counter strike is probably still one of the most popular PC first person shooters. I personally have grown to love team fortress 2 more which also has a huge community. Then there's also left 4 dead games which have lots of people playing. Basically any valve game will have a thriving community. My recommendation goes to TF2. Awesome class based fps that's not the same old military shooter/

Monitors (and most other computer hardware) for most people are like cars- once they're out of the box, you can go ahead and chop off a big chunk of the original price. You just gotta remember that people are cheap and no one will want to give you as much as you ask. So ask for more than you want/need.

It took me about a week, maybe 2. But once you get used to it, you realize that you can do things you wouldnt even dream of with a gamepad, even with sensitivity all the way up. Thing is, it might not seem like it since everyone else has this same advantage.

Nothing looks out of order to me. Temps are all fine, and I dont see anything horribly outrageous about the voltages (i am not an expert on that, but they all seem about right for their components- feel free to correct me, experts). Does she think something is wrong or did she just want a check up?

I'd only be concerned if the cpu temp rose above 50 (and stayed there)

[QUOTE="Nibroc420"]Ohh, so you're saying that with the recent update your computer's cpu was unable to handle the particles and such that have been added in to make the game look nicer? Nope, not hard to understand at allRemmib

You would have to be a complete idiot to think that 'particles' which I never even saw make any difference (don't know when they went into effect) would bring my FPS down from a steady 60-70FPS at all high settings to dropping down to 15-30FPS at low settings.

Or... ? Am I supposed to be afraid and, like, stop posting because you want me to?

What are your computer specs? I'm assuming you're yet another user trying to play the game with inadequate hardware. If you don't have a good CPU and video card and at least more than 2 gigs of RAM, I wouldn't expect to get great performance from this game even at lower video settings.

THA-TODD-BEAST

It's because you simply don't understand what you are talking about.

Read my above statement to Nibroc.

E8400 @ 3Ghz
8800 GTX
4 gigs of ram

Few months back TF2 ran butter-smooth, now it doesn't because Valve screwed something up. Many other users are experiencing this same problem.

In before you say I need to update my drivers, or I need to defrag, or I need to verify the cache, or I should do a clean install of my OS...it's been done, no fix.

if Valve messed something up, then that would mean the game itself is messed up. If the game itself is messed up, the vast majority of people would be having problems (see GTAIV for bad optimization- nearly EVERYONE who had this game when it came out complained about this, regardless of their hardware). Can you explain why the vast majority of people aren't having any problems?

Well it's a weekend deal, so you can assume it'll last until Sunday (or thereabouts, I'm not sure exactly when they end the weekend deals).

i also played the game for an hour and then uninstalled it. i think my problem was, i tried playing it like a first person shooter (and i distributed skill points evenly... bad move) and it just didnt match up to other shooters i'd played.

however, when i reinstalled it and played with the minset that it was not a traditional shooter, it made the game way better for me. plus watching body parts explode in V.A.T.S is awesome.
