Witcher 3 finally deserves its GOTY

If you like guns, you probably don't like sword or vice versa. Not all but mostly. Spend over 10hrs+ into MGSV but i am not in love with it but i am trying hard. I am hardcore RPG guy since Baldur's Gate era. I can't give MGSV a 10/10 or GoTY. The Witcher 3 is my GoTY only for now.

Lol, i just saw how they totally dumped on Rise of the Tomb Raider. See this is what I dont like about Gamespot. Special shout outs for many amaazing games, like Bloodborne, like Until Dawn, Dying Light, MGS V, Witcher. I get that Rise of the Tomb Raider is going to be on the same day as Fallout 4, but why dump on the game? From the gameplay we've seen it looks incredible, graphics and gameplay wise, and it's never been stronger as a series. This is either their usual bashing of anything Xbox One related or they simply just didnt choose their words right. I love both Fallout and Rise of the Tomb Raider already, I just dont see why theyd bash Rise of the Tomb Raider which is amazing to begin with

i think Fallout 4 will be Game of the Year. Gameplay wise, story wise, and of course potential for modding and expanding gameplay is much higher than it is for MGS V. Other amazing games this year

So many "game of the year" games came out this year. Should their only be one?

Just like last gen, an onslaught of great titles by the end of year 2 of the new consoles.

Though last gen it happened more with FP games: Bioshock, Orange box, Cod 4, Halo something...

Let this serve as a warning to any game writers considering putting out "where are all the good games" videos in March of year 2.

It takes a while to get going on new systems.

Also, sad Arkham Knight gets no love. It made some missteps, but it's got a ton of really great content and improves the more you play it. Not gonna be game of the year, but I think it oughta be a part of the conversation at least.

Like Asylum and City before it, there's a depth to the systems at play that remains hidden to most folks that pick it up. If you dig deep into the challenges and maybe read a combat faq, the game goes from high production value button masher to something way more awesome.

The biggest design mistake Rocksteady ever made was failing to properly encourage players to find this depth.

Also, GTA V remastered rules.

Witcher 3 lost my interest in a few hours. Fallout 4 all the way.

W3 is GOTY for me, MGS5 wins best clone of Splinter Cell Blacklist, and Fallout 4 gets my "Let's make anothe Fallout 3 loking washed out game with selective auto-aim. lol Honestly, W3 and then Mario Maker were my 2 favs.

Maybe but it all depends on what fallout 4 turns out to be. If fallout 4 lives up the hype it might win, but other than that probably between witcher 3 and this metal gear game

These awards just come down to popularity contests in the end. How do you objectively compare games from different genres anyways. People like different things someone might prefer bloodborne to witcher 3 but witcher 3 wins because its more mainstream popular.

Of the three, I think Fallout 4 has the greatest potential to be Goty. If Bethesda of all devs is saying they put nearly twice the amount of work into Fallout 4 than Skyrim, then it ought to be something special.

Witcher 3 was an amazing rpg, but its open world was very lacking and repetitive in terms of quests, exploration and environments. This will let it down, and its something Bethesda is perfect at doing.

I honestly don't know about MGS:V, but from what it looks like, the story is incredible and the gameplay is fun. It's probably a better contender than Witcher 3 though.

2. Kill some generic monster you've been fighting for the past 10+ hours or bandits

3. Speak to someone for reward

4. End Quest

5. Rinse and repeat for 70+ hours

The game was complete, overrated garbage that got by on its characters and pre set lore. Generic combat, generic magic and a gimmick to spice things up (Bombs). Skyrim, Dragon Dogma etc all SHIT on Witcher 3 from a gameplay perspective, Witcher 3 wasn't even the best RPG this year (Bloodborne was), never mind best game. MGSV is a throwback to the old games where detail, creativity and gameplay were the priotiy.

2015 has been an incredible year for games. Fallout 4, Witcher 3, MGSV, ......Mad Max aint too bad either, im sure im forgetting some.

I absolutely can't stand the Kinda Funny losers, especially the Greg kid who constantly hates on Witcher 3, but fanboys MGS5 that no one gives a flying $hit about, especially the new generation of kids. He acts as if MGS5 will blow everyone away when the truth of the matter is that MGS5 will sell close to NO copies like previous installments. Why does this Greg dick act like he's the authority on what's legit and what isn't. I want to choke the arsehole. Fallout 4 looks like F3 and these knobs are salivating over it, that's fanboys 4 u. Listen to these asshats predict that Fallout 4 will win it when it hasn't even came out and the graphics look terrible. Basically, to become GOTY, make a rehashed Fallout game and drop it on store shelves because "Bethesda made it". It will be GOTY because d-b's who ordered the limited edition will get their very own Pip Boy! CDPR put so much effort into their product, that I feel they will become less motivated for future games,, because what's the point in pouring your heart into a game when a company like Bethesda will just come along, make the same game, call it Fallout 4, and watch the sales and "GOTY" $hit come their way. CDPR might just say fawk this, why should CP2077 be anything different or innovative when you get no recognition for it in the end. This is a problem imo. A company that puts so much care into customer feedback will stop dropping patches like with W3 to appease their fans, because is there really a point? They will sell their share of copies anyway and going that extra mile for people gets you nothing! Good luck with patches in CP2077. CDPR should at least get a Dev of the Year Award of some sort that will legitimize their hard efforts, otherwise why should companies like them even give a damn in the future?

As a sidenote, I just started playing MGSV.....the hype is real. (And I typically do NOT like Metal Gear games).

Fallout 4 looks like a high res Fallot 3 with features cobbled together from New Vegas. It will be an enjoyable experience but I'm fairly certain the same glitches and frame rate issues will plague the otherwise, fine gameplay. In the end it will drag down its review scores across the board. Metal Gear is once again poised for critical acclaim no doubt as we've seen already and that gameplay is what other open world games should aspire to. Mother base is icing on the cake in addition to massive sprawling environments, flawless graphical fidelity and ahem, solid gameplay. MGSV GOTY.

Don't know really, fallout, MGS and the witcher 3 can't pick up really, two are in the same category, the witcher and fallout, now the witcher delivered some of the best storytelling I have seen in years, the world felt part of the game because it's like reading a book so full of details and I felt like I was reading a book just trough images, sure the combat wasn't the best of the world but the story it's something that I had not saw in a while, MGS it's another Metal gear, it's expectacular no doubt But I have seen games like that before like metal gear 3 my still favorite, and fallout man I still play fallout sometimes just because the game itself it's so catchy for me and F4 seems pretty good, All I can say it's that this year there isn't a "GOTY" most people will be divided by those 3 colossus and who will win? Us the gamers nothing more, enjoying these 3 pieces of masterwork in a same year just seems surreal.

As much as I like the game, no it wont be GOTY, at least for me. To many bad game design decisions. The day/night cycle is way to freaking short. As a game that tries to be realistic in how they handle many things, this is just annoying. You can't unlock weapons by actually looting them and bringing them back to mother base, you have to unlock them via mother base. Suppressors are destroyed way to freaking fast. The checkpoint systems sucks balls. And even if Jack Bauer does a good job, he is not Big Boss. 3 games with David Hayter as Big Boss makes him Big Boss for me. To me it is just seeing Snake being dubbed by Jack Bauer.

That being said, it is still a great game, and I have yet to get very far. It runs exceptionally well on PC and when it is fun, it is very fun. But it is too frustrating for me to give it GOTY. My money is on Witcher 3 or Fallout 4.
