@Analgrin - Sorry mate but a Dual Core 2, 2gb of Ram and an 8600 (even the top end CPU, 4gb of ram and sli 8800 will struggle) wont really play much now mate. To play most games on anything over medium you will always need a semi decent GFX less than a couple of years old (fair enough a cpu can maybe chug on for a while) but for games like BF3 with almost totally destructible scenario and 64 players you need a decent spec machine - my friend with a 2 year old PC struggles with BF3. Im sorry but this tablet will be struggling with games by the time it comes out, the way forward with any of these things really will be cloud esq computing. Good battery life, good portability and all the benefits of a high end PC on a proper tablet. I can already tell you this thing will run hot and not very long.
The only two things that are going to be a problem with this is the amount of HDD space and RAM it will have available. Oh and maybe the obvious low resolution of that screen.
I don't see how this can be compared to PC gaming. It takes away some of the major advantages, the keyboard/mouse and the ability to upgrade. I'd rather just get a laptop.
hmmm... i have a laptop i can play games on, i have a Wii and a 360, also getting an iPad 2 soon so i do not see the need for this! it is cool though! i bet it will be VERY expensive to buy!
Depending on the graphics card..I wouldn't laugh at it too much..it has a THIRD GEN intel i7 cpu in it FFS..so $1k for one of these isn't too bad..it's the ammount of ram..and the onboard graphics that scare me. but..as I said..3rd gen i7 (ivy bridge) how many of you have one of those RIGHT now? none..because it isn't even public yet! (mind you..I'm not A fanboy of intel..I'm using a amd based pc right now. and I Loathe tablets and apple products) If it is indeed A desktop replacement in a tablet and can crunch some 3dmarks..$1k would make this A steal.. (There are high end cpus alone that cost $1k alone...) Not to mention it is also THX certified...so you hook it up to a decent sound system..and it will kick your ipods sound quality to the curb as well ;) But what got me is the inclusion of the i7 ivy bridge cpu in it..That is astounding.
Great idea but do we really think this will sell enough to be worth 1K? If it was like 650 i might buy it but i have a feeling i'll put Skyrim, ME3, SWTOR, and, Guild Wars 2 on there and then run out of space.
problem with it is that its just like a laptop. no room for improvment. also i laugh at his "its hardcore PC gaming" comment when it shows terraria images
Looks amazing!! The "Future" of handhelds? Can do anything a PC can do? 1K is a lot but after you buy memory for your VITA, and ames your close to that price anyway. LMAO!!
$1K for a gaming PC is NOT "too much", let alone a gaming laptop -- consider what you're comparing it to. That said, this is actually impressive enough to make me consider a jump back into PC gaming. For the last 5-7 years I've bought probably 1 PC games per year, as opposed to 70-80 console. This absolutely changes the potential dynamic, given all the standard inputs.
Sure its pricey and battery will probably last 20 minutes... But what a concept! i've been waiting for tablets to start wowing us like this. This is going to be the future. Nintendo and Sony should probably start investing in this area.
@leoansa2 PC games haven't evolved that much over the last 4 years, the original crysis from 2007 is still one of the best looking games out there. A top of the range pc from 4 years ago can still run most of todays games fine so I think this will be future proof for a while at least. The next gaming evolutionary leap (and therefore essential pc upgrade) will be after the next generation consoles come out
wait im confused. did he mean that you could be playing a game on your pc and then you could stop playing on your pc and pick up your tablet and start playing where you left off on your pc or is he talking about using a mouse and keyborad hooked up to the tablet and then you just disconnect the mouse and keyborad and then take it with you and play on the run
Damn! Well done! $1.000 totally worth it, although not for me XD @PeterDuck you're right! A gaming tablet for legacy games would be bone breaking!!! To bad everybody is always looking too forward :-D
Wow, to run today's games for $1000? It sounds somewhat enticing I have to admit. If it's not to heavy, it has an HDMI port, and is usable with a pen, then it might have a potential buyer :)
Well, it's a neat concept at least. It just doesn't seem very practical considering the limits of current technology (I mean the battery would probably last about 2 hours), not to mention the price is a bit high for the economy right now.
Big price and spec for something so small. Ideal for bus and train commuters but not whilst driving a car lol. Awesome for long flights too i would think. I can't see it having a good battery life tho.
$1,000... Well, the Wii-U has nothing to worry about from this gadget. It is an awesome idea though. Maybe they'll release lower end versions within the $500-$600 range. Because my laptop runs Fallout 3 on medium settings (which still looks good) and only cost me $450 back in 2010. So a laptop with 360 quality graphics will probably cost around $500 in 2012.
What a terrible idea - lets take a pad and make it 3 times bigger. Next lets charge people $1000 knowing it wont be able to play the games in 6 months time. Next lets fit in force feed back (eats battery power), a big CPU needed to play these games (eats battery power) and finally a semi decent gfx and physics unit (eats battery power) so what do we recon.......30minutes? To be honest i cant really see many positives from this at all, has fail pretty much written all over it.
I'm a little worried about the build quality on these things--IGN noted that the prototype they used had major framerate issues after some play time and actually shut off on its own. If Razer can iron out the kinks and get this thing working properly, it could be a great device.
