DayZ creator angry about The War Z

But both Day Z AND War Z are ripping off the success of The Walking Dead TV show. Hardly Anyone would be playing either his mod or the war z game if The Walking Dead wasn't such a big hit, and to call out someone for stealing the same idea you stole yourself is weak at best. People in glass houses an' all that! Well thats my opinion on it anyway, seeing as how zombie games have been around for ages, and surviving a zombie apocalypse is hardly a new concept in entertainment is it.

l hope the developer of war z game gets the help and support he needs from family/friends

I know he is just trying to be respectable but these "developers" Clearly just ripped off all this guys work and called it their own. They "claim" that they had been working on warz way before dayz came out. Both similar games, both with similar names. Hell even the theme song of warz is a rip off of American Horror Story.

Right, Im a console gamer but I like new things and my main PC can comfortably play dayz and im tempted to pay the £25, is it enjoyable, is it user friendly with mouse and keyboard etc?

In an earlier comment, some one brought up some of The WAR Z creators earlier work, Big Rigs. Which reminded me I had come across a review for this game when looking for Reviews at the bottom of the barrel... (for a laugh)

To Mr. Hall, I would like to say: I know the difference. I appreciate your work, and please don't give up. I assure you once I make my computer up grade you'll have one more sincere fan. And I fully intend to get the stand-alone DayZ when it arrives. The approach to Zombie survival is wonderful, the open play is great, and although it may be hard at times to find others to work with, the benefits make it a worth while endevour. Please keep up the hard work, and for all our sakes, please don't ever resort to such a terrible game-pay style as "Free to Play, Pay to Win". The sparseness and hard work in your DayZ set-up, combined with the real-world survival simulation makes it a wonderfully needed new approach to the genre. Thank you again, and keep up the hard work.

This game got a 2.0. Who gives a shit? I do, however, want DAYZ! Great game.

Sounds like the makings of a good lawsuit

Once DayZ standalone comes out, everything will be just fine. At least 1.5 million PC gamers will get the game and nobody will be playing the WarZ ever again. Dean Hall has nothing to be depressed or worried about. The WarZ is shit and it always will be.

This is just an intelligent way to get some publicity before alpha testing starts for DayZ Standalone. He isn't actually personally affected by it. Well played Mr. Hall...

hang in there, just take some anxiety meds, surround yourself with friends and family and bear through it, once you get through the tunnel and out the other side it will all have been worth it.

I thought the War Z was Day Z standalone,,, but as soon as I found out it wasn't... instead I realized that this game was created by selfish poor game programmer who invented Big Rigs...another scam game he created. So next time IF you hear this Sirgay Titsoff person making some game, just don't buy them all together. Problem solved.

Well it's no secret that when the standalone version of DayZ comes out he'll make a killing.

When I first looked at Gamespot's review (2.0/10) the metacritic score for The War Z was a whopping 8 based on a few reviews (two reviews gave it 0, but I can't find them now for some reason). Now it's at 23/100 based on 8 reviews (user score at 1.3/10).

It's sad that Dean Hall is so personally affected by this, having family members and close friends thinking he's conning people. I can only hope that the best game wins commercially and that fans of this type of game don't hesitate getting Day Z because of what a POS The War Z turned out to be. This kind of risk taking that Dean Hall is doing should be praised.

Since people will inevitably not bother to read the actual article, I'll explain it.

Hall isn't mad that WarZ copied DayZ. He's stated multiple times that competition is good. What he's mad about is that the name and concept is so similar to DayZ that people confuse the two games, causing him to get a lot of undeserved backlash, even from his own family.
