So I guess most infected in the Last of Us would be on the top floor of sky-scrappers lol

@callsignalpha not necessarily. it does mean that those people are safer but would also infect more people if they were spreading spores.... since it can be carried by the wind longer distances.... i am such a nerd

The Fungus will be used by the Illuminati to create a virus and will spread through the entire world killing millions and millions of people. The Gov is behind every Flu and Virus including HiV (that part was real). We have about ???? left until they release the Virus. There is no escape, there is no cure... well at least not for us.

Nice show! The perfect ending would have been you saying - goodbye and turning walking off. Revealing mushrooms growing on the back of your head :P

Where do you think they get their ideas from? You think MAss effect conjured up the idea for the reapers out of nowhere? no way, The reapers come around every 50'000 years in a very similar way to what cicaders do in South America that come around every 75 years. they come, harvest EVERYTHING, mate and then just simply die, to come around in 75 years time. games and movies are all influenced in someway by nature. Unless they are sht. Like Aliens vs Predator movies and RE movies, they are influenced by utter crap and its pretty obvious just by watching the garbage.

BUUURN IIIIT BUUUUUUUURN IIIIIIIIT BUUUURRRRNNNN IIITT ALLLLLLL.

In all honesty though there are quite a few things that can change or influence behaviors. Also alot of things from games and movies are not always that far fetched. For instance while not really related to this subject in the new adaptation of Planet of the Apes they show a version on how the humans on the planet are made extinct and it is by far not too far fetched ending to us humans. To those who have not seen the movie I will try not to spoil so just to keep it short because of us all now living so close to each other, being clusterd and easy to travel between countries and us also being so dependent on other countries products spreading of diseases can happens extremly fast and worldwide.

Another sad example here in Sweden for instance was the Swine Flu that happend a few years ago that claimed almost 300 000 people in this case the problem was that the flu at first was contained but people being infected did not want to stay in the area and went home to their home countries thus infecting more people because of it. What was sad here was not the Flu though but the so called vaccine for it. We had as low as 3 known deaths in Sweden for the Flu but the vaccine that was released had not gone through the normal checks and was rushed because of hysteria and panic, it was also forced on alot of health care workers and people who interacted with people like day care, schools etc etc.

It has also been hinted at that the vaccine company pushed the goverment so they could make alot of money during the crisis almost a little like in the movie contagion.

To get to the point the vaccine that we were given had a big side effect that it infected our brains and livers I dont know the exact effect but more then 190+ side effects have been documented. More then 10 000+ have gotten narcolepsy from the vaccine, the death toll is also believed to be more then 10 times the amount of people who died in the flu during it's crisis. That being said in this year 6 people have died in the Flu here in Sweden all 6 of them were old with weak immune systems but the flu is still circulating.

I've really managed to get of course here but here is an easy to read and understand article about the Toxoplams gondii like Yurdle below was talking bout.

http://www.viewzone.com/toxo.html

But also as mentioned the evidence for this parasite is at betch sketchy why this is I dont know since in my book if 40% of the human race have now become infected with it should we not look more into it?

PS: Like the show Cam, would really like if you would look into different kind of gamers. Like for instance why do some like shooters, while others like rpgs and some just find it relaxing to build a buzzling city.

I love this new show, keep up the great work Cam and crew! I especially like this episode since I'm a Wild Life Biology student.

However, I must say you really missed out a great example of a parasite/zoonoses called Toxoplasma gondii. This is one of the neatest parasites/invertebrates I've ever learned about in university. Basically, these guys are capable of infecting virtually all warm-blooded animals.

The kicker is that when rodents like rats are infected, Toxoplasma actually influences their behaviour much like Cordyceps. To the advantage of the parasite, the rodents' behaviour is influenced to make them more likely to be preyed upon by cats.

Even crazier? Yes, they infect humans too, and about a third (1/3) of the human population is infected with Toxoplasma. The weird thing is that their effects are unknown, if any, because for some reason they lie dormant within our systems. Some joke (or theorize) that this may be the source of the "crazy cat lady" phenomenon.

Some studies believe Toxoplasma does have behaviour/personality effects in us, but there's not strong evidence yet.

So, Cordyceps infecting humans like in the Last of Us? Unlikely, but never say never, if Toxoplasma is any good example. I'd say it's very difficult because it would take a long time for something drastic to happen, and by then humans would already know what's going on and attempt to solve the problem. There would not be an overnight apocalypse...I hope.

@rockgod44 silent hill's "horror" elements are borrowed from religion (or religious nut-cases anyway), while the last of us' horror is environmental, as the vid suggests

Great episode, Cam. Too bad I'm a PC gamer and I'll not play this game. But well, it's a hit and there will be clones in the future with the same or even higher quality.

@korol_i_shut @JFERNANDEZ84 Yeah, but since I live now in Brazil the prices here are just too high (4 times plus than in America) and I can't gamble a lot around here... :/

I'll keep waiting for some clones... hehe

Anything that I can learn from deserves a thumbs up in my book. Who knew that the Cordyceps infection portrayed in the Last of Us actually exists, and thankfully, not quite as dire to the human population as is in that game.

5 million different species of Fungi on planet earth? That sounds about right.

4 million of which is in my neighbour's kitchen!

I'm not even joking! Alexander Fleming would have discovered more than penicillin it that house! Oh man, does it ever STINK!

Well anyway, thanks for giving me the creeps Cameron, I remember watching that BBC documentary and it gave me the heeby jeebies then.

Besides that, I am liking the new series a lot. Great work
