OK, here is the latest. I sat on the phone for 45 minutes last night to ask when my shipping box would arrive. (I reported the 360 failure on July 2, and the box was promised to arrive within four days.) After getting shuffled around India a little I finally talked to an American dude who gave me a new service request number and promised the box would arrive by the end of the week. I checked Xbox.com, and I have a UPS number, though they have not picked up the box yet. That is progress, anyway. Not sure if there are others out there like me, but it appears we have to make noise to get action.
Hey guys, on Sunday I was playing my 360 and all of the sudden the 360 makes a horrible grinding noise and and freezes so I turn it back on a gain and it works fine for aout5 minutes then it does it again. I turn it on again because I'm getting angry and I see three red lights. Well so I call Microsoft and tell them it's not working and they tell me that I just need to reboot it. So this time it seems like it's going to work and all of the sudden it does it again, I am persistent and I turn it on again and yet again it freezes. But my problem is that it does not have the 3 lights about 50% of the time that I turn it on. So I am worried when it will get down to Texas it will work and they will not have the Patience to see if it works for more then 2 seconds and the y will ship it back to me with the problem unsolved. Can someone please reassure me about this, because I'm worried that they will think nothing's wrong with it and they will just send it back to me unfixed.Powerhitter0418

Someone on the other forum topic (Broken 360) said they got an e-mail stating up to six weeks! I am still waiting for the shipping box, and I reported my problem July 2.

[QUOTE="hoankiemdinh"]

[QUOTE="blakemurray"]Does anyone know what the turnaround time is right now for fixing the Red Ring of Death? They received mine a few days ago and was wondering what kind of time frame to expect on getting it back. I have read somewhere that it is taking from 3 to 5 weeks now. Has anyone who has sent theres in to get fixed in the last couple of weeks hear anything?insane_metalist

O I don't know and I'm sorry, but when you called them, how long did it take them to send you the box? I'm still waiting for mine.

its longer then they say. they said 3 days for me and i received mine after 7

Seems I read somewhere that KOTOR3 was coming out, but I see no mention on the Bioware website.

Dont expect to hear anything about a Kotor 3 for some time. The developers who made it have been working on Mass Effect. Not sure what they are going to do after that launches though.

First, I would take it back to the retailer. They should replace it if it is a recent purchase. Also, try disconnecting and reconnecting the power cable. That could be the problem. You will find that advice on the Xbox website support page. Finally, check out the last couple of pages of the "Broken 360" discussion thread.

My buddy across the country just bought a 360 from BestBuy. He got home and tried to hook it up and he said he has the red ring of death and can't get anything working. The official thread is tooo deep to wade through. Quick question is should that light be on right away? Maybe his controler isn't hooked up or something?

Thanks.

I agree about the 3-year warranty. Timing could hardly be worse. Now there will be a terrible backlog. I wonder if the game publishers are aware that Microsoft is undermining their potential profits: people will not buy games if they do not have working consoles.

My unit died on July 2. I reported it then and am still waiting for the shipping box they are supposed to send. You guys are not very encouraging. I guess my timing is terrible.I tried to call, but could not get through. I sent an e-mail today, but as yet, no response. I will keep you posted.
