3DS sells 795,000 in November, tops DS's first year total

What vita needs for sales records is this: An exclusive/play anywhere CoD... idon't know mw18 or black ops11 or something. But if you could make a CoD experience, AND make it portable and somehow ties in with the yearly consoles CoD versions, they would selling 10 million first month. - If theres one thing, CoD = sales.. no matter what he game is actually like. So if you add that with (system of choice) you = WINNER. I know everyone hates CoD on here, but you can't argue the sales. - Other than this? nintendo owns the portable market. PS vita will be awesome, but these crazy sales for ninty come from everywhere: Kids, gamers of all ages, but most importantly: Every, single, soccer mom/stay at home mom i have ever seen has at LEAST one DS.. Sony can't compete with that, and doesnt need to. The "core" :) gamers will flock to Vita for shooters, cause for 8+ years, we've all been waiting for dual analog with our mobile gaming.

@Soothsayer42 The only "real" good game on your list would have to be Little big planet. IMO modnation racers sucked and was just a bad rip off of mario kart. I'm surprised you didn't mention uncharted, which is probably the best exclusive they have.

@X_Colbert_X wrong you only have to buy digital version of games that you own on umd since there is no und drive on the vita and you get a discount all digital psp mins and psone (once it supports it which it will) games that you own will cost nothing to transfer them onto the vita

@X_Colbert_X thats what Im trying to say, u need to purchase those games at 40% discount but at least theres an option to play it on Vita. sorry mate, but Im not trying to picture R.E and Monster Hunter here.. think about the other titles..

@soothsayer42 As moviequest14 stated, to play any PSP games you may own on the VIta, you must pay to download them to the system (which requires one of the expensive memory cards he also mentioned). In Japan, the 3DS is getting Monster Hunter Tri G, which is an updated version of Monster Hunter Tri. Monster Hunter 4 is also confirmed to be 3DS-exclusive, so the 3DS doesn't need the Portable series--it already has the console series. And honestly, 2K Marin and IW/Sledgehammer are not going to put games like Bioshock or Call of Duty on the 3DS because those are games aimed at a different demographic than what Nintendo typically garners. And before you say "But what about Resident Evil," I'll say that Capcom has a long history with Nintendo when it comes to RE games on their consoles, dating back to REmake and Zero on the Gamecube.

@shadowhunter0 : Part 2 : On top of that anyone that doesn't already own a ps3 will not own a vita either..because given the choice people would rather buy (for about the same price if not less) the more powerful system with more games and the games that the vita is trying so hard to replicate.So assuming that every single person that has purchased a ps3 purchased a vita (which again is highly unlikely) that would put the vita at roughly 50million units while if the 3ds continues to pass ds sales (so far) it will end up reaching the ds's 149 million (nearly triple the sales of ps3) meaning a massive lead for the 3ds.

@moviequest14 u can play PSP games and some PS3 bits game on Vita.. and what Im trying to say in my comment is actually those titles have been similar to console gamers, so those games will sure pick alot of core audience. Btw, Monster Hunter portable is PSP exclusive that never came to 3DS. and COD and Bioshock sure wont release on it too.. cause they are not even first party developers, then why they didnt release it on 3ds? U see my point there?

Last generation we see the psp with considerably more well-known major titles,better online capability,plenty of forms of media,significantly more graphically powerful,etc. against the less-powerful ds with (at the time) the only online feature being multiplayer (and even that was rare),not rather underpowered,and not that many first party titles..psp had true-to-system ports even porting ps1 and ps2 titles with little taken away while ds was doing good to port the n64 titles..psp had netflix,online stores,cameras,a browser,facebook,etc while it took several years for the ds(i) to even get a browser and store...yet the ds crushed the psp (in comparison of sales).Fast forward to today..the 3ds isn't as underpowered to the vita (s ds was to psp,has more online capabilities (than ds/dsi) is at a fairly good deal,has a stronger first and 3rd party lineup (than ds) and half a years head start (including the mass-selling holidays),and the 3ds is already beating even the ds's records..the psvita (so far) doesn't have as many major titles as psp did,is the more expensive system on the market,and already is starting to build up negative publicity (like the high-priced necessary memory cards,the fact you have to pay to port games,etc.).

@ACMC85 : It is only $10 more than dsixl and some of the games have actually become cheaper than ds games..not too mention is is significantly more powerful..and that Nintendo is already selling for a loss on each unit.

@Soothsayer42 : Dynasty Warriors is already on 3ds,as will be not one but 2 monster hunter titles and CoD has become an expectation for almost every system now..it is only a matter of time before it is also released on 3ds.Psp also had quite a few big/first party titles (Assassin's Creed,Little Big Planet,3 GTAs,God of War,Call of Duty,Driver,Dynasty Warriors,Killzone,Kingdom Hearts,Medal of Honor,More metal gear solid titles than you can shake a psp at,5 monster hunters,Mortal Kombat,Ratchet & Clank (including offshoot secret agent clank),Resistance,Soul Calibur,3 tekken titles,2 tomb raider titles,Twisted Metal,and wipeout to only name a few) the amount of well-known/first party psp games makes the vita list look pitiful..yet the psp didn't ''win'' the last battle.Sony's first party titles are good and successful but neither as much as Nintendo's..and the 3ds could be successful with only 3 major 3rd party titles if they announced all the 1st party titles they are releasing ...vita will have 3 or 4 1st party titles that can openly be considered massively successful while Nintendo has/will have at least 8+ first party titles highly known for being extremely (and even system selling) successful.Out of the wii's top selling games only 1 or 2 are 3rd party..people come to the 3ds (and any Nintendo system for that matter) for 1st party titles..3rd party titles are just the icing on the cake.

The only game I really want is Resident Evil: Revelations.

Oh and there's no way Vita will outsell the 3DS let's face it it's going to be similar like the DS vs PSP. PSP having better graphics and more power but it just didn't win.

Seems that the haters didn't quite get it right when they said the 3DS would spell Nintendo's doom, eh? Nintendo is, and always will be, the king of handhelds. The PSP wasn't bad, I've gotten some great moments from it (MGS: Peace Walker, Birth by Sleep, Tactics Ogre) but the DS is just a beast, and considering that the DS actually had an incredibly slow start, especially in terms of library, the fact that 3DS is already ahead of the DS bodes well for the future.

@Stucazzo it is not out yet but I have played on the vita I have played uncharted resistance and other awesome games has well and most of not all are better then any game on the 3ds right now

It's nice to see the 3ds was a success. Let's wish for the same with the Vita and the Wii U.

@Soothsayer42 I'm sorry but Sony's exclusives hold little to no bearing as a whole. Unless they start churning out these same numbers, they will always be small fry to Nintendo's biggest stars. I'm very excited for the Vita (coming this month HERE in Japan) but not for Sony's first party offerings. Not even Call of Duty or Bioshock excite me. Those games flop here in Japan. What I'm excited for is all the Japan-only games the Vita will have because we as a country, as a whole, are massively addicted to personal handhelds.

You're dumb as molasses if you really think Vita will outsell 3DS.My PSP is used as a paperweight, the last good game being Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker.

Nintendo will always be king of the handheld department. Ever since the gameboy. Though i will admit that i still continue to play my PSP way more than my ds which i sold :S

See you stupid analysts? Mario will never be on iOS,Nintendo will never be a game publisher only,and a few months of rotten sales will never kill the Big N. What this means is I will never believe one single thing an analyst says.I'd be suspicious if one told me his name,because he'd probably be wrong about that too. Nintendo knows,if you build it,they will come.

And analysts wanted Nintendo to make Mario for the iOS to save the company from ''inevitable doom'' and that the 3DS would be like a Virtual boy 2 and so on and so forth.... tsk, tsk. You analysts know nothing.

Glad to hear the 3DS is selling brilliantly and that the Wii is also having very strong sales figures. And these are just the sales for US, think about the sales for the rest of the world. And some awesome games have come out and are coming out for the 3DS, I didn't doubt Nintendo for one second when they decided to release the 3DS cause I knew they were experienced. I'm quite sure the same will happen for the Wii U. It will be doubted at first by people but then it will be the favourite. Also, the Vita will probably do well but I don't think it will do as well as the 3DS.

That's what happens when you drop the price. I paid 199.99 for the zelda 3ds bundle.

Nintendo can totally make handhelds a success from the beginning. Oh, and totally make apparently initial unsucessful handhelds to turn their way around. First kinda seen on DS, and more so on 3DS.

What a difference a couple of big titles has made to 3DS sales :) Pleased for it and for Nintendo. As for me? Bring on the Vita!

Vita is going to have LittleBigPlanet, Resistance, Killzone, Modnation Racer, Call of Duty(working title), Bioshock(working title), Uncharted, Dynasty Warriors, Monster Hunter.. Big titles are like this gonna help Vita sells! 3DS was a good handheld for me, but it lacks in good games

@jasplun i completely agree with you, i remember when the system first came out everyone was hating on it for a. being so pricey and b. being a complete gimmick now look, everyone is out trying to get one, which is nice for the people who already have them because i have my 3Ds on my all the time and i like the street pass feature. plus the 3DS Goomba stomps on the EVOs version of glasses free 3D :{)

I'm happy to see 3DS doing well. Now bring on KH3D and I'll be happy to add to the user base next year.

Extremely happy to see this. Looks like Sony better come with it. If they're smart, they'll refute the GameStop leaked prices and announce the "real" prices of the memory cards. As for the 3DS itself, it's definitely making a comeback. Way to represent for real games on a REAL handheld console. Not some watered-down overpriced minigame bull stuff on a phone. I meant GameStop, not GameSpot. But people already knew that.

I love seeing Nintendo do well. The analysts of the gaming industry have been spelling doom for Nintendo since the N64 days, and it makes me smile when they come out and do well. The Wii will finish this generation as #1. The DS is the best selling system of all time now. The 3DS is finding its stride at retail. Nintendo will always be, and I love it.

I am sitting back laughing because I can already see Vita set up to fail hard-core from the huge prices.No way Vita will compete with this system at its current price and game library that is already looking better and better.I am not a Nintendo Fan,but the price cut is what was needed.

So happy to own one, with the latest system updates i am even more happy... Look in the data management in your 3ds and select 3ds and you will see "Add-On content" that shows 3DS will be getting DLC!!!! :D
