8950 GX2 and 8900 are rumoured for release this year, the 9 series sometime early next year. Then again these are rumours, but this seems to be the strongest out-come at this stage.
Wait until next month then start reading some more forums, no doubt there will be something else placed into the rumour mill...exciting stuff

How long is a piece of string?

It seems a bit pointless asking these types of questions when the cards haven't even been released, or the fact that crysis hasn't been released either.

If your constantly waiting for new hardware to come out, you'll never end up buying anything.

IMO, get what ever the latest and greatest is, forget about SLI unless your running crazy resolutions and accept the fact that your hardware will be out-dated within a year or 2.

To my knowledge, no one has a crystal ball, and if they do......lucky :)

it happens quite often to me as well, once the servers up-date go kill someone and you should gain your rank, works for me.

I know this is properly an age old question but I'll ask it again anyway:
Would it be better to run an SLI system now (high-end GPUs), so up-grading wouldn't be required for a couple of years (maybe 3 years)
or
Get a single, high end GPU now and up-grade on a frequent basis, say every year?
things to note:1; who cares whether current games can't/dont need an SLI system to run, this is all about practicality.2; cost isn't a factor (this is a hypothetical question).3; serious opinions please :)
thanks

first thing, I would never buy from PB tech, I got my first PC thru them long ago and they manage to ballz up installing windows and when I took it back to them I didn't see the computer for a week (a team of over-weight technicians scratching their heads), their follow up support is completely lame. Also they're expensive, build your own machine and save your self some money.

Well, Sof2 is still one of the most fun games I've ever played, nothing quite like getting a shot gun and blasting bad guys in half then watching thier guts spew out on the floor whilst they cry in pain. The graphics are dated BUT they sure are detailed...fantastic stuff.
and YES, I am a graphics whore.
Graphics are like chicks, if they dont look good, I wont waste my time (unless the game play is SUPER SUPER good ;-)

WoW is/was a great game, but for me the expanion ruinded it. Effectivtly dumbing down the game and de-funking previous end-game content (what was the point of grinding MC or BwL?). I think too many noobs (i hate to say it) now play WoW..........or maybe I've been playing the wrong servers for too long, 2.5 + years has killed the love for me.
I've been playing Lotro since beta, though I find the game play not as fast as WoW, it is still kinda fun. Over all game play is as repeatative as WoW, though not as bad (grinding 5K gold for epic flying mount!?). The game is still young and it shows when entering high pop areas (bree town lag anyone?) and the servers arn't as stable as any of the WoW servers I've played. So for me, lotro is it for the moment, though it didn't have the excitment woW did when I first started playing it, but its growing on me (or maybe I just want to like it?).
as Gw, never played it. I've got friends who think its the best thing since sliced bread, but this was a time when (for me) WoW was it, no way I was gonna touch GW (it looked good and all that, but....).
At the end of the day, I'll jump ship on both games when Conan comes out later this year, go the core and cool combat system (a breath of fresh air in mmo's)
