This is the only behind the scenes with the new and old staff that has been on since Jeff and the others left. Anyway, my heart goes out to them whom they retire. I don't mind watching what they're thinking about the process of rewards for the games of this year.
Warhammer Online!!! Whats tough is that Warhammer Online premiered this year, but its only through aggressive tweaking and patching throughout the year that it has become my favorite game. So, while some may have tried Warhammer at launch and been only mildly impressed, and then many returned to WoW for the Lich King release, I really urge GS to make sure at least one editor is up-to-date on the latest gameplay of Warhammer Online, because its an outstanding game. I never got into WoW, and have never really been into mmorpg or even rpg of any kind in the past, but WAR has devoured my time like no other game in the past 30 (!) years.
I hope Super Smash Bros. Brawl wins. I really thought that game was great. It was filled with tons of unlockable content and has infinite replay value.
I like Braid, lets keep small market folks, heavy on ideas and ingenuity in business and not worry about the mega every is going to gush blockbusters like halo, gears, and gta already. great things can come in small packages (like Paper Mario for the Wii)
GTAIV makes a really good first impression, i loved it. But looking back, its the only GTA i haven't pumped many hours in after completion, the whole dating sim thing just makes me not want to touch it again and I have less than no interest in the DLC. Fallout 3 is also an excellent game but the more i play it, the more I wish it was the next Elder Scrolls, I miss trees! But thats obviously just my preference. MGS4 would be my game of the year, the online component is junk but the single player is the sort of thing i'l dig out in 5 years time and enjoy it just as much. Though if either of these win it will be well deserved.
PS3 = GTA 4 LBP MGS 4 360 = GTA 4 Gears 2 Fallout 3 Wii = Wii Fit SSBB Mario Kart MGS4 = I have it and honestly I thinks it's way over-rated. Resistance 2 = Also have but IMO it's too similar to Fall of Man Fallout 3 = Not a huge single player only game fan but still was amazing. LBP = Amazing PS3 game, long playability time Overall Game of the Year = GTA 4 ^ Nothing came close to this game and since it was the first next-gen GTA it was the hands down winner, ( some may say it was nothing close to San Andres but still IMO all the hype for this game....I mean come on) Biggest let downs = Mercenaries 2 SOCOM Confrontation= I still have hope for the new updates ENDWAR Army of Two Brothers in Arm's Hells Highway = Greatest Fail of 2008
I'm thinking, in terms of user friendliness and hours of non-stop gameplay, LBP is the definite choice. There is really no age limit to the game, no gore (although you can kill Sackboy/girl a few ways), and is a real step forward for the gaming industry. MGS4 is also a great choice, but I'm only thinking that LBP is appropriate for all ages.
Game of the year outright? There's 3 that I can't make my mind up for!! Grand Theft Auto 4 Metal Gear Solid 4 Fallout 3 We shall see ;) HANG ON!! Was GTA4 last year?????
MGS4 all the way fallout doesnt stand a chance and yea i have all of the games that are up there and are actually worth it... but mgs$ long story memorable moments with flash backs will let know only to the true gamers of this game that it was perfect most people just are to impatient to watch everything so they suck... i think this game was way beter and fall out is just so open but not really much of an interesting story honestly i prefer roaming everywhere more than beating the game and that wasnt how it was ment to be im glad i bought it and like it but yea not game opf the year for me
PS3 = AutoLose, its rated the number 3 system, for the games that were relased on xbox360 and ps3 at first you might think there close, you might think about how the ps3 has superior gfx, however the bottem line is this, xboxlive is far far superior to ps3 live... The match makeing, the level of skilled players the amount of skilled players and the amout of time it takes to create and fill a game on xbox 360 live totaly domniates the weak attempt at "ps3 live"
I think that all of these games will win at least one category. What I'm lookin at is whether PS3 beats Xbox 360. For the PS3 we have: Metal Gear Solid 4:Guns of the Patriots Resistance 2 Little Big Planet For the Xbox 360 we have: Braid NHL 09 The other ones don't count coz theyre either on both or on the PC. Personally, I'm hoping for a PS3 win.
Best year in gameing history? I'm a bit skeptical, I'd say the most let downs. Don't get me wrong, FALLOUT 3 and MGS4 kicked major butt. But, lets reflect on which games were either highly dissapointing or just mediocre or updates. Far Cry 2 Mercenaries 2 Call of Duty 4 (enemies would just be infinite) NFS undercover BAJA GTA IV (good game but already been done, mediocre) Mirrors edge Star Wars Force unleashed (it had its bad points) MK vs. DC (did it really meet the hype?) SOCOM: confrontation There were more dissapointments this year than any other. Yea, there may have been some cross console games that are great like Bioshock or Eternal Sonata, but those aren't new.
can't believe it, people vote for a movie in a game contest. MGS4 was good but I never found a reason to have it another go. The story was full of nonsense story about foxes and other stuff. The best is GTAIV, it has everything. MGS4 is all about hiding and watching clips. And MGonline is soooo bad. Bad organization and awful gameplay. Little Big Planet and Brawl are the 2nd and 3rd place.
