GTA4 rly cant win, it was good but when compared against games like fallout and mgs4 it really just cant compare.

For me Fallout must be up there,cant rule out MGS4 aswell, and of corse LBP is amazing! :D

I would like to see GTAIV GOTY... Its amazing. But to be fair, there are lots of other choices. This year was amazing, wish there was something more for these great game developers that deserve more appreciation. Not that we don't appreciate them but a great GAME have to be recognized by everyone and not just by people that like that type of games. I play nearly every type of game - Racing [arcade or sim], FPS, Action, Strategy and more except for puzzle games hehe. Have to admit, GTA IV gives me more satisfaction when playing it. I would vote for it. Hope there are a lot more years like this one for all us gamers!!

I agree with MGS4 being GOTY! And no, 1998 is a lot better than 2008 in terms of gaming.

I just cant wait for the awards. I have got to admit that I am very......'curious'...Indeed, gamespot are having a tough time deciding about the GOTY.

Gee, i have no idea which will win. GTA IV is probably the favourite since its one of the highest rated games of all time. Little Big planet would be second, followed by gears. MGS might get it from gamespot, but it was'nt as highly hailed everywhere else as GTA was. Prince Of persia could be a dark horse as well now, seeing as its getting rave reviews from everywhere. Either way, its been a bloody good year for gaming.

GTA 4 Game Of The Year

2008 had so many great games,. I really can't pick one. I loved MGS4, still enjoying Gears 2 and want to play Fable and Fallout again. Mario Kart Wii was lots of fun. The World Ends With You is probably my favorite game of the year, if not my favorite hand held game. I have yet to open Resistance 2 due to my abundance of great game selection! I promise to crack that bad boy up before 2009! This year was a great year to own any or all three home consoles.

Im just gonna be pissed if GTAIV gets game of the year... it didnt do anything specail, just through the same style of game at use with upgraded story and graphics and cut some awesome stuff from san andreas. I hate to say it but MGS4 will rake in sick amount of awards, even tho i hope it doesn't cause i despise the cheese lame story of every MGS game... depsite sick graphs. games definetly seen will be gears2, fable 2, fallout 3, far cry, mgs, little big planet, resistance, braid, prince of persia.

MGS4 will be the winner even though I hate Sony and all there gaming series are stupid. Far Cry 2 should be on that list so easily and definetly outranks COD 5. Hopefully GTA 4 for the XBOX 360 beats Sony's MGS4, that will make me laugh.

fallout3 was game the year for me, best $60 i ever spent. i know its RPG of year hands down.

In my Opinion the nominees for Game of the year for 2008 should be Gears of War 2 Grand Theft Auto IV Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots Fallout 3 & Little Big Planet

I think it'll be easy enough to get an idea about the nominees based on the holiday gift guide. Still, at least the actual awards will announce the winners and that's always exciting to see.

2008 is big, but they are wrong 2007 is still bigger. But in the end 2007 and 2008 will be remembered together.
