Soooo ... what exactly am I meant to see here? At risk of rousing the rage of the Master Race, they all look pretty much the same. Which is pretty much what you'd expect from games being released right at the start of a console's life span. And as another comment rightly points out, running a graphics comparison test across platforms kind of requires a game that actually pushes graphics to the limits of what can currently be done (i.e. not Watch Dogs).
Also, to chip in my two cents to the below discussion about 4K gaming... sounds pointless. I doubt my eyes could even make out that much detail. I'd rather see developers focus on making games that are well-designed and intelligent than churning out more of the same triple-A blockbuster nonsense in ever higher resolutions.
Oh boy, here come the socially awkward PC players. Crawling out of their mother's basement to defend the only thing in life they love. You may have a killer rig, but you also have a face, "only a mother could love". What I'm saying is, you're friggin ugly.
They actually limit the PC with the graphics it a 1080 p. The PC is capable of much higher resolutions. I realize they do this in order to try and get a more even comparison, but the whole purpose of gaming on a PC is to play at these higher resolutions.
@EliOli they didn't make 1080p the max resolution on pc, it depends on what kinda screen you have... or how many you have, my screen is slightly above 1080p all my games I play go to my resolution, and I've seen people play in 4k... the resolution is theoretically infinite... depending on the screen/screens
@FuzzyPancakes LOL I've seen people play in 4k... well that's impossible unless they have a Titan graphics card and a 4k TV and even if they did a Titan graphics card can only play at 4k resolution at 30 FPS I laugh at you pc guys, "1080p is so last gen we play at 4k now", that's what I see most of you pc gamers saying when you know fine well 98% of you can't even handle 4k gaming yet nor do you have the tv to support it. Keep dreaming PC master race it's still 5 years of from 4k gaming even on pcs.
@Minasodrom @jayjay444 @tommynj Yeah i'm serious go play GTAV and look at the detail in that world then play Watchdogs and look at the difference, Watchdogs is a last gen game mate why you even surprised.
GTA V will look better on the PS4 because Rockstar will add realistic hair and facial emotion plus other details not seen on the PS3. Watchdogs looks superb in its own right though, what a fantastic game.
this game is soooo boring it makes me want to play GTA V on a PC, well thanx to Rockstar this is still not possible, well back to Watch Dogs than, BTW it is so annoying when people exit your game when you hacked their files at 99%.
It's a funny thing. I just bought a PS4 and 4 games for it. And the reason is silly (I still have about 5 ps3/PC games I haven't even played).
I was playing GTA5 for the 4th time through and I'd done all the crap to set myself to make the 2 .2 billion dollars at the end. But the stupid bazdaq stock market thing wouldn't load and I couldn't invest for a Lester assassination mission.
So I was like eff this sh** I'm gonna go buy a PS4 and got Watch Dogs, Wolfy, MLB, and Killzone. I'm a compulsive fool.
moving way too fast, lol. but the pc and ps4 versions look the best. the pc is better imo but i kinda like the high contrast of the ps4 images. can anyone even get this to run on the pc? i hear they have been having allot of problems.Edit (in 5 minutes)
@donmega1 i can run it well on mine, but occasionally when i wake up after sleeping at a safehouse the graphics will start flickering white. It usually goes away after I leave the area and stuff though
@donmega1 The pirated version runs better than the U-play version, but there really isn't many differences between the low/high/ultra settings in my opinion.
Nice video. Small differences. I actually thought the x1 was going to be darker in the night/indoor scenes bc Xbox loves using deep contrast. Seems like the PS4 did it instead.
All the versions look great for the next gen and pc. Played it on the PC i loved the little things like leaves & stuff like that. The PS4/x1 did a great job on particles.
The PS3 version doesn't stack up to PS3 GTAV in my first look.
PC frame rate issues will be fixed soon, PS4/X1 ran smooth. PS3 had major drop in frames.
ei dumbass games sites, can you compare the"inteligent"gameplay and cultural, yes we learn history in watch dogs...with other dumb open world..like gta...thanks...
I just don't get all this hate directed at Watch Dogs. I'm playing it on PS4 and it's superb. It has met all my graphics expectations and is a true next gen game with awesome graphics. There is nothing on PS3 that even close close to matching this game in terms of graphics. As for the actual game it's top quality gameplay, great fun and really ingenious gameplay. It's easily a 9/10 but not quite a 10/10. The city is alive with stuff going on everywhere and is beautifully rendered with glorious colourful lighting.
I cannot understand anyone who criticises the graphics the PS4 version is pumping out. It may not match the PC version on ultra but it's extremely high quality and very polished. The game runs smooth as silk on PS4. I cannot pass comment on the XB1 version because I have not played it. Youtube videos are not a good judge.
If you're a open world fan, it does not get much better than this.
I'm a PC guy. Been in this game since CoCo's, C64's, Tandy EX's and 2400's. I like my consoles, but PC is my platform of choice.
Having said that, I don't build my rigs to play a game like this. If I did, I'd only buy consoles. If you're building a PC to play GTA, Assassins Creed, Thief and now Watch Dogs; well, it's certainly your right to do so, but you're doing it wrong. The PC is unique, because that's where you get some of the most complex, deep and involving 'gaming' experiences. DCS A-10, Flight Sim X, Prepard3D, Steel Beasts and other simulations in general including the upcoming Star Citizen. Then war gaming like the Total War series, The Operational Art of War and many more. (oldie but goodie) These are just some of MY favorites and these sims and games would be hard to do on a console and that audience doesn't want that type of 'investment' in their gaming anyway.
PC gaming is just different from consoles when you disregard the ports. I'm a PC Gamer. I prefer PC Games. I think that's a distinction that people miss. When you talk about it that way, it's hard to compare console to PC, they're just completely different 'animals.'
BTW, I own a 360, XB1, PS3/4, Wii & U.
Also, the differences in the video are negligible. Watch Dogs looks fine across the board.
Just another open world GTA style game, with it's own unique gimmics. *yawn* The online play will devolve into the usual nonsense, and only the more gifted players will ever exploit the gimmics. Graphics? Who cares?
I'm one of the lucky few who happens to earn enough to buy both the consoles and a high end PC for gaming. Before people start flaming me on this for being a snod or spoiled or even a lonesome nerd who has no life, I earned and paid everything myself. I work for it and my social life is great and includes my amazing girlfriend.
But aside from that, the PC will always be superior in terms of hardware, depending on what kind of PC you're getting obviously. But does this make it the 'better gaming' platform? No. I play lots of games on my PC, for example RPGs such as The Witcher and Dragon Age or PC exclusive titles. I love my gaming PC, it's great. But I do prefer my consoles, and especially my PS4, over my PC. Why? Well, because it's so easy to use. I can bring it to my friends for a LAN party, I can just put a new game in the drive without installing (mostly) or downloading it (aside from updates, which are on every platform), you never have to update the hardware or download lots of patches, updates and service packs for the OS or all other programs you use.
Once you have a console you don't have to look back or spend more money on it in order to play future games. The console will last it's generation cycle and then you move on to the next generation. It's easy and it doesn't require any knowledge as you need to have to maintain a PC. Don't get me wrong, I love to work on my PC, but it takes a lot of time and money. Which brings me to another point, many people can't afford that and don't want to invest lots of money on a well working PC. Almost all my friends play exclusively on consoles because they don't want to spend money a upgrading their PC. So, they pay a 'one time fee' for the console they prefer and get to play with most of their friends online without having to worry that they can't play that single game everyone is talking about but your console can't handle.
So, it's a curse that most PC games are held back by development for console games, such as Watch Dogs, as it doesn't unleash the full potential of a high end PC. That's to blame on the developers. I miss the good old days where PC games were made for PC and nothing else.
I know my comment will just vanish from this board and I am sure it will not make people realize that the PC is better than a console or the other way around, but I just wanted to show my point of few. I love PC gaming and I love console gaming. There's a big difference between the two also, different communities. I love the fact that I can mod Skyrim on my PC and I love the fact that all my friends are on a PS4, both have their pro's and both have their cons. But none is better than the other, that will always be a matter of opinion, interest and gaming style.
@Hondje89 Well put...There is an advantage to consoles in that it's pretty much plug and play...
But the diversity on PC games still appeals to me.
And if I didn't have a love for Fight Night,NHL 15 and a couple of other titles,I probably would not buy the "next gen" because my 3 year old PC is still better in terms of internal architecture.
So now waiting for the Aformentioned titles to appear and BAM!...I'm gonna be a sucker yet again.
Dude, nobody cares how much you make. A lot of us gamers who grew up in the 80s and 90s have great jobs. I'm a multimillionaire by my early 30s and can just quit working tomorrow and could survive. I don't have a high end gaming PC because I'm not into hardware and specs. I only play Starcraft 2 and Simcity on my PC and everything else on PS3/4 and Wii U. The slight graphics differences doesn't really matter to me. Consoles are just easier to deal with.
@cantor2537 he mr "multimillionaire" singer, he just mean to say he has the consoles, it is not a show off discussion about money or anything like that. and I agree consoles are easier to handle, and that's I love 'em.
Brings back the good old days with the nerds comparing Oblivion screenshots between the 360 and PS3.. The results? The same as here.. the games look pretty much the same.. so much so that you have to have them side-by-side to tell the difference.
The 360 had the graphical edge over the PS3, the PS4 has the graphical edge over the xbox One.. but as that never affected the enjoyment of playing PS3 games, it will also not affect the enjoyment of playing Xbox One games...
But nerds will be nerds, and if they have their magnifying glasses handy anyway.. let them enjoy comparing pixels.
@Darion350 @gamespotpanayis Finally, someone who understands the value of quality gameplay over petty things like which console has the sharpest graphics. Nobody really cared what the graphics were for contra and super mario. They were really amazing games simply for the gameplay. Games and gamers these days are really missing the true essence of a winning game - content > looks.
@gamespotpanayis The PS3 had the graphical edge over the 360, it was just that devs never used it because they were too lazy to learn the architecture. It's not like roles have reversed this time like you imply, it's that people have actually bothered using the PS4 to its potential.
