In 2010 there were two types of gamers, ones that thought Mass Effect 2 was the messiah, and the others that thought RDR1 was. I am guessing the OP spent a little time in Mass Effect2, that wacky, silly, generic space game(as far as I am concerned, ME2 was just a bad sequel to Space Jam).
zeeroah's forum posts
It definitely is set before RDR1. Right in the opening scene of RDR1 there is a Car being lifted off the boat. This RDR2 trailer goes out of it's way to show a less evolved world(than RDR1), with even messier streets, TONS of untamed wilderness(a hint to the MASSIVELY fun and HUGE hunting challenges of RDR1) There is also a dead deer thrown across the back of the farmer's horse. The Canoe may be a hint of INDIANS, yes remember those MFers? The Bufflao are back, you have a chance to kill off the Buffalo in RDR1(it is an achievement/trophy). The posse of horsemen running across the plains hint at a Dutch's old gang(imo).
Unless they change the characters, this game will be about Marston as a young man. I predict we will see Marston 'grow up' in Dutch's gang. Marston was in Dutch's gang from a young teenager until 1906. Marston was 37-38ish years old in 1911(he was born in 1873). So a 12-17 year old Marston for starters, escaping the orphanage, and joining with Dutch. Then, a coming of age story. A story starting around 1885-1890. This game is probably mostly set in the 1890s.
That all said, I am not sure what the oil well fields suggest, such a short trailer, they mean something bigger than the oil fields in RDR1(there is a oil field in RDR1 called Plainview). I looked it up, and got this "...In North America, the first commercial oil well entered operation in Oil Springs, Ontario in 1858, while the first offshore oil well was drilled in 1896 at the Summerland Oil Field on the California Coast...."So, I am guessing there is a thick story line akin to the subject matter for the movie "There Will Be Blood". But that movie is based in 1898. Oil fields existed before then, and the main piece of info this video is suggesting, is that we will definitely be seeing some story about the early oil industry.
Off topic real quick(but relative), why are all the Switch threads being locked? Thanks!
I mean, I was expecting something 'outta touch', ridiculously outta touch. But this thing? First, right out of the gate, I take it Nintendo doesn't understand that in the English language, 'switch' is a pretty weird word to name ANY product to start with.(if you do not know what I mean...?).
But the intro video, all the sliding and snapping, and traveling. Why does Nintendo think hardcore gamers want to take their home console with them? Are they THAT out of touch? I am afraid the answer is an astounding yes.
I had hopes Nintendo would pull 'something' off, but I am afraid, this is the end of the Nintendo of old. The Nintendo that used to hang right with the competition, the Nintendo that used to push gaming boundaries. This is just an old senile Nintendo, that has no idea how to appeal to gamers anymore, and it is a sad day in the gaming world.

So after looking at MANY PSVR cables for days, I also decided to keep my PSVR for right now. So I had to 'fit it into' my living room. Well, I just may be the guy for the job, I can get this kinda thing done.
(Image 1)After a few attempts, the length of the headset cables forced me to go with (image1) Velcroing the PSVR console to the back of my TV with Industrial grade Velcro. Now a little bending here, a little strap tying there, and wrapping a few cables together and bam, less hassle than I thought.
(Image2)An underneath view of the PSVR console velcroed to my TV.
(Image 3) Same view but with cables attached.
(Image 4)You can see the easily removable, and re-attachable PSVR headset cables hanging at the right bottom, and the ridiculously dated PScam on top of my TV.
(Image 5)PSVR headset, motion controllers and a PS4 controller hanging on the charging stand.
I was a bit beat, but afterwards I managed to get in a game of RIGS: Mech Combat League. A bit weird, the control scheme, you turn your head to aim your gun, and you control the mech with the thumbsticks as a normal FPS. I got queasy after 1 round. I knew EXACTLY what to do, I put it down. But the game was interesting, just gotta catch the PSVR at the right time. Some games will make you queasy in 10 minutes, some games you can play all night. And it really depends on what time of day it is. I have measured this fact against multiple users(including myself) using the unit over and over, throughout the weekend, and early this week.
I have gotten used to the resolution and blur, I have become more keen at adjusting the headset, and keeping the 'goggle glass' from getting smudged by my face while putting the headset on, and during play. I have to say, the PSVR is slowly growing on me. I am ready for a real game, a full game.
If you have read all I said(I feel that 'as a whole' this is a solid unbiased honest and real review, And I will continue to add stuff as it seems reasonable), you might remember I was seriously considering selling it at a loss. But honestly, at the moment, there is nothing else I would rather have 600$ invested in. Look mom, I on PSVR!
Played some more last night. I also have other people trying it out, to see what they think. One person sit, and played it for right around 2 hrs with no motion sickness, this person also enjoyed it all a little more than me. I asked them about the blurriness, they said yes it was blurry, and OBVIOUSLY the resolution is shit, but they never said anything negative about the visuals, almost like it didn't bother them.
I played the demo for a music game called Harmonix Music VR. For this game I would never want to play it again, but a lot of these demos(and games) are just tech demos, and IMPRESSIVE tech demos they are. There is just something about being in a solid VR environment, and doing 'stuff you have never done' in video games, or anywhere ever. Like there is a drawing bit(in Harmonix). Sure, I hate drawing, but I was drawing in a full room, so I could like draw something really crazy in the air(selecting from about 27 different zany, digital, drawing utensil tips)and then move the drawing, or even throw the drawing like up to the ceiling , or behind me. You can draw in a complete circle around yourself. Pretty interesting technology to experience.
I also tried the demo for Rez(infinite), which is apparently a game that dates all the way back to 2002 on PS2(seriously), the game has the highest review scores of all the PSVR games, but I thought it was PRETTY bad.
One other thing that irritates me a bit, most of the demos are EXTREMELY short, and then POW! The option to 'buy the game' pops up. I mean, how stupid do they think consumers of 560$ VR sets are? Oh wait, yea, it was kind of a dumb move on my part buying this thing. It is just SOOOOOO expensive. Quite the gamble.
I would love to try a full game in it, but I am already 640$+ into this thing(i bought the 50$ dollar stand to hold, and charge it all). I would love to experience RE7 in it, but I think the game I am gonna buy is "Here They Lie". It just seems to get the best reviews, and the demo was ok, even though it sorta has some of the worst graphics of all the demos, but in reality, PSVR is definitely not an experience 'based on' graphics. But IDK, it is always slim pickings with a console's launch titles, But dammit, I want some trophies.
But, honestly, I just feel like running back to my Mafia 3 collector's edition(I traded it unopened(150$) against the price of the PSVR, because mafia 3 scored shit), kinda like that feeling you get as a young child, when your parents would leave you at your grandparents for a few days. I truly feel betrayed(or dropped off, and left behind) by PSVR, there is no other way to explain how I feel. However, and either way, if you wanna be a true gaming 'adventurer' type of gamer, you better get used to 'this feeling', because trust me kiddies, you cannot trust any gaming console manufacturer. They are all Satan, and Satan's grandparents are, well... they spawned Satan's parents.

I'd guess it is Dutch's "old gang"(with Marston in tow), circa 1880-1906. http://reddead.wikia.com/wiki/Dutch%27s_Gang
The third character from the right is wearing a hat just like Bill Williamson does in RDR (fact)http://reddead.wikia.com/wiki/Bill_Williamson
"Dutch's Old gang"
\/\/ quoted from wiki page \/\/
"...Dutch van der Linde seems to have been almost a father-figure to the gang; certainly he is credited with taking in and raising Marston and Abigail after the two youngsters ran from their orphanage. Dutch's "Transcendentalist philosophy" and paternal approach imbued the gang with a strong sense of loyalty and cohesion, almost a family quality...."
So, Dutch had Marston under his wing since he was a child. Meaning a RDR sequel could go all the way back to the 1870s, giving a RDR prequel 'the chronological opportunity' to cover the ENTIRE period known as 'the wild west'.
I swear, I randomly heard R* say(a few months or so back) that the next "Red Dead" would be a 'prequel' to RDR. Remember, RDR wasn't a 'true' western. It was in a post-wild west setting, it was based in 1911. It was the story of an old, mostly washed-up gangster cowboy. It was his redemption story.
In his younger days Marston was a cold blooded killer. He ran with this even colder gang of robbers, and criminals(Dutch's Gang). The topic matter of the 3rd installment into the Red Dead Franchise will be a prequel to RDR, about back when Marston ran with that gang, from what I can gather.
Proof that this is a picture of a 'prequel' scenario, Bill Williamson dies in RDR.(Williamson is the third character from the right, you can 'tell him' by his hat, as I pointed out above)
@zeeroah: did you try the physical distance adjustment - you might get more light leak, but it really sounds like you need to move it away from your eyes.
The slider only gives you so many options, basically the only option you have is to pull it as close to your eyes as possible. The eye-set has to 'lock onto' your face a little, sorta like binoculars, else you just can not see the visuals properly.
@gago-gago:
@zeeroah: Pretty good insight and impressions. I feel that the PS4 Pro can't really improve the tracking issues.
The handling is fine, as a matter of fact, I really have had zero problems with the handling/controls. I must say(I guess I may not of) PSVR's controls are excellent, and the head tracking is basically all you could want.
It is the slight blur, and EXTREMELY low resolution, that sorta hamper PSVR's quality. That, and motion sickness, and headaches(more like an eye-ache, behind my eyes).

Since everyone is so interested in cables, I will give some clearer details of the (semi ridiculous)functions of the PSVR's cable and power options(needs).
The PSVR console unit(the little box to the far right), it requires a USB power supply(red 1.) and an AC cable with a power brick(red 2.) This unit has it's own little fan in it, not the brick, the console unit. The HDMI cables are the real sloppy thing to me. In order to switch your PS4 to use your PSVR , you have to take the HDMI cable out of the ps4(the one going to your tv), then plug it into the PSVR (1.pink) (it hooks the PSVR directly to your TV, instead of your ps4). Next you have to hook a HDMI cable from the ps4 to the VR console unit. You cannot use your PS4 normally with the PSVR hooked up. So, it is a 'back and forth' hooking, and unhooking of HDMI cables. Also, I personally want the PSVR 'off' when I am not using it. Plus, I need both usb ports on the ps4 to use it normally.
Blur... I tried some suggestions(above) on getting 'the blur' out of the PSVR, I found about 5 adjustment options in the PS4 options menu. I made them all, took my time, did it all perfectly, there is still a slight blur to the edges of things like words, and menu option stuff(it varies, but there is always a blur somewhere, if there are words). Personally, it gives me a headache almost immediately, because when a word is blurry, your eyes will naturally 'try and adjust' to get rid of blur. I think this might be what else makes me motion sick so fast. I can get nauseous in like 10 minutes(depending on the game).
I have concluded that the PSVR headset goggles(the glasses) are most likely not perfectly symmetric, which makes a lot of sense, because the truth is, this head unit is not the most technologically advanced piece of hardware.
Another flaw in design, and function is that, every time you wear the headset, part of your face is VERY likely to touch the glasses, and the glass is very easily smudged, easy enough to wipe off(it comes with a cloth for this), but not if you still have the goggles on. This is just one more 'little thing' that sorta piles up, and can make for quite a frustrating experience(especially, if you are trying to use the unit at the 'highest quality possible' for a longer time than say 5-10 minutes).
I actually, have at this point come to the conclusion, that there is not really anything PlayStation can do to 'further' PSVR, simply because of the lackluster quality of the hardware. You can't fix this kinda hardware with software updates, or 'more power'(PSpro). The headset has such a low resolution, and low quality hardware, that it chops itself off at the knees.
I predict a few companies trying to make some 'real' games for PSVR, and then that is it. The main reason is, PSVR is not ideal for a 'long gaming' experience, in other words, you cannot play it for say 5 hrs straight(like you might your favorite AAA title on a normal console). PSVR is on par with the 3d effect in the first 3ds. Amazing at first, kinda hard to get it to work perfectly, never quite seems like it is working as it should, and will stay 'tacked on' to EVERY SINGLE thing PlayStation does for the next 2-4 years, yet no one will really use it.
Like I said, what will hold PSVR back is simply the headset hardware. Honestly, IMO I can't even believe PlayStation put this thing out, it just seems like it is a bit half-baked, it seems almost like a beta unit, it feels like I am working at PlayStation, and we still have wrinkles to iron out.
I will continue to play it(over this week), and do the best I can, but at this point, I am probably gonna try and sell it, and eat 100-150$ vs eating the full 560$ I am into it.
For me this is what I live for(the first console I bought at launch was the first gameboy), I am a gamer at heart, and I love to experience new gaming hardware at launch, so I am fine. But, the truth is, I have never paid SO MUCH for gaming hardware that had so much wrong with it, and so little potential. I truly feel ripped off.
