Addicted to Lego...

Hello all. I hope the few of you who are still active are well. It feels good to be back on gs, shame that its so quiet in the unions though. I got through my first year of uni with really good grades, I took four modules/subjects and got 2:1's and 1sts in them (that's really good, 60% and over) which I am really pleased with. Recently I have been playing on the lego games produced by travellers tales cos I have nothing better to do over the summer :). I have completed lego star wars: the video game and I have just started indie. I have got babs browsing ebay frequently for star wars II and batman.

I really like the games cos you have to collect studs (lego pieces) and solve puzzles to complete the levels. Before completeing star wars I completed kingdom hearts 1 and with mike's help kh2. I actually prefer kh1 now because there is more puzzle solving and more secrets in the levels. Babs and mike have both recently completed harry potter and the half blood prince. But they found it boring and repetitive :( But mike liked the fact that youget a platinum trophy for collecting all of the crests, which appears beside your name on ps3 wifi. If anyone can recommend a trophy collecting game on ps3 mike would appreciate it :)

There is a light at the end of the tunnel!!

Hooray!!! I made it! I got through level 20!! Wooo! I would like to take this moment to thank all of my esteemed colleagues, friends and the mentally insecure for making this dream a reality, I would have never done it without you....blah..blah..yada...yada... :D

Did anyone who lives in the UK watch the finale of doctor who? I think they did a great job :D They writers never seem to run out of great ideas and storylines.

Happy Happy birthday to mee!

Yep I'm 19 today :D I feel quite old! Its true that as you age you get less presents, but they get more expensive :D I got the indiana jones lego game from babs. I looked at the review on GS and it got an 8. I've previously thought that lego games were pretty rubbish but according to my boss its a really good game! I thought that I would ignore the superstition and think positively today, but I couldn't sleep last night cos I felt ill, and im ill today :( hopefully I'm better before tonight cos I'm going for a meal with babs, mike and one of babs' old friends. Level 20 is taking forever, I'm only at 67% ish percent.

The Golden Compass

Well Babs bought the DVD yesterday and I watched it last night. For those of you that don't know The Golden Compass is an adaptation of the book Northern Lights, which is the first in Phillip Pullman's Dark Materials Trilogy. I would strongly recommend the books to anyone who loves fantasy books, like eragon or harry potter. There is a great balance of witchcraft and fighting. Its aimed at young adults so its not childish. But... the movie is a completely different story. When it was first released in the cinemas the critics had a field day slating it and saying how they have "dumbed down" the movie so that it would be suitable for kids. I was very disappointed when I heard this, I was very excited to hear about the movie being released and was hoping that it would do the book justice.

Well it didn't, it was very boring. There was no depth to draw you in and follow the story. It was as if they took the main points to the story and that was it, this happened then this happened etc etc. They had chosen fantastic actors, daniel craig (the new bond) nicole kidman and ian mckellen to speak he voice of iorek, the armoured bear. Basically it was a great disappointment, it was only 1 hr 48 mins long and it could've been so much better. Read the books, rent the film and then moan about it. As far as the game goes it will probably be boring so I'm not going to bother buying it.

The dreaded level 20...

This blog officially marks the day that I, xxbethxx became level 20, metal slime. Lets see how long it takes folks! How long did it take YOU to get out of level 20? Discuss :D

New Job :D

I was given the job in the petrol station in the town not too far from where I live. I have been working there since wednesday and its going well. I have had a few problems, I've overcharged some one and someone else didn't pay for fuel. But they haven't shouted at me or sacked me :D I haven't been on here posting for the past few days cos me and babs are addicted to an egg hunt on facebook atm. It finishes next week so hopefully we won't have withdrawal symptoms!

New emblem :)

I am now a tagger dabbler :D

Another petrol station that is only up the road from me has asked me to go to an interview tomorrow, so if the other petrol station job doesn't work out then I've always got this to fall back on :)

February

I'll carry on where I left off in my last blog, my fingers were fully healed roughly three weeks after I had scalded them (beginning of february) I had heard NOTHING from my boss or his wife, me and babs had decided that I wouldn't contact him either until they had healed, he obviously didn't want to know how I was. So I went to church on the 2nd of feb and was told that a person that I knew had died falling down the stairs, I was deeply shocked felt for the people who cared most about him. Came home and phoned my boss to tell him that I could work. His wife answered, she sounded extremely awkward, after muttering and stammering for a bit she said that I had been replaced, the woman who I had replaced had agreed to work again. Also my nan died on the night of my brothers party, we had to leave after only being a few mintes at the party cos mike felt ill, we wouldn't have got the call if we had stayed. So babs said that I should sign on the dole (jobseekers allowance) so that they would help me find a job and I would get some money each week. I had an interview in a petrol station on friday, seems promising and another today in an opticians. Things seem to be looking up :)

uh oh...

As you know from my previous blog I have got a job in a cafe. But last friday at around one pm I was pouring some very hot soup into a measuring jug and my hand slipped and some of it fell on my fingers, now three of my fingers are badly scalded and I can't work for the rest of the week. I can't drive either. I am so angry with myself for not being more careful, luckily I haven't got any blisters yet so I was extremely luckily. Fortunately the soup was not as hot as it could have been. So I ran my fingers under cold water for about five minutes and my bosses wife asked if I would be ok to work, the boss was in the front of the cafe and she seemed very reluctant to tell him. She didn't say get yourself to the hospital or go home. So I worked for another hour and a half with burning fingers, I messed up one order cos my mind was concentrating on my burns and I was still getting over the shock. The best the bosses wife could do was to go to the chemist and buy me some rubbish spray which was for minor burns so it stung more after I had put it on.

On a happy note it was my brother's 40th birthday yesterday and its his big party on friday, no I'm not talking about mike, my other brother is called andy. Hopefully everything will go to plan, mum is gonna be cooking like mad tomorrow and friday cos andy wants her to cook chicken legs and cakes.

Yes it me again, you haven't got rid of me yet :D

Hello!!! Happy new year! I hope you all had great christmases and new years :) My christmas didn't go as planned, I was a pig on christmas day and ate too much turkey and drank an emabrrassing two glasses of wine. As a result I was ill for the majority of the evening and missed all of the christmas tv :( Don't shout light wiehgt all at once.

I am slowly starting to post on my unions again, not that they are very active, especially the harry potter union, something will have to be done, not sure what yet.

The past few months have been particularly hard. I've been looking for a job and have been unsuccessful. Spending three months stuck in the house doing nothing drives you insane. At my lowest moments I felt so low and useless. Not that I looked very hard for a job, in newspapers that are delivered to us and on the internet. I didn't go to different shops and ask if they have any vacancies cos I was petrified and messing it up and being rejected. I applied for about eight jobs and was told by a few of them that I was inexperienced because I had no previous work experience and no qualifications (like computers and child care) A levels seemed to count for nothing. Then on christmas eve I was told of a job in a local cafe which I regularly go to. It was pouring down! The manager said that he would phone me in the new year. And he phoned today! He said that I could come in tomorrow and he would show me around and see how I cope at lunchtime. I'm so nervous incase I mess up and I don't get the job permanently.

Themiddle of this year was pretty eventful too, I had my A level exams, I was dead certain that I was going to fail my English Literature exams because I got really low marks for my AS levels. We went on our first holiday in about eight years in august to east england to a small hamlet called Benniworth (the towns in the area were ridiculously named) so I wouldn't be able to collect my exam results, which slightly annoyed me. I phoned the school up at 9 am and they said that I could phone them up in an hour and I would get my results, the next hour was nerve racking. I was in for the chock of my life. I got my geography results first, I knew that I had done well in the coursework, I got an A for that. We were given our grades a few months before. I got a C in the exam which was great cos that was the requirement for the university that I applied for. Then I got my english results "you got an A in the first exam" said the woman. I had to ask her to repeat that and then ask her if she wasn't joking. "B in the coursework" she then said, we weren't given our grades previoulsy like with the geography, if I had known this grade then I wouldv'e had a rough idea of how well I had to do in the exams "and a B in the last exam" I was ecstatic!! In a state of shock! Next was religious studies. I had done resonably well in one of the exams and not so well in the other one, my answers were very short which worried me, but I thought that I had mentioned everything that we had been taught. A in the buddhism exam and B in the other. At this point I looked like the cat who got that cream. Apparently babs knew that I would do well, and so did my friends, shame that I didn't believe them. I'm sure if babs had also taken the exmas she wouldv'e got sraight As. For a whole week I basically taught mum all of the work I had to learn, I was a great way of revising. Well its better than talking to yourself.

I also passed my driving theory test :) I got 32 marks out of 35 for the theory part and 52 out of 75 for the hazard perception part.

Phew! This must be one of my longest blogs! Its more like an essay! Well that's my summary of 2007, It had its good and bad points but that is to be expected. I will let you know how I do tomorrow in the cafe :)
