[QUOTE="xXDamienXx"]Lord, you said that we didn't see any mobile x1900's, but mobile 7900's were made for laptops so it is possible. I guess ATI is slacking on the mobile aspect. I mean how long did it take nvidia to make the mobile 7900 after introducing the desktop one? I see that dual 7900's are possible in a laptop and I would imagine that would generate a lot of heat, so what would be so difficult about making a stripped down 8800 into like I dunno 8400...lol? Is ddr4 required for G80? Again all I care about is the dx10 support.LordEC911

Well if you noticed I didn't say that ATi was lacking in the mobile area, because they are not, they just couldn't effectively cut the heat of their x1900.
The 7900 runs much cooler than any x1900, which is still true today.
Mobile 7900's are slightly cutdown desktop cards, technically, which makes them even cooler, I guess cool enough to go SLI.
If ATi didn't make a mobile x1900, I highly doubt nvidia has the capability to do it, unless like I said before, they drastically modify and slow down the card.

DDR4 is not required for the G80, that is why you see DD3 on it atm.
But DDR4 will cut down the power consumption, which means less heat.

Oh I see, but could they make a mobile g80 with the same specs as a 7900, but with just dx10? Or would there be no point?

codezer0, thanks for the response, but with such a highend laptop battery life is the least of my concerns. I"m just concerned about graphics power because I'll just have it hooked into a wall.

I really don't think it would cost nearly as much as 7,000+ because I go to Velocity Micro's sight and configure their best laptop for less than 3,500. I know a mobile g80 and quad core would make it more, but highly doubt anything close to 7,000.

Crap that sucks. I guess I'll just settle with dual core and current gen gpu's.

I know  they both practically just came out for desktops, but would like to know when they're coming out for laptops. I was going to buy a gaming laptop for supreme commander and wondered if they'll come out by then.
