$750 Evolve Goliath Statue Weighs 35 Pounds

2K announces one of the most epic, expensive, and limited-edition collector's items we can remember.

2K Games and Turtle Rock Studios today announced an epic and expensive collector's item (game not included) for the upcoming game, Evolve. The Evolve: Goliath Premiere Scale Statue is 29 inches tall and weighs 35 pounds. It is very much a limited edition, as only 500 will be made.

The Savage Goliath variation
The Savage Goliath variation

The monster statue has LED effects built into it and will cost a whopping $750. But that's not all. A special version of the statute, the Savage Goliath (at left), will also be available for $800. Only 150 of these will be made, and they will only be sold at New York Comic-Con next week.

This monster has been designed by its creators at TriForce to model the Savage Goliath skin pack that is free for everyone who preorders the game. If you're attending New York Comic-Con, you can see the Savage Goliath Evolve monster statue at Trifoce booth on the show floor.

Evolve is currently in development by the creators of Left 4 Dead at Turtle Rock for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. The game, which pits four players against one human-controller monster, was originally expected to launch this fall, but in August was delayed to 2015.

<< LINK REMOVED >> It's made of a sculpting material called "polystone": << LINK REMOVED >>

I did some reading and found that polystone is a trademark name for 100% acrylic Solid Surface (<< LINK REMOVED >>), a common porcelain-like sculpting and casting material. It is often used in countertops because it can be easily cast into all manner of custom shapes. It is used in sculpting because it can preserve minute details in a solid and stain-resistant surface.

Couple this info with the wiki for Solid Surface, and I understand polystone to be a combination of marble dust and some kind of resin binding. The porcelain feel makes sense because it is made of marble dust. The dust is mixed with the resin, and it is sculpted to shape as the resin drys out.

So you get a 29" tall sculpture with a large base made of solidified marble dust. That's heavy.

For $750, you might as well built a PC. Hack my Credit Card will take a huge be-ating for that thing.

Seems risky for a new IP to release something so expensive. That being said, these will probably go up in price ,at least double, in a few years.

<< LINK REMOVED >> Look at Sideshow (they make statues). Plenty of people buy them, usually have a price of around 350-500, though they make more expensive ones that can be 800 up all the way to 2000 (for life size or really big ones).

I have a couple myself but mainly only of characters that I know and like (IE The X-men, Superman, Batman and Conan).

Usually the value of such items goes up, not down, IF (and that is a big IF) the edition size is actually limited and they don't make too many of them for what the product is for (IE if it's a new character or not something well known, it has to be a much smaller edition size since it probably won't sell that much).

I'm certainly not going to throw this much money at this statue (sine it's not relaly some iconic character o well known), but I'm sure with a small ES people will probably buy it.

@RobDev I think you are mistaking this with 99.99% of everything else you own. These are handmade super limited editions. It would be ridiculous to factory manufacturer something of such small volume.

Your attempt at being clever just made you sound like a complete i.dio.t.

<< LINK REMOVED >> at least i'm not generalising about someone i know nothing about pr1ck. theres about $10 of materials in this, the rest is the id10t premium.wasn't trying to sound clever. was commenting on how easily f00ls are parted from their money. This hunk of shite will be worth $10 in a couple of years.

While they will probably decrease in "value" over time, their is simply no way in hell they'd ever get down to $10.

<< LINK REMOVED >><< LINK REMOVED >><< LINK REMOVED >> how much do you think 35 pounds of plastic and led lights cost? particularly over 650 of them. thats 22750 pounds of plastic. or maybe 20,000 pounds including some LED lights. Which are not exactly super expensive wither. This is a complete rip off.

<< LINK REMOVED >> hmmm. Polystone is (mostly) made of Polytheruene resin which is a thermo plastic. either way how much does it cost a pound? i'll tell you. about 20 CENTS. throw in some led lights. yeah, theres probably $10 to $20 of material in this. The rest is licensing fees and id1ot tax. Thats the tax they charge id1ots for thinking this statue of a monster form a game thats not out yet is worth the combined cost of a PS4 and an XBOX one.

I'd rather have the Lego Statue Of Liberty sculpture I just picked up at a garage sale, fully assembled....2400 pieces, released in 2000....Look up completed sales on EBAY...worth more than what that statue costs...Oh yeah, I paid 50 bucks, LOL...

*closes wallet* Do not take my money.

It's a nice statue but I don't really have any connection to the game since it's the first entry in a brand new IP. They should have saved this for Evolve 2.
