This is what all RR games should be like

User Rating: 9.7 | Rage Racer PS
I've played all Ridge Racer games and I have to say that Rage Racer(RR3) is the best. Now you might think I'm out of my mind comparing it to RR6 or even RR4 or 5, but this game is not about graphics or effects. Playing this game all the way to the end will prove to be more than your average racing game. Now before I go on, you'll need to know that there's only one track for the entire game but it a very long interchangeable track with new areas to be explored and as you move on, you'll start noticing the changes in the atmosphere, gray skies, sun sets... You'll be amazed at how addictive it can get.. In fact you won't even realize you're on the same track . Think of it as a racing game that has several tracks all merged into one. And just when you thought you've mastered all the corners, you discover that it's a whole new game with the power ups and new cars. I have to say, one of the things I like the most is the music, you get a bonus track at the end of the game as well. But the most impressive attribute I found in this game is the atmosphere, you're totally immersed in the game as if you were racing in your native city. Every corner becomes memorable. Gameplay wize, it's fast and gets ridiculously faster as you upgrade and buy new cars. The graphics were pretty impressive back when it came out but the beauty of the game lies in the scenery and changing time of day, not the polygon pushing. The engines sound ok but the music is really nice provided you like the Ridge Racer industrial/rave music. I'm still playing the game almost a decade later, a classic. It's not a Gran Turismo but unless you're looking for something realistic, you should definitely give it a try. This is a very good example of implementing art in a racing game.
