It sure seems like a fun concept. However, I know better than to think it will be pulled off well. My natural weariness kicks in with this game.

Why is this even branded as a Tom Clancy game? There's nothing remotely related to that brand in this game.

The shooting looks horrible. How many times do you have to shoot someone in the head 3 meters away until they go down, 5? lol

The game was never advertised as a loot game. It was advertised as a tactical, realistic, squad-based game for the last 2 years. People were excited by the fact that a "car door could be closed by walking next to it". Realism.

This is not the same game. The fact that they went all loot based with bullet-sponge enemies killed the whole game. It looks so stupid when it's just guys in hoodies without "force fields" or anything to justify it.

@Atragon: Almost totally agree with you. For me, the bullet-sponge enemies is a nice touch. Just like any RPG. You will need to kill it with a lot of hits. Sounds good to me. And kind of new for a "modern era" shooter.

@Atragon: Yea I think they clearly or tried to inform everyone that the game is going to have RPG element in the unveiling when ryan pulls out his the watch it clearly say skill. and ryan got exp for every kill. Plus if you listen to the conversation among the squad the person who is control the drone used a group buff on the team. megan used a team heal. what realistic shooter give you group buff and healing abilities. the gameplay was captured in the darkzone it shown when he pulled up the maps. Now the citizen being in the darkzone is missed leading, but everything else was spot on to today current gameplay. also at the end very oddly they made a reference to going to Manhattan.

@emdaron: It has the prefix "Tom Clancy's" - that name is associated with games and stories based around geo-political conflict and counter-terrorism grounded in somewhat of a tactical and pseudo-realistic setting. Bullet sponges do not fit in those parameters.

@XAGMNINETY: The PC embargo was today. I can now tell you the HUD has a lot of customization on PC. You can scale everything down so it doesn't get in your way.

he wrong about envision of the game because the first game play we saw was in the dark zone. http://static9.cdn.ubi.com/resource/en-US/game/tomclancy-thedivision/game/7_old-AgentMap_195936.jpg. so they are spot on from what they showed us at e3. I'm not going to give too much information on the game because I plan killing everyone in the dark zone when the beta drops. So everything I have learn doing the alpha I'm not sharing but good luck, and watch your back.

@Raekwon20: We saw level 20 guns. They didn't seem much different in the build we were shown. I'm very interested in what your experience was however. What changed?

@AirDog80:the shoot out on the roof I played about three time the first time with one extra squad member and the second time with a two extra squad member the third time with two extra squad but the third time around I was using lower level guns, because the one of my squad member I was playing with the third time around was a low level himself and I didn't want to take from his experience. it was two hard for us being even with me being at the max level. so I put on our guns we had acquired from the darkzone, then it was a walk in the park. also if you only shoot enemy in the body like in most of the footage shown then your going to have bullet sponge but with a will place shot to the head then they will died faster. if you have a shotgun and you shot then in the body it can take up three shots but if you shot them in the head then it can take one or two depend on how will place the shots is. also I we manage to find some level 16 enemy in the dark zone and they were hella strong the could shot you one time and down you.

@AirDog80: That's curious to me, because the weapons were good. Unlike a lot of games that have no muzzle climb, this one you had to pay attention to no just holding the trigger down. that's one major component I liked. I also noticed a difference from the early weapons to later on. So I was very surprised to hear the comments in the video that the shooting was "ok", because it doesn't feel like that at all.

@vitaminbp1: I think a lot of what made the weapons feel as if they had no punch to them had to do with the enemy AI not reacting or staggering properly. We did see a lot of recoil during our play session. I also found that the circular, radio style, hit markers made all your shots feel soft.

@AirDog80: Ahh that I can understand. I didn't notice it personally, so it didn't bother me, but I could see how that could be disconcerting. I wouldn't be surprised at all if they add more reaction to the AI. The hit markers didn't stand out to me but hopefully like many other mmos, they will ofter option to turn off the number indicators or give some other option to adjust them to accommodate more player's preferences.

I just loved how the AI would flank you and use cover themselves, and not just simply sit there being open targets. And not sure what you thought of the cover system, and I didn't play gears of war much, but this cover system I loved, it was easy to use and unlike other cover systems that I cant think of a good reference at the moment but this was worked better than others I've played.

Overall I love the premise of the story, the scale of the map, the fact that it's NYC, and the environment just felt very believable and added to the fun of it.

@vitaminbp1: I completely agree about aggressive AI. In a team of three if you don't coordinate and hold the line you get quickly flanked and killed. The cover system will come down to taste. It's very simplified with the game making all stance decisions. I grew frustrated at the lack of kneeling or prone both in and out of cover. People who like the Gears games will probably be fine with it and be right at home with the dive roll. I'm a much bigger fan of Ghost Recon Phantoms system. I demoed it here. https://twitter.com/asampsongame/status/689605276274528256

@AirDog80: I completely agree with stance options, and I'll be putting that in my beta feedback for sure. I definitely want prone.

I thought there was an option to crouch though when not in cover?

It's an RPG, not a shooter, and that's just fine with me.

Recent video which answers player questions such as map size, matchmaking("if you want to play with someone, we're making it very easy to do so), endgame(lol - sounds unfinished based on the video), and dark zone philosophy(ruleless): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=22628ymhE3Q

In my opinion, this game is as much like Destiny as it's like Borderlands(not very). Given the negative feelings many have in regards to Destiny, I feel using it as a benchmark for an rpg shooter is an unfair comparison. If you like non-fantasy RPGs that allow co-op and ruleless PvP(zoned) then you should enjoy The Division.

Gamespot really seems to dislike this game and I'm not sure why. I've seen a lot of positive coverage elsewhere. I get that people who wanted semi-realistic shooter mechanics are not happy but just because it has an RPG emphasis does not make it a bad game. Also, since we're comparing this to Destiny so much, why aren't we comparing it to Borderlands? Just curious because I honestly think the game is more akin to Borderlands than Destiny. Heck, I think it's closer to Diablo than Destiny (admittedly, all three are a bit of a reach but Destiny is the worst).

For me, the main things I care about are: Is it fun? Does it have more than a few hours of content? Can I play with friends? Getting hung up on the 2013 tech demo or the fact that it's more RPG than shooter just seems picky if the game is fun. I do get that if you hate RPGs and love shooters this sucks and to that I would say I'm sorry and maybe go play siege, squad, arma, cs, etc... I love the fact that it will have some matchmaking.

I'll be playing this when it comes out.

@kappamerc: I totally agree, In 2012 when this game trailer was released I almost lost my sh%t! But now, not so much, Ubisoft is the main reason. Can'tr trust them anymore. BUT... I will wait. Wait for the reviews and gameplay videos of the "final product". And wait a little more if the game will be severed is hundreds of DLC/microtransactions parts, and whatever.

Theeeennn... I will consider buying it.

The game itself... his characteristics are pretty interesting for me. The idea is genius. Let's just hope they do it right.

These guys are way off base on this game. I also find it funny that they are trying to complain that they can't play this game solo as it's meant to be a coop social game. If you want a single player game, go play one, but you can't hold solo against a game that wasn't meant to be completely solo.

@vitaminbp1: That plus the fact that the developer has said a few times that you can play solo and the game scales in difficulty. The main difference is that you will need a balanced build when playing solo.

The guys asking the questions seemed really miffed about the entire game and it's frustrating because they don't bring up any of the strong points about the game or the really great things that make it nothing like Destiny.

I will just wait a single week after the game be released. Then, make up my mind. Pre ordering a Ubisoft game is very, very... VERY risk.

So what you are saying is both game play clips from the game shows from the last 2 years is completely cg and not actual people playing the game because it was a "vision" ubi had? The game looks like it hit a huge nose dive from what we will be getting. The shooting mechanics needs to be as good or better then all Tom Clancy games to date. Its normal game improvement. The RPG world seems to be scaled down a bit with the real RPG sense of the game. New York is Huge why cant they scale it to size? Assassins Creed did a good job right?
