@horgen: in the past the weavers in England where replaced by machines and they almost burned down the country...in the past there was allways something around the bend.
not for everyone mind you but for enough to prevent civil war discontent etc....
from the bronze age and on there was allways something ...lost jobs might ment better food production and time to study and master new arts...
allways there was something new moving from farms into the citys but it never was peacefull..we know this from europes wars and revolutions that spread like wildfire from the day after our mighty nation was founded...
we know this from china's long history.
never before was there anything like automation or a population like today......there was allways natures way of culling the herd when too many moved too close to each other....we know this from romes long history and the dark ages.
if you look at world population today and look at 2054 you see at some point the world cant surport 9 billion or 10 the exact number is unknown where resources are lesser than what mankind can survive in....we know this from europes dark ages and the population crash and the new world...we know some great change or event wiped out 1/3 of Europe and it took over 200 years to balance out..
automation comes in just as we exceed the population cap and force humans into conflict with each other over resouces.we seen this before in europes wars but we never seen anything that take away jobs like automation.
automation is the replacement of humans from the workforce plain and simple....mass production without the need for human interaction.
50% unemployment by 2050 at a time when the population cap of 10 billion hits ......two unrelated events in a event horizon...
a singler event in the epoch of man.
no jobs lots of people and nothing to do we seen what happens in the arab springs ......think of that with no food few resouces and you get a mighty grim picture.....people ask why is isil doing what they are doing.....outside or Syria or Iraq.....the awnser is simple....lack of hope and a power struggle....
when a 3d printer can make another 3d printer then what if left in the end........automation is exactly that...the machines start to remove workers then reproduce themself.....like a virus .
automation is exactly like a virus really....it sole purporse is to displace everything and reproduce.....you think it good because it give you cheap tech but at a cost ...the cost is you have no job and cant afford even the cheapest of products it can make......no jobs for worker mean no taxes for goverments....
the Spanish and dutch faces these issues before....a good read on it would be why the Spanish would only allow 2 ships a year between manila and mexico.....only 2 ...why....because it would destroy spain like it did with the dutch...too much trade can be a very bad thing...too much spice or silver or gold or even silk...
automation is this exact problem too a tee.
the replacement of workers then of there taxes then of there stable goverments....then whats left.....what there allways was....WAR.
ever wonder why Europe never had peace ever......they needed war to keep civil war at bay...
i don't expect anyone to understand automation here.....you need only understand what a virus is ...because that is what it is....the displacement of everything.
one might think this is far too grim or would never happen today...we are safe ......what would history say about safe?
history most clear on this....10,000 years is a long time and in that time some thought they where safe in a single time or place....we know now that vanished overnight ...we seek clues as to why.....why would a people so safe vanish overnight?
because nothing is forever.....we forget that.....we don't see automation coming because we rather watch zombie movies and rave about GMO and polar bears and things that don't happen for 100 years......we wont last that long......history most clear there.....
