"and unlike the console business where those key franchises are going to be available on multiple consoles, the only way you're going to be able to play Call of Duty in a portable environment... is on a PlayStation Vita, and not only a derivation of those franchises but really a console quality game".-Jack trenton (CEO of SonyComputerEntertainmentAmerica)
Yup pretty much it means that it wont be a port, or a multiplatform release. This also confirms that its most likely an FPS instead of a spinoff. Go to IGN for the interview that was posted today.

Expect to see a lot of multiplat handheld games this gen. Most of em would be 3ds graphics with cheap port to the vita. This wasnt possible on the psp and the ds, since psp lacked a touch screen and the ds lacked analogue stick or proper 3d graphics.

[QUOTE="waoasis"]Well if it is indeed a big leap that should be somewhat qualified as next gen graphics, I dont think he would say anything like that. By saying the wii u is not significantly stronger than current gen consoles, it will dissapoint fans thus reducing stocks and sales of the system. Remember this is a market. Nintendo's job is to make fans want to buy the system. Evem if its not a big upgrade such as the ps2 to ps3, he would exaggerate the consoles power in order to persuade the fans. It's all about money in the market.

The specs for the system, as well as the games, as well as the developers, have all confirmed that the system is quite a bit more powerful than current systems. Nintendo themselves have never said anything about the system's power, save for that one statement, which, now it seems was made to stop people from overhyping its power. It'll be 3-5 times more powerful than the HD twins. I would argue that is enough.

I dont know so much about specs and such, but remember, some devs said 3ds graphics are on par with X360. Yeah and it turned out its on par with the wii. So far devs never specified a specific number about the wii u's graphical strengh. For now we can only assume. For the games, only games that are shown are ports and zelda. I know you said that gameplay outperforms techdemo in ninendo's case; but you never know, nintendo has changed these days.

It's a counter assumption, though. You interpret Miamoto's words as 'not significantly more powerful than current gen consoles,' assuming that is what he means. I interpret it as 'not a significant quantum leap like the PS3,' assuming that is what he means. We are both assuming here. The question is, which of us are closer to the truth with our assumptions?

[QUOTE="waoasis"]

You're trying too hard to defend nintendo. I dont have a problem with NIntedo wii u's graphics, but ur making things up and asuming everything at this point. Besides why are you talking about NG Xbox and playstation? This thread is about Wii U graphics in comparison to current gen.

What did I make up? Name one thing in that post that I claim is fact that i made up.

Ok mabye I did word it a little weirdly. You didnt make things up, but a lot of your arguement is based on assumptions that are not confirmed yet to be 100% true.

a) Will not be 'SIGNIFICANTLY' more powerful. What is significantly more powerful? 10 times? twenty times? Maybe he means that the leap won't be as big from a PS3 to Wii U as it was from the PS2 to Xbox 360. That certainly means his comment makes more sense- 'a balance has to be struck between performance and power.' This means that we should not expect Nintendo to go power crazy like Sony did with the PS3, and that the Wii U will be a much more reasonable power upgrade to keep costs (both hardware and software) in check. NOWHERE DOES IT SAY THAT THE INCREASE IN POWER IS 'MARGINAL.' b) Miyamoto is 'unsure of how the Wii U stacks up compared to the PS3/360.' The article is three months old, when the final dev kits weren't even created. Now that they have started going out to developers, we have people from Bethesda, Epic, Crytek, Rocksteady, Irrational, Team Ninja and more singing praises about its power and how its a powerful machine. Miyamoto himself was unsure of the Wii U's power. THREE MONTHS AGO. Today, we have proof, in the form of developers working on the system as well as leaked specs, that the Wii U in fact represents quite the leap over the HD twins. Not as crazy a leap as the PS3 was over PS2, but certainly more than enough to be quantified as a full generational leap. c) For the final time, we cannot simply assume that the next Xbox or Playstation will be powerhouses. Sony has stated multiple times that it wants to capitalize on the Cell architecture to recoup on the heavy losses incurred on the PS3, and that the next Playstation will be more of an incremental upgrade compared to the PS3. They have also stated that they wish to broaden the appeal of the Playstation brand, and that they will be going after an expanded audience. Microsoft has demonstrated that it is willing to drop the ball on the hardcore market in favor of the casual market WITHIN THIS GENERATION with the Kinect. Their next system might entirely be Kinect centric, and might pull a Wii. But of course, fanboys will ignore the above three perfectly reasonable arguments as long as it gives them a reason to hate :roll:charizard1605

The console has to be at least a generational leap over the PS3/360 to run its Zelda/Garden tech demos at 1080p 60fps.ActionRemix

Tech demos generally look much better than real gameplay videos.

Nintendo's next console, the Wii U, will not be significantly more powerful than the consoles in the current generation like the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 miyamoto said.

The new console will strike a balance somewhere between bringing in high-definition graphics and performance and remaining cheap and accessible for gamers, he said. The Wii was not a graphics powerhouse like the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, but the console was much cheaper and made its retail debut at $250. The Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 were both at least $100 more expensive than the Wii, though the price for each console has fallen significantly since then.

The new console will come out sometime next year, Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata said. The company unveiled the console at the Electronic Entertainment Expo earlier this month. Nintendowants to include "something for everyone" in the new console, Iwata said at E3. That's probably an attempt to silence critics of the original Wii, which some said did not have enough content for hardcore gamers who were looking for good games from Nintendo's main franchises.

Nintendo showed off the third-party games that would come with the Wii U at its press conference at E3, and the graphics were impressive. Those titles include the likes ofTekken, Batman Arkham City, Assassin's Creed and Darksiders 2. They're all hardcore titles that feature high-quality graphics and massive production values. But Nintendo later admitted that the demo reels the company showed at its press conference were not real graphics of the wii u

The first Wii was a huge success for Nintendo and started the motion gaming craze, leading Sony and Microsoft to also release motion controllers for their home gaming consoles. The Wii sold more than 86 million units total and was a smash hit with casual gamers. It has one of the widest install bases in the world and for a long time was the console to beat after it was released, with retail outlets selling the consoles literally minutes after they hit the shelves.

The Wii is credited with bringing home console gaming to more mainstream audiences, particularly casual gamers that wouldn't typically go for a home gaming console like the Xbox 360 or the PlayStation 3. It included games like Wii Sports and Wii Fit, which were non-traditional titles that sold incredibly well thanks to the immersion of motion controllers and the Wii Balance Board.

The device features a controller with a touch screen, camera and microphone. It looks like the bottom half of the Nintendo 3DS and Sony's PlayStation Portable, with the screen in the center that changes with the game. The controller can display and run games when they aren't available on the TV.

I know this is old news, but I'm here just to clarify.
