The Hospital Window

A great note for all to read it will take just 37 seconds to read this and change your thinking.

Two men, both seriously ill, occupied the same hospital room. One man was allowed to sit up in his bed for an hour each afternoon to help drain the fluid from his lungs. His bed was next to the room's only window. The other man had to spend all his time flat on his back. The men talked for hours on end. They spoke of their wives and families, their homes, their jobs, their involvement in the military service, where they had been on vacation.

Every afternoon when the man in the bed by the window could sit up, he would pass the time by describing to his roommate all the things he could see outside the window.

The man in the other bed began to live for those one hour periods where his world would be broadened and enlivened by all the activity and color of the world outside.

The window overlooked a park with a lovely lake. Ducks and swans played on the water while children sailed their model boats. Young lovers walked arm in arm amidst flowers of every color and a fine view of the city skyline could be seen in the distance.

As the man by the window described all this in exquisite detail, the man on the other side of the room would close his eyes and imagine the picturesque scene.

One warm afternoon the man by the window described a parade passing by.

Although the other man couldn't hear the band - he could see it. In his mind's eye as the gentleman by the window portrayed it with descriptive words.

Days and weeks passed.

One morning, the day nurse arrived to bring water for their baths only to find the lifeless body of the man by the window, who had died peacefully in his sleep. She was saddened and called the hospital attendants to take the body away.

As soon as it seemed appropriate, the other man asked if he could be moved next to the window. The nurse was happy to make the switch, and after making sure he was comfortable, she left him alone.

Slowly, painfully, he propped himself up on one elbow to take his first look at the real world outside.

He strained to slowly turn to look out the window beside the bed.

It faced a blank wall. The man asked the nurse what could have compelled his deceased roommate who had described such wonderful things outside this window.

The nurse responded that the man was blind and could not even see the wall.

She said, "Perhaps he just wanted to encourage you."

Epilogue:

There is tremendous happiness in making others happy, despite our own situations.

Shared grief is half the sorrow, but happiness when shared, is doubled.

If you want to feel rich, just count all the things you have that money can't buy.

"Today is a gift, that's why it is called the present."

Hope you enjoyed reading this as much as i have and have a great weekend!!! cheers, w_c

Near car accident!!!!

Today I was trying to park in between two cars... didn't realize that the car behind me was too close and I crashed into the car!!! I was so lucky that I didn't damage that car or mine!!! Gosh I was so nervous!!! My parents would have so killed me!!!! Lol never going to park between two cars for a while now!!!

It isn't the first time. I have done once too, luck thing I wasn't going to fast either, so I didn't even damage the other car too. They don't know any thing about both incident!!!

Lol the first time I tried parking in between two cars I manage to squeeze in between, but I was jutting out so I kept trying, and guess what!!! The owner of the car behind me came out of a house across the road from where his car was parking and decided to move his car behind more, so that I can park... poor guy... lol he must have a heart attack.... Lol

It's not that I'm a bad driver... don't think so any way, but it's just that I can't judge. I hate it!!! I hate doing that kind of park too. I normally drive into a car park, if u know what I meant. I have been having my driving license for about 7-8 months.

InNew Zealand it takes about 2 years to get your license. Learners (where you only drive with people) you can get it at age 15 (too early!!!) and have the license for 6 months, then restricted (you drive from 6am - 10pm, no passengers!!!) and have the license for 1-1½ years, and finally full!!! By the time you get your license you be about 17.

For me I could get my learners December 2001, but I got it in October, and kept my learners for just about 5 ½ years!!! lol and march this year I got my restricted!!! Finally!!! Love my driving license, I can go where ever I like.

I did two blogs in one day, because I wanted to talk about what happen to me today. Hope I haven't bore you guys with my car life story... lol

Beware of Gabage truck!

Hi all hope you enjoy this story as i did when i recieve it,

Interesting story from David Pollay (he's a motivation Trainer)....

How often do you let other people's nonsense change your mood? Do you let a
bad driver, rude waiter, curt boss, or an insensitive colleague ruin your
day? Unless you're a robot, you are bound to blow your top off. However,
the mark of a successful person is how quickly he or she can get back his or
her focus on what's important.

Sixteen years ago, I learned this lesson. I learn it at the back of a New
York City taxi cab. Here's what happened.

I hopped in a taxi, and we took off for Grand Central Station. We were
driving in the right lane when, all of a sudden, a black car jumped out of
a parking space right in front of us. My taxi driver slammed on his brakes,
skidded, and missed the other car's back end by just inches!

The driver of the other car, the guy who almost caused a big accident,
whipped his head around and he started yelling bad words at us.

My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy. And I mean he was really
friendly. So, I said, 'Why did you do that? This guy almost ruined your car
and sent us to the hospital!'

And this is when my taxi driver told me what I now called, 'The Law of the
Garbage Truck'.

Many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage, full
of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment. As their garbage
piles up, they need a place to dump it. If they happen to dump it on you,
don't take it personally.

You just smile, wave, wish them well, and moved on. You'll be happier if
you did that rather than fight them.

So this was it: 'The Law of the Garbage Truck'.

I started thinking, how often do I let garbage trucks run right over me?
And how often do I take their garbage and spread it to other people: at
work, at home, on the street? It was that day I said, 'I'm not going to do
it anymore.' I see garbage trucks everywhere and everyday. I see the load
they're carrying. I see them coming to drop it off. And like my taxi
driver, I don't make it a personal thing; I just smile, wave, wish them
well, and I move on.

Good leaders know they have to be ready for their next meeting. Good
parents know they have to welcome their kids home from school with hugs and
kisses. Teachers and parents know that they have to be fully present and at
their best for the people they care about.

The bottom line is that successful people do not let garbage trucks take
over their day. What about you? What would happen in your life, starting
today, if you let more garbage trucks pass you by?

Here's my bet. You'll be happier.

So...love the people who treat you right.
Forget about the ones who don't.
Believe that every thing happens for a reason.
If you get a chance, TAKE IT!
If it changes your life, LET IT!
Nobody said it would be easy...
They just promised it would be WORTH IT

Cheers!
"Life is short. Enjoy the journey."
