Hey guys.
I logged into gamespot today.
Checked some news.
Went to the L4D forums. Chilled there for a bit.
Checked the BBC. World still sucks.
Journeyed over to the wonderful OT forum to get a little injection of laughs via the YLYL thread, epic of course.
I find out that its been locked for, wait, is that correct?! Because it's less than a month old?! WTF! Worst mod reason ever. I don't care if you've been modded for the stupidest reason ever, this is still worse.
So, now my life is without happiness. Should I kill myself? I think so.
[QUOTE="Immortalica"]No, I don't breathe loud.RiseAgainst12Neither do i.. i think it is just i always think people can hear me no matter what. Same! Especially on the phone for some reason. I don't know why.
I'm not arguing. I was just asking a question. If evolution were true, then I'm sure that life would have evolved elsewhere in our solar system, even if the conditions were different from that of earth. Good point. After all, according to the theory life adapts to it's environment. Surely it would have adapted on at least one of the other planets? Whoops! Nope! Seems like no one understands evolution anymore. Evolution is not a thing. It's simply another word for natural selection. Take me and a friend for instance. Say our parents each had one kid, us, and let's say that we are both gathering our own food in the wild and have the same conditions. We are exactly the same physically and mentally but my hands are bigger than his. This trait, passed on through my genes allows me to carry more food, and this surplus food allows me to have more kids that live. These kids carry that same gene that causes big hands, and slowly only the big hand gene is left over to be passed on. My friend died out because he couldn't gether enough food with his smaller hands. You see? Evolution does not create life. The creation of life is something completely different, and requires near-perfect variables. The other planets in our solar system, and around us don't have those perfect variables. But our universe is vast, trillions of GALAXIES. Each galaxy containing 1,000,000,000,000 or more stars, and each star possibly having planets. It's a mind numbing amount.[QUOTE="Jemdude"][QUOTE="broken_bass_bin"]
life exists on Earth because it has the fundamental properties which allow it to support life.
other planets in our solar system don't have these properties. so they can't support life. at least not on their surface.
simple as that. your argument is massively flawed

Have you read Blood Meridian?

The Road completes McCarthy's Apocalypse Trilogy. The first two being Blood Meridian and No Country for Old Men.
Interesting, I've never heard it referred to as the Apocalypse Trilogy, although the name certainly makes sense.
Still, I thought that The Road was the worst of the three. Really, I thought it was a really good book, but I personally didn't enjoy it that much (if that makes much sense).
Not the whole book, snippets and partial summary, but it's on a long list to read. It's not necessarily what I meant by apocalyptic though, I consider The Road to be a very accurate portrayal of a near future for the human race if oil is depleted or war breaks out. The Road described a world ravaged by nuclear war (How I interpreted it at least) due to large amounts of ash in the sky and nuclear winter. I thought that The Road had an optimistic ending but it was certainly not an optimistic tale. I was not as disturbed by the cannibalism and other gruesome material because I think our disgust comes from our culture, and that cannibalism in the world described in The Road is quite logical. Most people are extremely disturbed by the consumption of the newborn baby but I think it is quite understandable as a baby needs lots of food and effort to grow up strong.Thank god it's not up to you. There are millions of movies devoted to people like you, but some think outside the box and try to tell a story that's more realistic and disturbing. No one forced you to watch it. If you don't find it entertaining then it's your loss, but not every movie caters to a 12-year old's fantasy life where good and bad is black and white and everyone is happy in the end. Btw, stay away from "The Road" as there are *GASP* no villains! And no climactic battles![QUOTE="zombiefruit"]
[QUOTE="Head_of_games"] Life? Screw life, it's a movie! Are you saying it's more entertaining to watch an old sheriff go on about a dream than to see him take on the psychopathic murderer? If it where up to me, the sheriff would have been driving the car that hit the villain.

Interestingly enough, I love most of McCarthy's works (esp. Blood Meridian and No Country for Old Men, although All the Pretty Horses, Child of God, and Outer Dark are all fantastic as well (The Orchard Keeper was good, but not on the same level)), but I didn't particularly enjoy The Road.
:O. You should read it again. It's definitely my favorite of all his books. But I'm also quite fond of the apocalyptic setting and tone, don't know why.[QUOTE="zombiefruit"]

I don't know. They might hear that The Road is a post-apocalyptic film which has roving bands of cannibals who spit-roasts babies and keep chained catamites to be used as sexual playthings and as food. Then they might think its some sort of Mad Max horror-action.
Nah, the book never gave a "Mad Max" vibe, it seemed more serious and desperate. They never kept prisoners as sexual playthings btw, they only had one scene.. SPOILERS ..where there was a cellar in a house being used to store people to eat later on. Cannibalism, in the post-apocalyptic world described in The Road seems pretty understandable, as the world would be unable to support agriculture and humans would not be able to adapt quickly to a life of a predator.
