Road to Game Of The Year 2014

@VGjunkie87 I was speaking in relative terms. Every year there've been standouts, and this year I can't think of one. Some have been surprisingly good, but only because these games got no hype (Mordor, Bayonetta, Divinity come to mind).

If you're going to base a 'good' year on solid games, every year is a good year for gaming. This one would still be the worst (despite being 'good') in the last 8 years I would say. This was not a special year for gaming is perhaps what I should say. For me it's been a disappointing one.

Usually each year there are a few very hyped up AAA games, that actually lived up to the hype. This year we've had plenty of hyped up AAAs, but none of them lived up to the hype, and ended up getting 7's and 8's or worse. Even lower profile games that I had high expectations for like Child of Light ended up disappointing.

@VGjunkie87 @lostn I only asked for 5. But you refused (or couldn't) to name even one, which just proves my point. It was a weak year for gaming compared to past years.

@sebtraction @lostn Alright. What are your top 5 contenders for Game of the Year? Re-releases and HD remakes don't count, so no Master Chief Collection. What else was there? Watch Dogs, AC Unity, Titanfall, and Destiny were probably the most anticipated and biggest titles of the year, and all turned out disappointing.

I can't name a single game releasing this year that I think in any other year would be contending for GOTY. There's Bayonetta 2, which I haven't played but I don't think would win it if it was last year or the year before it.

@gokartmozart89 Bioshock infinite has a story full of holes mascarade as "depth". This will contain spoilers: Such as the end, it is stated that killing booker before his baptism will kill Comstock in all time alternative realities. Why would it happen? Why not only in that reality Comstock would be dead? It's wrong, Comstock would only die in the realities that the baptism didnt happen, not cease his existence completly in ALL of them. About character geting nosebleeds when they remember they died on an alternative reality. In that case, everyone should get that in the game, since even you and me are dead right now in an alternative reality. And when you go get the guns, it was ridiculous that it was "Well, duh, just realized it that we can't trasport full machines to smith guns in the hands of 2 people. Well, let's go to a time space where the guns are back to where they are?". The vigors that no one in the whole city use except very few guys you shoot in the game that doesnt add anything to the story, why do they exist in the city? Just to have a sucessor to plasmids? Meanwhile plasmids everyone of those splicers in the original bioshock had them. And why join vox populi to get guns when you could go to an alternative reality where you don't make the deal with it or elizabeth doesnt discover booker lied to her? Even the end of the game has that unnecessary key part "Wow, it was always there, just never saw it". Can you explain it to me? What was that supposed to mean? The "Elizabeth's inovation". just puting an immortal char that doesn't do nothing besides open tears WHEN you say so and no one tries to kill or grab is innovative? Was that just because she tosses itens? And isn't she important? isn't a little immersion break to see someone that would obviously on the list to retrieve alive not getting attention at all? Hell, comstock's men doesnt even try to avoid shooting when you're near her. It's like "Ow, shit, he got elizabeth. Never mind, i don't want her back anyway. Besides, she's immortal". So, no innovative at all and even gives immersion break. And the pseudo depth? The fight against racism? Pretty shallow. So yeah, even the gameplay and the story of bioshock infinite aren't that great. Unless you can prove me wrong and explain the holes i said, wolfenstein will remain a far superior title to me, even on its story. Bioshock Infinite is overated, Wolfenstien is underrated. Hell, you compared wolfenstein to mindless shooter. BI gets even more mindless with only 2 weapons and 2 plasmids to choose, no visual weapon upgrades, no in depth story. Only thing it makes better than wolfenstein is the visual art and that's it.

@spartanx169x @rickphoenixxx @prats93 I look at the individual reviewers. I like some more than others. i.e., their tastes seem to be more in-line with my own.

@spartanx169x @rickphoenixxx @prats93 heard the multi was fun but the single player was bad...so how do you score a shooter nowadays anyways?
