I wouldn't know if I like the changes or not since I've only played FF:IV and I haven't gotten very far in it since it's so difficult for me T^T

(I do want to try some other FF game though...)

This was still interesting to watch though, despite me not knowing too much about FF ><

FFX was the first FF I played, but since then I've managed to play a significant amount of all the numbered games except the mmo's. I don't mind where the series has gone, 10, 12, & 13-2 I've all liked well enough to put 100+ hours into. I can see how some would like the older ones better, as they are really great games, but if the new ones aren't compared to those, I think they would be considered a lot greater then they are.

I loved the way Final Fantasy X was, it was my first Final Fantasy game and is my favorite, Final Fantasy XII I loved the story the gambit system wasn't bad. Final Fantasy XIII the only thing I didn't like is the level up system and some parts of the battle system the one thing I didn't like about is the chain counter to actually have the enemy be able to kill faster. I sorta think Final Fantasy should go back to the old battle system but my opinion could change when or even if Final Fantasy Versus XIII is released.

I think that the battle system in Final Fantasy XIII is good. However, its not perfect and might do wonders with a bit of re-thinking on the developer's part. The presentation however was top-notch. I think better, complex stories with emotionally intriguing characters and a whole new scale of epic is what Final Fantasy needs. I loved FF VI and VII, so it would be great to see such RPGs with the current generation techniques and conveniences.

Yes the old ways need to return. Like you said, you used to get lost in the narrative, now, with XIII, the story is embarrassing, I couldn't get through the game because it's so badly executed. And on top of that, the sense of explorartion, and the strategy of the turned based system has all dissapeared.

People argue that the series needs to evolve to survive. But they kept the turnbased system for years, and that was when FF was most well regarded and loved. They may survive, but the series is just going to become another douchey video game if they continue what they're doing.

Also, love these articles, keep it up. Need to get the message to Square that the real fans want at least some of the components returned to the original.
