From everything I have read and from people I know, yes the new Vizio TVs are really good for their price compared to other TVs in the same price range. However, for gaming Panasonic plasmas do seem to be the best bang for your buck. Of course the Panasonic I mentioned is actually a little cheaper than a comparable Vizio at nearly the same screen size. And all of my recent research has pointed in the direction of Panasonic Plasma TVs having superior picture quality and less input lag than any LCD or LED, maybe the more expensive LEDs can compete, but I'm not rich. Now I am by no means a Plasma fan, as a matter of fact before last week I absolutely would not even consider a plasma, from all of the bad crap I've heard about them over the years. But right now I'm almost sold on the particular Panasonic plasma because for me the most important factor in buying a TV is how well it will operate my games. I don't watch much TV but I spend a lot of my free time with my consoles and at under $800 for a 46" its awfully tempting.
I am now eyeing the Panasonic VIERA TC-P46S30 46-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV which for $800 seems like it is a sexy TV. With it being plasma I am worried that it will be crappy during the day though. I also have a 6 year old who would probably end up leaving the TV on a screen from time to time when he is playing games, which makes me worry about image retention that plasmas are notorious for. I know the new Panasonic TVs ares supposed to be good about that and it isn't as much of an issue anymore but still... Does anybody have experience with this TV? The better picture and low input lag of plasmas is very appealing to a gamer.
I am finally going to be moving up from a CRT SDTV to a new HDTV after many years of wanting to. I have been trying to research TVs to find the best 1 for me but so far haven't had much luck. So if any of you guys or girls know of any superb TVs for gaming please post it with specs and explain to me why it is so great. While I do want a TV that will play movies well, the most important factor is how well the TV I purchase can handle my video games (PS3 and 360) and if i go with a 32" I'll probably want to use it as a monitor sometimes. I want to avoid input lag as much as possible but I'm worried that if I go with a plasma it'll suck during the day. The low input lag is one of the most important factors for me and it is one of the hardest to find anything about when researching TVs, nobody seems to care about gaming when reviewing TVs... But I play games in every genre, shooters and fighters online, you can see why I'm so worried about input lag lol. I want my purchase to feel like a huge leap forward from the ancient CRT SDTV and not a trip back in time. My current TV is going out so I have been researching this all the time lately, plus a shiny new TV for Gears 3 would be epic. So I really want to finally be able to get the new TV. Anyway enough of my rant. Here's what I know I want: {1080p preferably less than 5 ms response time 32" - 47" A game mode would be nice somewhere under $1000 I do not want a 3D TV} Also I have been hearing a lot about Vizio being good TVs but I feel like they would probably suck for gaming, does anyone have any experience with Vizio? I've seen that a few have 5 ms response time, seems like it could work.
