That and idoubt the movie uses even half of the disc.X360PS3AMD05
Incorrect. Avatar uses up almost the entire disk. 46/50gb to be exact. For those complaining about it being barebones, I don't see why, because Fox has been pretty upfront about their release plans for Avatar. Heck, if you even bother to look on the back of the case before you purchase it, it tells you right there that all it includes is the movie as well. Pertaining directly to the Blu-ray though, it's by *far* the best looking movie in terms of picture and audio quality. It's absolutely phenomenal, reference-quality type definition.

For those who aren't sure if they'd enjoy Avatar in 2D as they did in 3D like I did, believe me, it's still amazing. The picture quality is impeccably sharp, the sound booms, and what it gives up with not having 3D, it makes up with significantly higher brightness and vividness of picture. Many of the scenes throughout the Blu-ray "pop" to a degree, actually giving many of the parts a very 3D-feel to it.

It's a great buy if you enjoyed the movie in theatres.

That's a fairly wide list you've got there. Can't really give a good answer unless we know what games you're really into.

Same answer from me; it has potential. Won't be a system seller, but I think it'll end up being a worthy rent at the least, if not a buy.

Just based off gamer instincts (nerdy as it sounds), I'm predicting scores at highest in low to mid eights and at lowest in the mid sevens.

I don't personally get lag online; the problem is Sony's servers taking a crap as much as they do, for instance: -2 months of instability on Warhawk's servers at release -Instability of Socom's servers upon release (no idea how it is now since I don't touch the game anymore) -The apparent inconsistency in Resistance 2's servers at the moment with connecting to games -The LittleBigPlanet servers on some days, today being one of them, slowing down significantly and causing very long load times And I do know for a fact that none of the above have just been issues with me. I browse and post on a LOT of gaming forums. For other people who do as well, you'll agree that when something is wrong with a game or online servers, you'll KNOW if something is up whether you're playing- or even own the game for that matter, or not. So yeah, most of the time spent gaming online on the PS3 is smooth-sailing, but there are definitely those days where it just gives you hell. I really wouldn't mind paying a small annual fee to help guarantee server stability either.

Both Sony and Microsoft lose money for each console they sell. The money they hope to make comes off of software sales, not hardware. Nintendo is the only one, according to a recent report anyway, that actually makes a few bucks for each system sold.

On that note, neither Sony nor Microsoft will go bankrupt because of it. Sony still makes money off PS2 and PSP sales as well as lots of other forms of entertainment in electronics (TVs, sound systems, Blu Ray players) and movies. Then Microsoft who of course is the PC giant.

Worry not about anyone going bankrupt.

Uh...sony showed/talked on games we obviosly knew were coming. The only thing that caught me off guard was resistance for psp & WAG. MusashiSensi

Not the point of my post, I was just pointing out that Microsoft's press conference was no different.

Amazing? Wow! You guys really get amazed over things that are not that amazing. I mean they could've showed you a chibi kratos doing the macarena while riding a pony in slow motion through a field of flowers and you guys would've seriously said "WOW! That god of war 3 teaser was AMAAAAAAAAAAAAZING". MusashiSensi

...And what amazing gameplay/trailer did Microsoft or Nintendo show off exactly? Just of games we've already known about and seen before, right?

[QUOTE="xxxvvvbbb"]Even if the PS3 gets nothing but crappy games from this day forward, it's still not a reason to sell your PS3. In the coming years, Blu-Ray will have fully replaced DVD just like DVD has replaced VHS, and the PS3 is still the best deal you can find when it comes to Blu-Ray players.bodokai

we will have god of war 3 resistance 2 infamous dc universe online mag and even 70 more exlusives thats not crappy games

Really, you should probably learn to read a bit better.

Dang that game sounds cool.

choffy

In premise it sounds cool. Now think about it this way:

255 kids screaming into their mic...

256 people = MASSIVE LAG

And that strategy element? It won't exist. Everyone will just run-n-gun by themselves and then it'll just be a giant Halo-ish game

No, you're wrong in many different ways :P,

The PS3 can already handle massive maps (Warhawk, Bad Company) with no lag whatsoever.

By utilizing dedicated servers (MMOs), 256 players shouldn't be a problem.

Plus the fact that it's made by Zipper and was Sony's "big" announcement, I don't think they'll let this game be bad.

As for the "255 kids screaming into their mic," that won't be a problem. The voice communication is set to work similarly to Battlefield. People are going to be divided into 8 player squads, where people can only communicate with their squad memebers except for the squad leader who will likely communicate with the other squad leaders, etc.

Really, Sony/Zipper wouldn't let things like that "slip" by.
