What I mean is, when it says "Connecting User account: Username", the app freezes. So, as a result, I can't even log in. I have to go into task manager and close the program that way. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program, but I always get the same result.

I just bought Half-Life 2:Game of the Year edition. I installed everything that came with it, including Steam. Now, my problem is that whenever I try to log in to my (newly created) account, the application (Steam) freezes!(As in, when I open task manager it says"not responding") I do not understand why. Any help would be appreciated. Oh, and just so you know, I have no familiarity with Steam.

This thread should have died long ago, but my fellow sheep had to be, for lack of a better word, "idiots", and post here, trying to prove yo-foo wrong. The thing is, you can't change his mind. So, let's give this thread the little pill, and let it die, hmm?
