a good game (apparently) but I was hoping this was going to be something special. Ohh well, I might still pick it up on a Steam Sale.

I'm being 100% serious, I just don't know how to say this without sounding a little mean but I'm not trying to but do people really still care about Sonic? I mean after the last decade... it seems like the little blue ball of speed has worn out.

She is (for the most part) right. We are severely lacking in the story department in gaming and we really need to improve if we want to be taken seriously.

What I would say is wrong is that we don't need stories that are more complex, we need stories with more DEPTH. Even the example she cited in Breaking Bad had almost no complexity at all. (SPOILERS FOR Breaking Bad) All it was is 'If I let him live he will hurt me and my family. If I kill him that means I am taking a life which is wrong'. Not very complex, but it has a LOT of depth and made for a fantastic episode. However, I do think she meant depth instead of complexity, people often misuse the words and switch them with one another.

Also, I hope she doesn't leave, she is part of the solution to the problem she is pointing out. I can't say I blame her if she does, but we will be a much better industry if she stays and companies start hiring more people like her.

@JimmeyBurrows Just because there are SOME games with good stories doesn't mean their are many. Getting a job as a writer where you are able to actually make use of your artistic vision is nearly impossible. Most writers are brought in near the end of development after the game is almost complete and basically have to fill in the gaps of what is going on like they're to writers of Samurai Pizza Cats, its only companies like Bioware, Valve, Rockstar, Square Enix, etc. who constantly bring in writers during the entire development process (and S/E has been doing a pretty shitty job of that in many of their recent games, too).

So yes, there are developers who want to make games with good stories. Good luck getting hired by them cause they are too few and far between.

@RedLegZeff She never said that games aren't as capable as other mediums to tell stories. She is saying that games aren't built very often to reach their story telling potential, which is 100% true (which is why she said she can't fulfill her artistic potential in games for another 5 to 10 years, because the industry needs to change).
