DLCs are the worst thing that happened to gaming in the last few years (although micro-transactions are not very far behind), especially in RPGs. The story has ended, the character has leveled up in a pace good enough to keep it challenging. Now they artificially stick content where there was room for none, and screw with the delicate balance they worked to create. All that was created just fill the coffers of the mighty EA. Bioware never did this before.
@Sl1der89 Fine... But it was never this bad. Even in DA, the game which was supposed to be BG spiritual successor was filled with DLCs for everything. They even had on-launch DLCs teasing you like pushers.
@picho86 No one is forcing you to buy DLC, ITs real simple if you don't want it don't buy it, so far no DLC ME has mad has been absolutley esential, shit tons of fun but nothing stopping you from enjoying the game
In the old days u would p lay a game beat it then pray for years that it may get a sequel, now we are privileged enough the game can get add ons
@ihateds2 you're an idiot. Let the guy have his say. By the way . . . . "a commenter being paid by Bioware" is a grade A moron indicator. I agree with @Albaficas I loved the story of ME and a chance to see more of the backstory of the reapers alone is enough to get me playing this BUT THEN AGAIN I'M ONLY SAYING THIS BECAUSE I'M BEING PAID SO MUCH BY BIOWARE £$£$£$£$£$£$£$£$£$£$£ YAY!!!!
I have zero inclination in playing this game anymore. I used to go through Mass Effect 1 and 2 every 4 to 6 months now I can't even look at this trilogy. It's lost is replay value completely for me.
@made_u_look i agree, they killed the legend, just to make some profit.. and thats not the problem really the problem is that they didnt even put some thought on how to kill it.. cause cmon, the ending sucked, and nobody saw it coming.. they ruined everything 4 me..
@Albaficas Sigh, for me the 5 minutes ruined the trilogy. FOR ME, not for you. Reading comprehension is important when reading. I find the story way more important and going back to just shoot stuff like they did with ME3 multiplayer isn't for me.
I wasn't a big fan of combat in ME2 but I played through every (side) mission as I wanted to prepare for the final fight. At the end I was compleetly tired of all the meaningless waves of enemies that got thrown at me. Yet every few months I played ME2 with another ME1 characters just to get them ready for ME3.
Then it turns out ME3 is a big FU to all the fans. Nothing you do has any significant impact on the ending. You can get better endings by playing 5-8 hours of multiplayer then you can from importing a 100 hour character from ME1/ME2.
I too can't play ME3 anymore. I still have two ME2 characters to play ME3 with but what is the point? In the end they have the same endings as my other characters anyway.
I used to be a big fan of Mass Effect, that was until gameplay changed and the story became stupid to me.
This DLC sounds sort of good as they use words like 'exploring' and 'multiple planets'. However if this means shooting through a liniear invironment on muliple planets then I don't care for it.
If it means going to alien planets, exploring a semi-open environment, talking to local NPCs, learn about the area and do side quests then I'd love it. A bit like how the explorable planets in ME1 worked. I hope Bioware will go back to the way they made games like Mass Effect 1, Dragon Age:O, Jade Empire, etc. Games that aren't 85% combat.
@Colekern Of course, Mass Effect 1 was far from perfect. Graphics, lipsyncing and combat are much better in ME2/ME3. Although I do wish that there were more atributes and skills (building up from what ME1 already had, instead of taking away).
@System4Ever more Achievements, new environments, more game play. Yeah the story in general wont change but this is mainly for people who love mass effect and just want more of a reason to play. Plus its not multilayer.
@Ravenshout Technically the X360 and PC version of ME2 runs on a different engine then ME3.
Not that it matters. Colekern's point is that they could have bothered to create new objects and textures. Look at Skyrim's DLC, it has new objects and textures to fill new dungeons with. You don't feel like you've paid for a copy/paste of the original game.
This has been a problem with Bioware DLC since day 1. The first DLC for Mass Effect 1 was a copy/paste of ME1 content. The worst part s that they used objects from the council chamber of the citadel to fill the main room of a space station on an astroid.. It looked so out of place..
What's the point? We already know it this "Weapon" is practically useless. Someone who is going into ME3 fresh and not spoiled at all may get some value out of this, others, not much. For a series that is all about story, DLC that adds no weight to story is rather pointless. the MP DLCs make better sense in overall context than any story DLC ever would.
Anyhow, am not buying till the GOTy Edition comes out at $30 or something, so doesn't make much of difference to me.
@Albaficas I can't speak for everyone but many do care (just look at the likes he is getting).
The only reason you don't seem care is because you are of an opposite opinion. Following that logic you should then be able understand that people who are of a similar opinion do care.
