@Nexus_Gage I'm not a big fan of RPGs either, but this game is awesome. Is so addicting even though you die hundreds of times.

not too much into rpgs..... but i think i'll make an exception this once..... this game looks worth it!!!! :D

@kiopta1 I think melee classes are significantly more difficult. With magic you can increase your defense (warding), help hide your presence from enemies (cloak) and not to mention attack from a distance, out of their melee range and where it's easier to avoid projectiles. Not to mention Crescent and Moon upgraded weapons can make a magic-user good for melee, too.

I always played as warriors and knights...how is the game if you use mostly magic? Much harder?

this game kinda reminds me of fable only 1 issue fable was too easy

this game needs a seqal but still it takes like 4 years to make an aoesome game like bf bad company and some games that take game of the year look at fable 3 great game tok a lot of time but not yet the game in a way sucks

I think that Uncharted is one of the most over hyped games. I have played and completed both games in series. I am not saying they are bad, No they are good games and fun to play but there is nothing special or challenging about those games. Good & fluid graphics but very very silly puzzles. Action is fine but so what. So much over hype for a simple game which you dont want to even touch it after you complete it once. And it is not even a very lengthy game. Not hating on it but I am surprised why it is so much over hyped. Demon's souls deserves to be GOTY. Just a superb game.

@hardeddie Thanks for agreeing. Apparently Gamespot doesn't, and they deleted my message. But it eases my mind to hear there are still people who like REAL games, not just the 600th COD game to be created in the last 3 years. :)

@ daftpunk7 I agree Demon Souls are for real hardcore gamers. Yes uncharted2 was fun, but nothing gives for deep story, excellent game play, pure online fun, superb graphics, and finally a game that I will not finish in a day. Worth every penny. Each gamers will have their own preference but Demon Souls is aimed for veteran gamers or any rpg fans. This has got to be one of the more enjoyable PS3 exclusive after MGS, but thats me. Everyone is entitle to their own opinion. Happy Gaming :)

uncharted is way better

I don't know if its the game of the decade... But easily its the best game that's come in the last 5-7 years I personally know a lot of PC gamers that actually got their PS3 only for this game

I can agree with this.

This game is amazing. It kicks your ass so much that when you do accomplish something it feels awesome. It's actually not extremely difficult (except bosses), just punishes you for screwing up or doing something stupid.

For me assassins creed 2 will always be the best game of 2009

@princeuncharted Who cares about popularity,popularity doesn't make a game good,gameplay does.Modern Warfare 2 has loads of sales but it still isn't great like CoD4 was.Uncharted 2 is a good game but I've spent many more hours on Demons Souls. I'll use another example,Britney Spears has sold millions of albums but I've never met anyone who has said she's good that's over the age of 12. Buy Demons Souls and you'll see what we are all on about.

Ok this is the game works. You die from a creature you learn but you dont know whats going to happen in the next second ( such as player invading you, spell castes, traps, spike from the floor, shooting arrows from walls, ETC ). You have to play the game before you say anything bad about it because it certainly not, ahahhaah I killed and thats it, its ahhaha I killed you what the hell is going to happen next. Theres more then that you just have to play the game yourself because it is Death in the next corner. P.S. Watch out I am coming for you.

Demon's Souls definitely deserves game of the year for 2009. I enjoyed all the other games but I've put over 100 hours into Demons Souls and am still playing it, and I picked it up the day it came out. Innovative, deep, and unforgiving. Amazing game.

a game doesnt deserve gamespot's game of the year because OTHER people think more highly of it. its cool if you disagree with them, but it's their opinion.

Uncharted 2 is the best game !!!!!!!!!! Go to gamerankings and see the rank of uncharted 2 and demonb souls. Uncharted 2 is 6th and demon souls is below 300 rank. Uncharted 2 truly deserves game of the year.

Demon's Souls is the most fun game I've ever played. Having spent more than 150 hours in this game, I've still not seen or done everything this game has to offer. I have two level 120 characters: one focused on dexterity and magic; and the other on strength and faith. After many hours of playing I've discovered that it is impossible to make an all powerful character in Demon's Souls that will render the game too easy. Demon's Souls has probably the best balance for all of its possible character builds. No single build can be dominant if the player is not good enough. This is the game that not only rewards gameplay skill in its purest form, but also gives its player the roleplaying elements to customize his character any way he wants.

Man when i first saw this i was like what?! That game won? I've never even heard of it. Then I saw the reviews to see what made it such a good game because im no hypocrite and then rented it when i got the chance and now i feel like a big jerk for not buying the game when it came out. Demon's Souls is awesome and for those who bash it gotta get over losing the GOTY awards.

This game has only just come out in the UK and having put in 10 hours I can safely say it is the best game since MGS4. Easily game of the year for me, not even a controversial decision. Some people* seem point out revolutionary aspects of the game as flaws - one reader even called the lack of a checkpoint system dated - I don't suppose many have played this game then but those who have know the truth. * Idiots

I'm seeing so many retarded comments, seriously all of you keep saying something else should have won but don't seem to even consider that this is an AMAZING game. Hell yeah it's difficult, hell yeah you have to start the level over if you die (and unlike what some people say this it has no "checkpoints" DS tries to make sure this doesn't feel like a game by having you unlock shortcuts instead), and hell yeah if you suck at REAL games where it's up to YOU to do well then yes you ARE going to die. But, if you die, it's all your fault, not the game's fault. It's always fair, difficult, but fair. I can't think of any other game as deep as this one, there are so many different weapons and so many tricks to learn. And the multiplayer? It's freaking amazing, I have never had my heart pump faster for any other game, being invaded in Demon's Souls is the scariest moment in gaming I have ever felt. If you don't like this game, you either never played it (on your own account, and actually put effort into it), are too little, or too pampered by the games today that hold your hand. BUY THIS GAME.
