Dead Space 3 Awakened DLC revealed

@Sefrix @gatsbythepig I didn't feel like you were pushing your opinion, in fact I totally respect it. I know where you are coming from, especially since I spent some time in college too(almost 12 years and a few degrees). I had a huge backlog of games( I completely missed the PS1) and I simply dismissed some, but I am almost caught up now and it only took a decade.

It is a tough choice to not purchase a product you have an interest in using. This time around I know I am 'feeding the machine', but I am usually frugal and despite what anyone else thinks, I really enjoy the Dead Space series.

@gatsbythepig I would agree it is still better than going to a movie, but I remember how good of a deal expansion packs were so I still refuse to DL DLC. I don't pretend to force my opinion onto everyone but I know it's not as good of a deal. With expansions it would be as big, or even larger than the original game and would cost $30 max. Now-a-days $30 nets you a couple of maps or a few hours of gameplay. Mind you there are exceptions, but I refuse to "feed the machine" so to say.

@Sefrix @gatsbythepig I actually avoided DLC for about 3 years. The idea of microtransactions irritated me. A friend sent me a points card and insisted I DL maps for Halo 3. I did, because he paid for it. That was the gateway spending for me. Since then I have DLed about 20 arcade games. Most of these games are my favorite games this gen. I got them all on sale, but it still bothered me that it is all digital and who knows if I'll be able to access any of the content next gen.

I weigh most game purchases against the price of a movie. A movie is about $12 for 2 hours of entertainment, and some aren't that great. If I get 5 hours of play time and it's enjoyable, I exceeded the amount of entertainment I would have received from that movie. Most of the arcade games were purchased for $5 to $8 and all but two of them have been played for 20+ hours.

In retrospect it has become clear that my favorite games of this gen, with the exception of a couple, are arcade games.

@gatsbythepig Smart shopping ;) I certainly can't speak for everyone but for me, with my family, a job, and college I don't have a ton of time to game so I always have a backlog waiting for me. And yes for me to not purchase DLC I have to just simply not buy it if it's not offered with game.

@Sefrix @gatsbythepig This time it doesn't really help. If I waited 3 months the price would come down to $39.99. I just purchased it for that price. Waiting 6 months might leave me at $39.99 or it could go as low as $29.99.As for a GOTY, I don't see that happening for DS3(I just bought Batman GOTY). It didn't happen with DS2 or Dead Space. It gets to a point where waiting too long just isn't worth it.

Overall though, some waiting is what I do. Tomorrow I'll pick up Hitman Absolution for $29.99 and in a month I'll buy Halo 4, but I'm still waiting for that season pass to be half price. I will not buy DLC for $25. I still have to play 3 arcade games that I DLed for half-price, which were originally the summer of arcade hits.

@Coren_Larken Kind of like how I purchased Dead Space 1 and 2 but won't be purchasing 3 but that doesn't matter because at least 5 people extra will take my place.
