i posted this in the audio video forums but nobody has helped.I just purchased a home theatre system and im trying to hook up my 360 to it,but unfortunatley i have been unsuccessful.I have my surround hooked up to my tv through hdmi,my 360 as well but when i put it on auxilary and turn on my 360 i dont get any sound.Do i need another cable or do i need to connect things differently...any help is very much appreciated...thanks mrmoeone

Okay, you have to connect your hdmi cable from your xbox to your surround, not your tv. Then switch the surround home theatre input to game or xbox and you should be good to go. Your TV should be connected to a satellite/or cable box via hdmi cable.

Okay, so just about every time I try to play a game on LIVE, the other players have like one or two slots (pings) on their connection status, but I always have a full bar. This gets really frustrating, because what should be a fun and enjoyable game is made into a sloth-fest where the lag's presence becomes so great that you could probably get up from the television, walk over to the refrigerator and make a sandwich (and possibly even eat it) till players creep up on you in a deathmatch or the enemy comes along in co-op.

Why do so many players have crappy connections, and is my own bar accurate or does everyone else seem to have full bars but run into other people with low ones? I have DSL, I am really not sure what kind of connections these other people must have, and how many different gadgets they have hooked up to it.

NEVER choose quick play or quick search. I know its fastest way to start playing, but choose or create a match using your own preferences like kits and locked servers. Best way to enjoy the live experience is to find 20-25 people who play that game alot nightly, then add them under a category and name it ghost recon or whatever then when you play you never have the lag because they are dedicated players thatflow with your connection. You said you have dsl, but what level? Sorry, dsl pro wont cut it. You need fios or DSL elite, cable is okay i guess.

Has nothing to do with dsl or cable. Your display on your screen might indicate full green bars, but if you have wireless transmitters such as cell phones, headsets, a fan, Directtv box, surround entertainment etc, it will interfere with your connection, even though your displaying a good connection. Try adjusting your filter levels on the dashboard. By enabling a filter, you can be matched based on your connection or better, so when you connect, it filters out the connections lower than yours,

i work for Microsoft, and i must say, out of the millions of first year consoles, a 3% had issues that same year. 12% have had issues with the console years after. So its a small percentage. Every thread i read about defective XBOX360's, are due to some sort of mishandling at home. Its almost impossible to believe that some of you have repaired your xboxs 3-5 times. Once fixed, the chances of it dying is pretty slim. SO, before any other complaints, check yourselves at home, plenty of you dont explain to Microsoft what are the probable causes because you guys are scared they might reject your repair. I usually charge for my time and info, but since i just got promoted, i want to give you guys a gift tonight. Causes that crash your console. I. The xbox as you know, use a lot of power. So, when hooked up via HDMI, you should lower the TV energy saver to off. Playing with the high energy increases the durability of the console, especially if you play more then 6 hours at a time. II. Insects, yes insects, A LOT of the consoles sent to us to repair have been found inside the console. We find a lot of roaches inside consoles. III. Plugging the console onto an outlet is a bad idea. This also creates heat you dont need. DO NOT PLACE on wood laying down, best place is glass. i can keep a list going, but i wrote enough, and there are so many possibilities why the xbox dies. SO please, start at home. Smoking, also interferes with drives sensitive towards inhaling it as a liquid vapor. DIGITAL SMOKE. You guys just have to grow up and treat it with care. S&%# happens, but in A LOT of our cases, it has been from mishandling at home. at least 75% of our stats.
