Game should play out at least a century later imo so the only returning characters should be Asari or Krogan, the rest should be long dead. I would not mind seeing Grunt and Liara make a cameo though.

I'm not in favor of a return to the more complicated menus of ME1. I thought that the more focused system found in ME3 was better by far. Customization was achieved by combining armor pieces for different stat boosts and by balancing weapons against power regeneration. So you could be more a weapon or power focused character of any class by your weapon and armor selections. If anything I'd like an expansion of that concept.

After all it was not fun having to manage the 150 item limit in ME 1 when you're picking up items constantly, especially given that I only ever used a few weapon types and manufacturers and a few weapon and armor mods.

But definitely no reapers and no past characters unless it's only a reference.

I'll add to the list, no more weapon and armor pack DLCs. I'd rather have 2 to 4 really good DLCs that add meaningful story lines and game play that also include weapons and armor.

Also less linearity. ME 3 was much more of a directed experience than ME 1 and ME2. The first two gave the much more of a feeling of exploration where ME 3 gave me the feeling of just being pushed from planet to planet while I waited for a good side quest to pop up in between or during a mission. And it didn't make sense. You complete 1 of 3 missions involved in liberating a planet but then put the other 2 on hold while you complete a side mission at some hidden cerberus base all the way across the galaxy? It breaks the feeling of urgency the game is trying create. I think that ME2 had the better quest and story structure where side missions didn't expire so you could complete them when it made sense to you.

I agree with Lucy on all parts! More of each of those points! Seb should just stay away.

The next Mass Effect should just be a boxing game, because the scenes where you punch the reporter were the only things that worked for me.

Although this would probably require Wrex to die, I actually think that his death would make a good canon outcome for the sake of having Wreav be an antagonist. :x

- I want to be able to choose the race for my protagonist. I am so tired of playing human and there are awesome races like the Turians, Krogans, Asari... Also their customization.

- Mention of the past actions and their consequences. If I picked destroy I want dead Reapers, if I picked synthesis I want to see merged organics and synthetics, cured(?) Genophage, Geth-Quarian life and etc.

- Some cameos or mentions of old friends and acquaintance. Liara (the Shadow Broker) is way important in the lore of ME just to be left behind. In fact I want more SB, I love secret and sinister plots.

- Revelation about what the Quarians and the Volus look like under their suits. Random photo from Google doesn't count! Also never happened!

I would say good story and companions but that is mandatory and no brainer.

My wishlist for the new ME game would be:

1. Home base customisation (Asteroid/space station/planet)

2. Make your space ship part of the story. Building it up or tinkering with it would be awesome.

3. Deep and interesting characters like ME2

4. Proper exploring. Either via the Mako or small dropships.

5. Tattoos! I want to get ink done while I am shopping around on a space station.

6. Lock up the main character as a side quest and let me try and escape (Riddick/Guardians).

There are so many possibilities. I wanna work for Bioware!

the next ME game will probably just be a "remastered" Mass Effect 1 with hi-res textures and 4K support. seems to be the trend nowadays to re-release games not even 10 years old and act like it's some huge deal.

though i wouldn't mind a good excuse to replay, what is in my opinion, the best of the series.

"You're awful!" "I know!" LOL.

I liked ME2 the best, ME3 a bit too dumbed down. Hope they get the balance of fighting and RPG right.

Also ME3 all of the best characters were carry overs, the game felt empty. I hope it is a completely new story and characters, maybe a statue of Shepherd or something.

When I replay ME1 I dread the Mako, just so boring. Like the idea of traveling on planets if they can do it well.

Beyond all that they'll be lucky to write such a great story with such vivid characters again.

Well considering that at the end of ME3 we have millions stranded on Earth, no more interstellar travel and the Mysterious Glowing Blue Boy I have really REALLY low expectations for ME4. Especially since Bioware originally said it was a trilogy when they released the first game. Then their EA masters said "no no we are making it a franchise".

So yeah my faith in Bioware is pretty much in the gutter. Though Inquisition did show me they haven't totally lost it and been absorbed into the EA collective.

Lucy, did you get an awkward Alistair reunion because you didn't use the Keep?

I'm against over-simplification, but I spent way too long in a clunky menu turning useless things into omni-gel that I didn't need just to make room in Mass Effect.

@Afinati: That would be one of those things that the dev fixes rather than reach a conclusion of, "we should get rid of the concept of loot and inventory altogether. Then nobody will be able to knock us for crappy inventory management.

No multiplayer for the sake of it, no dumbed down RPG aspects, no fixating the whole game on character side-quests a la ME2.

@Ultramarinus: I disagree on the character quests being integrated to the whole game. I think that is what set apart ME2 in the series that it led the player to develop relationship with them and understand them. And those quests never felt like side-quests to me, instead they were so well tied into the core story that I felt almost compulsory to do them

@crusaderprophet@Ultramarinus: There was no main story at all, their side-quests were the main story. The whole game was like 3 quests if you ignored them. I did them all, saved them all, loved some but as far as the whole story goes, last ME2 DLC contained more actual main story than whole of ME2.

@Ultramarinus@crusaderprophet: I am pretty sure you cannot skip all the recruitment missions. You missed the point of the plot, the main story involved the pain of putting together a team so I do not see how the recruitment missions can be ignored as main story. Yeah sure the loyalty missions could be viewed as side quests, but again in my opinion they were well integrated as well.

@crusaderprophet@Ultramarinus: It was kinda like a 80% of Fellowship of the Ring being spent in Rivendell, gathering companions, "and my axe!" dialogues followed by a fight with a gigantic Nazgul, ending abruptly like that while effectively nothing of matter happened between ME1 and ME3. It's like a side-quest of ME1 with massively dumbed down RPG elements.

@saturatedbutter: they have deleted our conversation for some reason. guess gamespot likes guys in g-strings.

honestly i never would've gotten into games at all if they all had guys wearing g-strings. but there are always alternatives.

just curious, but do you listen to music performed by sexy dressed girls or watch movies with over-sexed female roles? seems the same type situations.

@elessarGObonzo@suppaphly42: Just out of curiosity, if about 90% of all the games featured dudes in g-strings, would you still simply avoid these games and wouldn't whine about it? :) I like sexy armor, but when it's the only choice for female character, it is bothering.

I loved the ending to 3. I dont necessarily want the Reapers gone because they change the dynamics of the entire universe. If you did control or synthesize, then the world has access to every previous generations technology and everything else. Think of how much that opens the game up? A new illusive man trying to take over the reapers? Extremist factions trying to destroy reapers and anything they helped? All sorts of possibilities.

Here is what I don't want: microtransactions and abusive DLC ala Evolve.

Yeah, I know, this is EA. But one can dream.

The freaking complaining about the ending of Mass Effect 3 and the game in general should be left in the dust. That's the one thing that is still ruining it for me, the constant complaining that keeps popping up. And I wouldn't rmind seeing some old faces back, because I still think there should definitely be a connection between all the things we've done in the previous three games, and the new one.

I mean, isn't that hat all the bitching is still about too? That we wanted more impact and all that?

II'm still mostly worried that all this bitching has caused them COMPLETELY scrap all that happened and that you did, and even if the game is super awesome, I would still feel like that is the biggest shame, because THEN nothing we did would have actually really mattered.

@XHawk222: doesn't matter how ME3 is written i guess. if the kids can't understand the story they'll just release a "DLC" that changes and completely undermines what the original idea was about.

I love the Mako, it is a good concept (granted, with a not so great execution) and I missed it on ME2. I'm thrilled that it will come back, I'm sure Bioware is more than capable of delivering planetary exploration with all of the qualities ME1 have but none of the flaws.

Some pretty basic stuff I want to see in the next Mass Effect:

- NO FREAKING MOUSE ACCELERATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111one!111!

- Properly customisable controls, not only one button for interacting, running and whatever else. Sure it's needed on controllers, but keyboards have a few more buttons, just a few.

- Bring back overheating, throw away those silly thermal clips! Going from unlimited ammo to limited ammo seems like a pretty strange choice for weapon manufacturers and armies.

- ME1/ME3 hybrid for levelling up.

Everyone is dying to know my opinion about this video so here it is. The piece is good but everyone is trying to be a celebrity on these sites these days. The "comedy" bits look forced and just appear to give employees face time. Maybe I would like them if they looked organic and were maybe a little funny but come on. You take away the dialogue between these 2 and you have a tight concise well done piece.

Create a whole new set of characters... I suggest you model the main protagonist after Trevor from GTA and get Neil Patrick Harris to do the voice.

If you're going to have boobies or balls, depending on preference, include strip clubs and triple jubilee aliens.

I think they can add 'side-quests' that don't involve probing moons and looking for random crap.
