Prototype pushed to 2009

Oh no, now I'll have to play GTA IV some more......

This paves way for me to play other games.

Makes sense. Too many big games out this year and to ensure it's a polished title. But next year will have God of War III and the Final Fantasies to contend with. :o

I was expecting this, i jst hope the end-product will be something AS remembered as GTA 4 or MGS 4

Maybe this is a good thing, there are too many great games coming out already and i wont have time to play them all.

who cares when it comes out. this game just better be as good as it looks... that is all that matters!!

wow, never saw this coming......ha. at the rate they're releasing vids and stuff and whats in the limited amount of vids is pre alpha stuff, this was to be expected. oh, well....at least it frees up some money this year for other games, or maybe some food...yum....pizza....

As long as the game is great it won't matter if it comes out next year.

well not surprising since most great games get bumped back anyway, so this delay may actually be good if they manage to make the game great. I'm also expecting Blizzard to break their 1 expansion a year promise and push WotLK to 2009. But if it is for the good of the games, then delays are good.

in other words, its to close for it to be released while people are still playing GTA

It looks like a great game, and i'd love to play it. But there are so many other good games coming out that I have will be playing. I only have so much time, so I don't really mind it being pushed back so that they can make it better. I really don't see my self running out of great games to play between now and the end of the year.

Name any GOOD/HIGHLY ANTICIPATED game that was released when it was scheduled....GTA IV was pushed back from its original date, Halo 3, MGS4, GT4 etc, etc, etc....These "release dates" are usually pushed back so im not @all surprised. Prayfully it turns out that the extra time will do justice.

Simply put, nothing could even be considered "Open-World" unless it comes within miles of GTA4. Fable tried the formula, and others have followed, but my experience with GTA4 makes every other game seem shallow. If they really want to create an open ended experience, they have an incredibly high bar to jump over.

careface. launch a sweet advertisement/preview on gamespot and then announce a delay one week later...typical.

Dang I was totally pumped for this game to come out in october and then this happened...=( Well atleast its gonna be a better game then it would have been if they released it this year.

might as well push it back cuz gta4 and metal gear solid 4 fallout 3 and saintsrow 2 got 2008 on lock

I bet just about anything this game got hit hard from GTAIV. The game looked pretty good about a week ago. Now looking at it I'm like, "eh." Not a bad thing, the same way games like Halo 2, Gears of War, Metal Gear Solid and even GTAIII forced evolution in their respective genres I think GTAIV has done it again. No longer is it acceptable to replace a good story with a open world and it there is less of an excuse for games like this to not have multiplayer.

DAMNIT! why do the good games always get pushed back when they are so close to the release date T_T but in the end i suppose it will make the agme better and possibly surpass GTA 4

I know that the PS3 is hard to make games for, but I don't feel that it had anything to do with this game getting delayed. I think its GTA4. The game has raised the bar for open world games and I feel that the developers felt that Prototype would not measure up to it. Now they are going to give it at least another year to make it better than GTA4. Time will tell.

sad but good. much better than it coming out and everyone abandoning the idea of it ever being good.

GTA has set the bar ladies and gents...the rest of the sandbox games need to check themselves before they wreck themselves.

Once again 360's users have to pay the broken dishes due to the CELL® processor's complexity. It wouldn't surprise me that the 360 version is already finished waiting whilst the developers struggle with the CELL®.

I hope they take there time on this game and make it worth sixth dollars.

As much as I want this game, I'd rather wait and see it get the treatment it deserves than be rushed and end up with a glorified demo(ala Crackdown).

Looks like Prototype will remain a "prototype" for now. However, if giving this title more time makes it better than more power to them.

Like Saint Rasmus said, more time for Fable 2. Besides, as long as the game is good, who cares how long it takes? You don't see people criticizing Prey or TF2 for having long dev times.
