2K Games and Turtle Rock Studios today announced an epic and expensive collector's item (game not included) for the upcoming game, Evolve. The Evolve: Goliath Premiere Scale Statue is 29 inches tall and weighs 35 pounds. It is very much a limited edition, as only 500 will be made.

The monster statue has LED effects built into it and will cost a whopping $750. But that's not all. A special version of the statute, the Savage Goliath (at left), will also be available for $800. Only 150 of these will be made, and they will only be sold at New York Comic-Con next week.

This monster has been designed by its creators at TriForce to model the Savage Goliath skin pack that is free for everyone who preorders the game. If you're attending New York Comic-Con, you can see the Savage Goliath Evolve monster statue at Trifoce booth on the show floor.

Evolve is currently in development by the creators of Left 4 Dead at Turtle Rock for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. The game, which pits four players against one human-controller monster, was originally expected to launch this fall, but in August was delayed to 2015.

29 inches and 35 pounds, thats amazing!...Not that I know how much that is or anything, but its great that they use those measurments, its not like theres people here that use the metric units or something right?

<< LINK REMOVED >> What is wrong with you people? Metric is far superior, using an out dated *** backward unit system is nothing to brag about.

<< LINK REMOVED >> considerings its an american based company making an american based game being sold in america, why wouldnt they use our system of measurement? THen if they used the metric system, you'd get all the americans (most of their audience) complaining...so they cant win either way...but its safer to go with your native system since *see reason above*.

I get some people out there have this kind of money to toss around. My question is how do dumb people get so much money? Anyone that looks at this as a collector's item or something that will appreciate in value is out of their minds. At best it will be worth the price tag in 30-50 years. And even then, it will be a fan limited market. Pro Tip: Anything marketed as collectible or limited edition is usually just a way to mark up the price.

<< LINK REMOVED >> I agree that anyone who buys this as an investment is probably making a bad decision, but I think the vast majority of people that will buy this are not expecting to make money.

I've purchased many collectable or history related items, usually nothing to do with gaming, and it's just for fun, I enjoy having them. Now when we're talking about specifically gaming, comics, movies, or "nerd" stuff :), there are probably very few people who are looking at those collectables as an investment.

<< LINK REMOVED >><< LINK REMOVED >> IDK. Depends on what you are buying. Say you are buying a rare classic comic. That is proven to be collectible. However, having a subscription to a new comic is not proven and if baseball cards were any indication of how the collectible market works then new subs wont be due to over printing.

I get the whole fun side of it but for this price and something new, not a relic, you could have something custom made with what I am sure will be a much higher quality. Heck I could go right now and have a sculpture done for about 2-500 and then have it cast in a metal for 2-300. Not some plastic piece of junk with LED lights in it. I'd even feel better about that purchase since the metal would hold an actual value.

<< LINK REMOVED >> what do u mean worth the price tag? Its a cheap, video game doll, and its not even a proven game yet, its not like this is WoW or some revolutionary game. In 30-50 years at best it will be worth its weight in plastic - $2 bucks if youre lucky.

Why do you people think that we all share the same wallet constrains. Fact is we don't. It might seem like a lot of money to you but to some it's not. It's all relative. There are people on this planet who would think that spending +400$ on a device just to move pixels on a screen is an insanity.

<< LINK REMOVED >><< LINK REMOVED >> I don't. I even say so in my very first sentence. You are just looking to start an argument though. As for the $400 system, most people in the US can look at it as an entertainment investment for those who enjoy games. For instance, 400 initial investment + (60 per 10-20 hours of entertainment) comes out much cheaper than other forms of entertainment over the 5-10 year life cycle.

But for the record it doesn't seem like a lot of money to me, because it isn't, what it seems like to me is a waste of money as I so elegantly put it in my OP.

Not insane but a good chunk of your income. I guess it depends on what you're into.

Let's turn that and ask what right do you feel you are entitled to mock me for how I express my opinion? The answer is the same but my point is made.

I would buy it but I don't like the color red. Nothing to do with the price. I'm super rich in real life. I'm also married to incestuous twins and I wrote the Song of Ice and Fire
