E3 '07: Unreal Tournament III due in '07, PS3/PC exclusive 'til '08

Great! I'll still be getting it for the PC though. Somethings are better played with a keyboard and mouse *nods* But maybe I'll get it for the PS3 aswell. I mean, who knows, maybe it'll be better on the PS3. Well, I guess we'll just have to wait until it comes out.

this is bad for360. M$ need Epic more than Epic need M$. The irony in this story, Epic's biggest competitor is Killzone2 engine and PS3.

I am SO ready to play this game. I still play UT2K4, but it's age is rather evident. UTIII just looks scrumptious to me. As for it's PS3/PC exclusivity... I pity anyone who plays this kind of game on anything BUT a PC.

Maybe this will give me a little bit more time to get some money after all the games coming out this year. At least one every month from now on... Bioshock, Halo 3 and PGR4, GTAIV, Mass Effect for August through November. I'm gonna be broke.

That's very interesting about the importation of mods. I wonder if the 360 version will have the same capability or if Live will impede that somehow. Either way, I'll be picking this up for PC.

Sony did me a favour by delaying my UTIII purchase by a couple months. 2007 is already very crowded on Xbox 360. If this was a PS3 exclusive 100% I would have picked it up on Sony's platform...now I'll just wait.

Funny how all the PS3 fanboys forgot that this was orginally PS3/PC exclusive to begin with, and only later was it announced that it was coming to the 360. PS3 exclusive? LOL!, the 360 really stole another one from Sony. Oh well, in the mean time I'll be playing Ut2007 on my PC....where UT games belong!

lol, i think its funny how when a multiplatform game like oblivion/r6 vegas comes out later on the ps3, everyone cries foul saying it sucks having to play it later. and then when the ps3 gets a timed exclusive, i hear the exact opposite saying "Good, that gives me time to rest after all the Xbox 360 exclusives" or "This is even better for the 360, as now Epic can improve ut3 even further to make it better than the PS3 version"

Exclusive? Learn to read. UT3 will be released for the PS3/PC FIRST, then in 2008 be released for 360. It won't be exclusive to those two platforms, 360's version will just be released later. I plan to get the PC version after I upgrade my PC, my PC is four years out of date. XD

Yeap, I'll own this one for my new PC. DX 10 makes PS3 old news.

This is even better for the 360, as now Epic can improve ut3 even further to make it better than the PS3 version (nothing can toutch the Pc version) in terms of online play etc. However it is already easy to see that online will be much better on the 360 than on PS3. I mean really no online fps will ever be as good on the PS3 as on the 360. Oh an by the way I have both 360 and PS3 so I can compare the online experiences fairly and PS3 online is garbage compared to the 360 live experience.

omg, you people are morons first of all, 360 will get UT3 in 2008, so Sony only has it exclusive for a FEW months second, Microsoft will make huge amounts of money of GOW (pc) an indeed det more 360 fans from the PC fanbase GOW and GOW 2 will never hit the ps3, keep dreaming and i like how eveyone makes a huge deal of the exclusive deal PS3 has, the 360 gets the same benefit from nearly all 3rd party games when developers fail to release PS3 games on time due to its complexity, and Microsoft doesnt even have to pay money im not a fanboy, but to say PS3 has done anythng great is total BS

Sony proved at E3 that its not over yet and demoed that they are still focused on what the players want.

It's a big F.U. to Microsoft for making them charge for extra content on Gears probably haha. Yeah yeah I know it's on PC but I bet MS would rather have it on 360 than PC, because they don't make much or as much on PC right? It's just their OS and games for windows or whatever. Yuck_Too, all 07 exclusives are shooters for the PS3? You mean 3rd party or all exclusives? Ratchet and Clank, Lair, warhawk, Heavenly Sword are just some exclusive nonshooter.

Think about the networking component - Windows and PS3 are free-for-all networking environments, meaning Epic has full control over the net code and implementation. While Xbox360 and Windows share much of the same hardware and coding libraries, MS has control over the networking aspect via Xbox Live. At least, that's my theory.

You'd think they'd develop it for the XBOX 360 and PC first, since Unreal tournament games have generally only been for XBOX and PC in the past, excluding the PS2 version of UT 1999, which sucked big time. I personally will have a PS3 by the time the game is released, but I cant imagine playing Unreal tournamanet with a bad controller, a bad framerate, and bad loading times. Also, no points. And my PC blows, since games stopped coming out for the PC I stopped updating my hardware due to the fact that there simply is no point with the garbage coming out recently.

@ Yuck_Too Well yea alot of the games that were showed off today at E3 were FPS games but there were alot of action/adventure games too. Your talking about the japanese but you have to remember that TGS 07 is coming up soon (September?). TGS will most likely show plenty of rpg's including a new FF13 trailer for the PS3. Microsoft may want to fight back and steal the show here from Sony to increase their support in the asian market.

I think my 8800 GTX shouldn't have much problem with it...

I think this is a clever timed-exclusive for sony. Probably Epic realised that the sales would not be very good, considering the launch of Halo 3 in Spetember. Smart move Epic!

shakezilla460 They did not say unreal was exclusive to the ps3. I am not sure what show you were watching but it wasn't the one eveyone else saw. They said that they will be using the unreal tech to help get other games working properly on the ps3, just like they will be doing the same for games for windows for the pc. Just waned to get the facts straight.

Well one this is for sure...the PS3 fans can no longer call the 360 a shooter only platform...not since all the '07 exclusives for Sony are shooters. Japan will love this.

but here is also another notch in sony's belt besides the timed exclusive of Unreal 3.......the contract also stated that the Unreal Engine would be exclusive to the ps3 as well so we'll see how many more games the 360 gets after Unreal 3 microsoft really let all u fanboys down this is yr they sort of looked like they were stuck in place asking themselves what to do now....sony is way past all the crap of the first 8 months of launch we got our big titles and our big media and content coming out that will put us back on top end of story
