Is Beyond Good & Evil As Good As You Remember? | Nostalgia Trip

I replayed it recently and found it's as good as I remember. However, that's not to say it's a good game. I really like the characters and world and still perceive the potential for something truly remarkable had they continued developing the IP.

I managed to get a copy for the Gamecube many years ago and whilst it had high production values and played really well, it was over in the blink of an eye and I really started to wonder why it was so coveted. There is nothing wrong with the game its just not this super master piece that people are making it out to be, infact if you did a revisit I bet most people would just get bored and drop off from playing it. This is to me a game that is best played through rose tinted glasses and just remember it for what it was, a decent retro title that will be spoiled if you try garner the original experience from it.

Yes, I went back and played the HD version via Backwards Compatibility. It's still an awesome game.

No it’s not . Unfortunately going back to it now is a drudge fest of rather boring combat and repetitive gameplay with rather clunky controls.However the characters are still zany enough to stand out and voice acting is surprisingly still good.
