Reality Check - Why Do We Change Gender? Character Creation Psychology! (Part.2)

Once you start exploring the opposite sexes perspective then........its a sign of something! =D!

For me it's like this:

If the game has romance/sex option, then i prefer to play as a male and "date" all the chicks (e.g. Mass Effect).

But if the game doesn't have romance option, then i prefer to play as a female because i also prefer staring at a woman's rear end rather than a man's (e.g. Kingdom of Amalur).

I've never played as a female character. Never really wanted to. I feel like I can be more immersed and more connected to the character if I play as a male. It would be weird for me, and probably distance me from the game if I were treated differently because I was playing as a female. It's all about immersion for me.

And everyone saying they play as females because they would rather look at a female ass than a guy's, why are you looking at their asses anyway?? I've never even thought to look at my characters ass because I'm looking at the world and the environment, and were I'm actually running to. Sounds like those people have issues being comfortable with their sexuality. Do you do that in real life? If you are standing in a queue in real life behind a guy, are you checking out his ass? Probably not, so why are you doing it in game?

If I have the chance to play a female character with customization, etc...I definitely will. Throughout many years of gaming, the protagonist tends to always be that over-the-top, macho, ripped male and it's gotten old to be honest. Guess I'm just burnt on dudes. I enjoy playing as a badass female. Usually the armor is always more sleek and "fashionable"...and sure, there's the sex appeal, but it really doesn't take the front stage on why I choose to play a female character. I just prefer more of a feminine character. But if there's no option to create a female, I'll definitely chill the male character down from looking like Hercules or Thor...lol

This was the most one sided explanation I've ever heard of, and even though many games sort of pass the Bechdel test( I say sort of because in the test both women must be named characters and in most games the main character really doesn't have a name), that doesn't mean they aren't sexist! As for why I play as a female, well maybe its because I am one and I personally like to immerse myself in the game and gods know not enough games actually give me the chance to play as my own gender. And sadly even when I get to play as a female character I still feel like she was based on an extremely sexist vision of what a heroine should be.

I find female heroes just not as believable they make better supporting characters.

I always play as a female avatar because I really like females they are awesome, I'd much rather look at a girls ass since I'm going to be playing for 10+ hours, I can't get a girl in real life so the girl avatar is sort of my girlfriend lol!

Well he may be digging deep for a few people, but the only reason I like to play as a female is I'd sooner be looking at a hot chick running around my screen than some guys a$$.
