DayZ Diaries - Part 5: How I Couldn't Just Kill A Man

I am sorry but a game that is PVP all the time is just stupid. I like survival horror but just PVP all the time on is just not worth my time. Yes I installed the game and logged in to nowhere and then heard that I can be killed at the new spawn point. Sure as anything someone came gunning and killed me. Sorry but make PVP and PVE servers NOW!

Playing with multiple PC's from the same IP address needs some modifications.

You have to add a port to the "start-up parameter" like.... -port25010

For a second PC -port25012, third -port25014, fourth -port25014 etc......

And make sure all PC's on the same IP have a different port number

(These parameters can be configured by creating a new shortcut on your desktop and then adding the appropriate option in the target line.

For Steam version:

Choose the game shortcut in Library, Right click on the game, Select properties, Hit "Set launch options")

What is this Day-Z? It seems to be everwhere yet I don't have quite the interest to click on it, but just curious enough to know what the hell it is. So, what is the big deal with it?

Nice , i hope they do more bandits in part 6 , its was exciting when they killed that guy but i felt sorry for him xD you guys rock, actually dan is a good player but im looking forward to see ed play and turn into the "Dark Side" :D

DayZ is weird. It only really workswell when you can't, or refuse, to play it well.

Once you learn how easy it is to avoid zombies and gather supplies and weapons the "survival" part of the mod becomes very very easy to the point of being a nonfactor.

The zombies are absolutely no threat once you learn how they operate. And it's really easy to gather food and assault rifles to make them pointless. There is no real danger. So it pretty quick becomes purely pvp. And the pvp is the same as ArmA itself.

I really feel for you guys. Whenever I play RPGs I just cant bring myself to be evil, as tempting as it is. Killing that guy must have been so hard to do!

Hahaha, that was the worst (or best?) episode yet. So much fail!! Funny though.

I don't know why people dislike 1st person mode so much though. Maybe it's because my neck is a constant swivel with alt. I am constantly surveying my surroundings at all times with my sound turned up, so maybe that's why I don't have a problem with it.

Overall though I both like and dislike how you two played through. The 'throwaway' lives are funny to watch, but the serious playthroughs are what really make the game fun for me. Maybe the compromise is to try out both. Try and survive, and if you fail, go nuts and just troll the game.

Perhaps a dual stream with you two (Dan & Ed) might make for a more enjoyable 'serious attempt'. Although, if you're going to do another 'fun' run, do it on a night server XD!

My only REAL complaint with this episode was that I couldn't really hear the games sound. I did very much prefer it (though turn off the music). I was never unable to hear you two even with the games sound up.

I lucked out hard my first playthrough. After nabbing an axe I took off for the woods, stumbled across some well hidden tents of another player loaded with supplies.

next time instead of standing there getting hit by the ladder... run through the tents to one of the other four deer stands... you can always break line of sight and buy yourself some time

Around 8:18, that corpse had been shot. You can tell because there are two specific blood streams. Since he was still bleeding, he was still in the process of dying, he was unconcious and bleeding out. If you see a corpse like that, GET OUT. That means there is most likely a bandit nearby.

I thought they were saying "mackerel", lol. Kill him with a mackerel!

True he's so laughably bad i couldn't help but shout at the screen.. (Look Behind You!!!) he never covers his rear.. he walks into a building keeping his back to the door.. what a moron! No wonder he gets axed in the back all the time. Guess he never played and online FPS.

The person playing is terrible, like so frustratingly bad its hard to watch. The other guy should take over. Not know the controls? Seriously?

Lol whats the problem? I kill people in DayZ without any trouble. Its the thrill of the hunt, Your prey is just as intelligent as you are and humans are most dangerous animals on earth. I feel like a predator when playing this game, find your prey, follow, strike at perfect moment and loot (which i see as taking trophies) and vanish like a ghost while other people tremble because they know that their death is near.
