Natalie Portman

So, I just read the news that Natalie Portman is engaged and pregnant. It was distressing news, to me, because I will only ever see her asPadmé Amidala. I always hate to see a star I like get married or have kids, etc, because it tells me they do in fact have a life outside of the movies. As all of you are well aware, Star Wars is an obsession for me. I do not want anything to tarnish the characters I love. And something like this does just that. Don't get me wrong, in a sense I am happy for her and wish her the best. But, in another sense, I am distraught because I don't want to think that the person that plays the character is anything BUT that character. When I watch Star Wars, these people remain the same. They are a constant; they are held in time. I like my reality of the person to stay as that. Like with Natalie, she is now going to move on and have a family. To me, Natalie (orPadmé) went to be one with the Force in that room on Polis Massa. Most people that read this blog, if anyone does, will not understand why this bothers me. But, when you reach a level of fandom that I have for Star Wars, the whole thing just seems surreal. Good luck to Natalie Portman on this journey she is about to undertake.

Irvin Kershner

RIP Irvin Kershner. When I read the news today that he had passed, I could not believe it. I thought to myself, that can't be right. I owe that man a lot in my life; he changed my life in many ways. I could have never thanked him enough for what he did for Star Wars, as well as the film industry as a whole. The Empire Strikes Back was a great film, and I still get chills from watching it, some 2,000 watch-throughs later. Kershner was a idol to many, and a hero to any die-hard Star Wars fan. It is very ironic because I had just watched Empire twice yesterday, and was actually thinking about him. He really changed many, many lives; myself included. He will be missed. And to Irvin Kershner: Remember, the Force will be with you...always.

I miss Scrubs.

I was just sitting tonight watching some of my favorite episodes of Scrubs. I can't believe it has been almost two years since the series ended (I consider season 8 the finale). Four out of my top 10 favorite episodes are in season 8. I am one that always wanted JD and Elliot to be together in the end, and I am glad they were. Being that, My Soul on Fire Part 2 and My Happy Place are two of my favorites. I have seen the series completely through about 60 times. I know every episode by heart, and had been watching the series since its premiere in 2001.

I was pretty upset when it ended last year, and I still can't bring myself to watch the second half of the finale again. I watched it twice when it first premiered, and I have never watched it again. It was a spectacular ending to a spectacular series. I miss it everyday.

Star Wars is Back People!!!!!

Back to theaters. One more time, in 3D. It all kicks off in 2012 with Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace. YES. We have been waiting for this for years! I can't believe it. I am counting the days.

Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions

I waited quite some time for another Spider-Man title. I am a little disappointed in Shattered Dimensions. I personally loved Web of Shadows. It was fun swinging around and wall crawling all over the city. Shattered Dimensions is severly hampered on swinging and wall crawling. It has a closed environment, so you really have no need to swing at all. When you do, it literally last a second or two, then you are at your destination. It is too short, and not very fulfilling. The game mostly focuses on the combat, which isn't really what Spider-Man is about. I want to be Spider-Man; that includes swinging around huge buildings for hours on end, just swinging. When you do get to swing, the controls mess up the experience. They are not as fluid as they were in previous games, and they get a little frustrating. I have played through two levels, and no improvements yet. It is a mediocre title at best, which is really disappointing for a follow up to the game I thought was the best the series ever had. 5/10 stars.

Comments are welcome.

Star Wars on Blu-Ray

I personally have been waiting years for the announcement of the Star Wars Saga on Blu-Ray. Imagine my surprise when George Lucas announced it himself last Saturday. There are going to be never before seen deleted scenes, as well as other goodies. I had the pleasure of seeing one of the deleted scenes; it was spectacular! The Blu-Ray set will be available in Fall 2011. What is everyone's idea on price? I was thinking it would be around 175$-200$.

I am hoping for a collector's edition or limited edition version of the set. I will be checking everyday for the preorder; I will be ordering two of them. I hope they do the digital update of Yoda in Episode I.

As always, comments are welcome.

MTFBWY..Always.

Celebration V

Celebration V starts on August 12th, 2010. I will update the off-topic thread over on The Clone Wars, and also be posting on the Information Thread over on the Untitled Live-Action Star Wars series. I am making this blog entry ahead of time, and I will be posting the majority of information on here as comments. I will be seeing George Lucas on Saturday, so who knows what he will be saying. I will meet Mark Hamill sometime during the weekend, so if anyone has a question for him regarding Star Wars or Batman, let me know and I will be sure to ask him. Any other comments; go ahead and post them. My phone has a little trouble with the site, so, if there are any errors in my posts, I apologize ahead of time.

May the Force be with you all...always.

When will 3D movies take over?

Now, we know that 3D will stay mostly with blockbusters. There are so many movies that have already announced they will be in 3D.

In case you don't know, I hate 3D movies. It is a gimmick; a way for Hollywood to make more money off us. I refuse to see a 3D movie. I am willing to not see movies I have waited years for, if they are in 3D.

Some people are arguing there will always be a 2D version at the same time. This isn't true, when you really think about it closely. The reason there are 2D versions now, is because they are making them 3D in post-production. If the movie is shot from day one in 3D, it is my opinion that they will only put that version into theaters.

It is simple economics. In my area, they charge 17$ to see a 3D movie. A normal ticket is 7$. So, if the production company puts in only 3D, they will be making a ton more money. People will be forced to watch the 3D version. I am not one of these people. And I do not think I am alone here. In the long run, the movie industry will lose a lot of money.

My question is this: when will 3D movies take over the cinema? From my count, it will be by the beginning of 2011. It is really sad, they are going to lose a lot of moviegoers.

I am one of these people. I said I will never see a 3D movie, and I stick to my convictions.
