Crystal Dynamics rebooting Soul Reaver - Report

I'm so looking forward to a new Soul Reaver game! I hope they use Raziel in this game!

Splendid idea. That story was a STORY!!! Remaking the series with modern graphics, placing more RPG elements (and choices), that would be radiant!

Here's an idea, can we get an HD collection of the entire series? While a reboot has potential an HD collection of all the previous content and new entries into the series would be better. Stop mining the past and just make a new game in the franchise. Bioware or Naughty Dog should buy this franchise or be asked to work on it. Or maybe they could work on it together, bioware with the story and models, Naughty Dog with the animation and graphic engine.

YES!!!!! defiance and blood omen 2 are my favorite... but the series has always been good in m opinion

This had been on my list of needed reboots for so damn long :D and now it is happening.

Legacy of Kain reboot, very excited. Being an arcade title instead of a full remake (complete game for $60) makes me worry.

Well with Cory Barlog on the team and with the resources they have this has the potential to be something amazing. And the memories I have from playing Soul River 2 only work to reinforce my good feelings towards this project.

Given how good the Legacy and Reaver games were, it'd take an aweful good throw to top them. But if they want to try, then by all means,PLEASE do. MOAR KAIN!

@Darnasian: I hope you are right and I'm wrong, because I 've always had high regard for Eidos and the Legacy of Kain series. But the combination of reboot and Square Enix is catastrophic. I'm surprised nobody else sees that.

Simon Templeman (Kain) and Michael Bell (Raziel) better make a comeback! I'm a bit worried about the remake part and the fact that the story is being retold/reimagined. Still, even if they screw this up hard I will be getting it. Please.....please don't screw this up :(

It's going to be tough to get this to work. The main writers and developers of the franchise are gone and Tony Jay passed away. How are they going to reboot the franchise, and make it good, without them?

It's still unclear to me if this would be a total remake of the original or a new game? I'd be so excited. In my eyes this series was the future of gaming. Actually a plot (!) and an intricate one for change, with fantastic story and mature dialog. Nothing for 12 year olds only, but really mature enough to engage adults who have seen a game or two.

That entire series was so damn amazing. Here's hoping they not only revive the series, but re-release the others on HD bundles, like they did with God Of War and Jak and Daxter.

Because the younger and more naive Raziel is a lot more identifiable than the ancient and very bitter Kain. :|

These games had hands down the best writing and voice acting in gaming. Hope it's handled well because it was an incredibly mature and adult series.

Franchise has a lot of love, but have you people played those games lately? They have aged very poorly. Hopefully this reboot will combine the complex story telling the games were known for with better action.

Full reworking? Fresh art style? Hmmmm...... I loved SR's gothic theme, hopefully they won't mess with my Soul Reaver too much.

Hell Yeah!!!! im ben waiting for this for so long! i beat every single LOK and LOKSR this is a game i do a research every year to see if there is some good news ....but like most of the time they will come wen you less espect them! please! crystal dynamics do it right! i hope they focuse in the old the games and just make improvements but still living the game the darker and gothic way the we love to see it and we miss to play for so long! this is an Awesome news!!

But I wanted a sequel to Defiance instead... well I'll buy this anyway... but they better bring in a good voice actor to replace the late Tony Jay...

Better liked original LOK it was more like action rpg style where you travel big map towns, castles and dungeons, where Soul reaver was more like tomb raider game

Horaaayyy! I loved the Legacy of Kain series on PS1 and PS2. I really do hope that the PC versions make their way to GOG soon. Hell, GOG now has Square-Enix's Eidos line-up trickling in every few weeks. They gave us Deus Ex, so why not Soul Reaver?
