A Non-Posting Mood

First off, I'm sorry if I haven't commented in your blog lately... I've been only doing quick checks on GS for the past few days, since I haven't really been in a posting mood lately. In addition, I'm probably going to go through my friends' list and track/un-track some people. This is mostly for people I'm not currently tracking who have been commenting on my stuff and vice-versa, so it's not going to be a drastic clean-up or anything. Just thought I'd let you all know. Also, you might ask what I've been doing the past few days that put me in a non-posting mood? I'll tell you: 1. I've been watching Vol. 2 of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, and even though it's only four episodes, the concepts in this anime are somewhat "out-there", so I'm trying to wrap my head around it. I think I now have a general idea of what exactly the series is about, so I'll see what Vol. 3 has in store later this week. 2. My curiosity with web programming has led me to discover phpBB, an open-source forum software that many other sites use. I set it up on Linux and now I have a test forum website up and running. (It's not accessible to the public, just my machines at home.) This has gotten me thinking - maybe, one of these days, I could scrounge up the money to buy a web server and run a forum of my own. O_o This will not happen overnight, however. First, I have to get a job so I can get my own place, as my folks would NEVER let me run a website from their house. Second, I have to be able to put together a decent server, which takes time and lots of money. So, that dream is shelved... for now. But who knows... one of these days, it might just happen. :P 3. Finally, I'm wrapping up school for the fall semester. I only have two projects left, and once they're done, I'm on vacation for about a month. So, obviously, I've been working on those while I have the time. Well, that's all for now.

So I'm finally getting to play Bowser's Inside Story...

I was going to buy the game myself, but I found out my sis beat me to the punch, so I gave her Partners in Time for the week in exchange for Bowser's Inside Story. (PIT and BIS are games in the Mario & Luigi handheld RPG series, for those of you who don't know.) So far I've played the game for a few hours, and it's definitely an interesting game. Last night in particular was quite fun as I was fighting as "Giga-Bowser" against his own mechanical, taken-over castle. I'm certainly glad there's more to do in this game than in Partners in Time, as the game utilizes the touch screen way more than the previous game (PIT only had one minor occurrence where using the touch screen was necessary, whereas BIS uses it frequently). Not to mention fighting as regular Bowser is fun, too. Hopefully, I'll be able to finish the game before giving it back. In the meantime, I have other things IRL to do besides playing games... school is starting to wrap up the fall semester, and I have a few final projects to complete before all is said and done. Not to mention I've been trying to look for a job, too... except the market for jobs is obviously really bad right now. :( Also, those of you who have been watching my endurance run for Majora's Mask might have heard that I would finish it by Thanksgiving break, but I still have two more game cycles to complete before wrapping it up, so finishing it will have to wait a few more weeks until school is over. I was able to finish part 9, though, and that will be up as soon as I can get to it. Parts 10 and 11 will be long, though... I may have to split those into two or three separate parts depending on the length of each one.

Bowser Never Dies

So I just beat the single-player NSMB Wii yesterday... quite a game, I'd say. Some parts were more difficult than others (I still remember spending 20+ lives in Iggy's Castle #2), but overall it's a decent game. Once my sis comes home and we have the chance to play more multiplayer, I'll put my thoughts down into a review. Also, let me just say the ending is rather silly, but I'm not going to spoil it. :P

My Thoughts on New Super Mario Bros. Wii

So I have been playing NSMB Wii lately, and I am almost done with the 4th world. The game overall is more of the same as other 2D Mario platformers, but in this case, it's a good thing. I do see many similarities with older games, such as New Super Mario Bros. DS (overall look, level design), Super Mario World (Yoshis, some level designs) and especially Super Mario Bros. 3 (Koopa Kids, the airship level, other level designs, usage of map items, some of the minigames, etc.), but I have to say the multiplayer is where it's at. I only played a bit with my sis (who's the only one I can play with when she's around), but it's a lot of fun. Expect a review when I'm done. And I also wanted to say thanks to everyone who came out for my 20K post party both in OT and here in my blog. I'd personally like to thank: MistressMinako, double_decker, Travo_basic, 2ndWonder, JustPlainLucas, horgen123, Cutekitten6_18, everyone who posts in RC, and anyone else I might have forgotten to mention. You're all awesome. :D

Old Car, New Car

Today, at 11 AM ET, I will have my own car again. It's a 1994 Plymouth Voyager minivan, but beggars can't be choosers. Why, do you ask? My mom's getting a new car: a 2010 Subaru Forester. Nice one, eh? This'll be my family's third car bought in three years. The second one they bought was the car I used to drive: a 1997 Ford Taurus that fatally broke down in April. Ironic thing is, it's back on the road, since we sold it to a mechanic. >_> Oh well, at least I'll be back on the road in a car of my own now. Now that I have a car, I'll need to pay for gas and maintenance. So, I'm thinking of getting another job for the rest of my time at school. I might be going back to Quiznos, seeing as they're under new ownership since I last worked there and they seem to be doing well. Not to mention I have over 2 years of experience working for that type of restaurant. This will be temporary, but it'll last until June at the least. In gaming-related news, I picked up Dragon Age Origins for the PC two days ago, and I must say, it draws you in. It might end up being my most-played PC game of all time besides the Half-Life games, lol. So far, I've played through two hours, and it looks really good. BTW, everything you hear about bad graphics is coming from console players, because if you have a good enough PC like mine, the graphics aren't an issue. The system requirements for DA:O are rather high on PC, but if you built or bought a high-end system within the last year or so, you shouldn't have a problem. That's all from me right now. Majora's Mask Endurance Run Part 7B should be up on my YouTube space by the end of today. In the meantime, I made this video a few days ago: [video=d3w1lTSo5bIEszHa]

Update on Majora's Mask ER

Yes, I know I haven't posted anything for my endurance run in two months... but that will change soon. Once I get some minor stuff with school out of the way (which should take a few days), I'll record my commentary for part 7B and put it up on YouTube. The alternative would be to wait until Thanksgiving break for my sister to come home, but I know you guys don't want to wait for that. :P So expect part 7B to be up by the end of the week. Sorry again for the long delay, but school has been a factor in keeping me from doing this.

The latest victim of the tagging craze =x

My newest friend talonkarrde07 just tagged me. Now I have to tell you guys about myself... so here goes: 1. I live in New York's "Capital Region" and have lived there for my whole life. 2. I like the city better than the country. Go figure. 3. I'm a college student who's on track to graduate in May. My major is Computer Information Systems. 4. I have worked in four different places: McDonald's, Quiznos, Dunkin' Donuts, and the state education department. 5. I enjoy rock music (classic, alternative, heavy metal, etc.) 6. My pastimes include gaming (duh), working on computer programs, and web browsing. And now for three other users to tag: I choose martialbullet, SeraphimGoddess, and samuraiguns (all random, lol). Now don't tag me again! :x
