only 1500, i got around 30,000 points and I'm a Lt. Col. The secret is to find out how to win the Good Conduct Ribbon, Merit Badge, Legion of Merit Badge, and assault, recon, engineer, support service badges. I went from Sgt. to Lt. Col in two weeks when I found out how to do that.
if by buying you mean buying all the parts and building from scratch then yes i am buying a new PC. I estimate it will be in the 700 to 1000 dollar range
it's worth it. It's easy to join a game with a friend(s), see who's online or offline, see what your friend(s) are playing, talk to your friends, and there's a big community.
