Konami promotes Kojima

What has Kojima done in comparison you ask? How about crafted time after time, some of the most compelling, genre defining moments of mixed gameplay/story telling in the history of gaming. For all the things Nintendo does great and new, they also hold on to much of the past...and it's been a while since I've seen a Nintendo game change the entire scope of gaming for me (Last time was Ocarina of Time, there have been better games since then, but none that blew me away like that did). Kojima blew me away with MGS on PS1, the story and cinematic presentation of MGS2 blew me away on PS2, and on PS3, I feel MGS4 is the perfection of the formula to almost every small detail. I'm not dogging Nin, I think they're just *another* bastion in the evolution of gaming, not the center of the universe...Kojima definitely deserves the award simply because of how hard he works, we all know Nin has gotten plenty so far.

BtnmHatesRbn, what does this have to do with Miyamoto? he is not mentioned once in the article. The man has devoted his life's work to perfecting his art, and he's done a good job. There is value in mastering one thing and not being a "jack of all trades", so stop drinking that haterade.

He's a one-trick pony that keeps re-making the same game over and over again, unlike Miyamoto, that has jumped from idea to idea over and over again, and has radically different design. Case is point is Kojima's games, be it Snatcher, Policenauts, or the Metal Gear series, has the same play mechanics and techniques applied over and over again, while Miyamoto has developed golf games, baseball games, racing games, various action games, RPGs, adventure games, first-person shooters (as supervisor only), 3-D games when the only examples were Alone in the Dark 1 & 2 on the 3DO, polygon co-processor (the Super FX chip), real-time rendered polygon games on a home console (StarFox and Stunt Race FX on SNES), working with Gumpei on Game Boy and Virtual Boy, brought back the analog stick, developed his own rendering software, engines and emulation, and has designed game systems. What has Kojima done? In comparison, nothing.

Who but Kojima-san can not only have the title "Corporate Officer Director" of his own branch of his company with Konami...but now he's got EXECUTIVE to add to that! Now that's crazy impressive, LOL. Hell matter a fact, what impresses me more is that I never knew--until now--that Kojima-san with the MGS series helped pushed $195 million in 9 months out of 2008 for Konami. Now that ain't one 'hundred' or one-hundred 'thousand'....no that's over 100 million, pushing close to 200 million!! Wow.... :shock: ....and see kids, THAT is how you earn you a lifetime achievement award--making games that stand the test of time in quality and artistry. Congrats, indeed goes to you and your success Kojima-san. Every bit of that is damn well earned!

He deserves every bit of it. His work is some of the best in the industry. I once referred to him as the "Isaac Newton" of gaming. He is a genius pure in simple. I cant wait to watch him accept his Lifetime Achievement Award:D

Nothing better than being a multi-millionaire, heavily-revered video game designer, AND having a snazzy corporate title like "Executive Corporate Officer Director"... I can't exactly tell what that means, does he direct Executive Corporate Officers? Or is he every one of those things all at once? Is it like being a Foxhound, Water Bear, Eagle and a Sloth? Or is he the Foxhound in charge of Sloths and Water Bears. This is starting to get as confusing as the plot of MGS4!

MGS is the best series in gaming history. As for Mr. Kojima congratulations on your new promotion! I wounder how much he makes a year.

Kojima is the EXACT opposite of Wada, a caring developer who puts fan before profit! I would have GLADLY payed an extra $20 for his games! In fact I think HE should be the absolute head of Konami! (Screw Wada, I hate him, and Capcom is soon to follow rout to)

Congrats to Kojima....this video game wizard !!! I want a port of Snatcher and Policenauts on actual consoles !!! We can only grab snatcher on the segaCD and we didnt see Policenauts in the US :( But...God Bless Metal Gear !!! :D

hideo kojima is the gaming industries visionary extrodinare for the creation of the metal gear series sega and a lot of developers can learn to excell in their skills to create better quality games for the consumers rather that to waste time and to fall short of the highest standards that they can achive. kudos to mr.kojima for setting such a high standard in leading the way.

If MGS4, was the first MGS game you have played then you need to go to your local gamestop and pick up 3 and 2 and 1. They are all amazing. But, I would suggest playing from the beginning.

Resident Evil never had the run and shoot gameplay go back and play the first game you'll see Can't wait for MGS5 and snatcher which is called sudatcher because suda51 is writing the script from grass hopper studios, Hail Hideo Kojima

I would expect nothing less for the man who has brought me the greatest game franchise I have ever played. Next for me would be Valve, but MGS games are just incredible, they have it all and have provided me with gaming moments I will never forget.

Really well deserved. MGS4 is an awesome game. All the MGS games games are awesome. I can't think of any other series that's influenced modern game design more than the MGS series. Kojima is a genius and a legend and I'm very happy his lifetime contribution is being recognized.

Metal Gear Solid 4 was the first MSG I ever played. It was without a doubt the greatest game I have ever played. They raised the bar so high Resident Evil 5 seems dated to me. Congrats Kojima!

@Gooshnads "i must say 10679 is the kinda Halo fanboy that hasnt even played MGS if he has then he's the idiot who doesnt like the new Resident evils either" you are wrong about that . i have played and finished all the MGS games and i find MGS 1 and 2 way better than mgs 3 and 4. to tell you the truth i find mgs3 to be worst out all the mgs games. Even though i have played and finished all halo games i am not a halo fan . i find all halo games ( halo 1- 3) to be one of most overrated games ever which is tied with GTAIV. i haven't played the full game of RE5 . i have only tried the demo of re5 and to me the game was dissappointing. For a third person shooter game that Re5 is the , controls mechanics is one of the worst controls ever created in the third person genre. i am sure that the game is alot of fun if you get use to the bad controls.

I hope to hear some exciting news from Kojima, he's awesome :)

I read on Gamespot's sister site, Impress Game Watch, that Konami is going to rename the company Kojinami. And all forthcoming games will be based on some element of MGS. Be on the look out for Castlevania Solid and Metal Gear Gas.

Kojima's work on the MGS series is one of the biggest influences to me that made me want to become a game designer.

pray that he starts working on the Next Zone of the Enders game very soon.
