Prototype pushed to 2009

Darth_Tigris Better to see these announcements now than Sep/Oct. Alan Wake may be next ... ======================================= God, is that game EVER going to come out? I was excited about it for a long while, but with the lack of info and the 'out there in limbo' devlelopment cycle, I could almost care less anymore.... Looks like Alone in the dark will cover that Genre of game anyways... For the most part.

I imagine that part of the problem is the inevitable comparisons to GTA4, despite the obvious differences between the two games. Still, this game has massive potential, so let's hope this is a sign that the publisher has realised that it was headed for a 7.0 scoring wasted opportunity, and have pumped in a load of money and some time to bring it up to scratch.

Radical has saved itself from the mistake ubisoft made with AC. It's a small difference and it will cost many months but in the end it will be worth it.

this game looks great but its a deffinet rent before buy for me.

i know this game is going to be good when it comes out and i am glad that they r taking more time and not rushing this game and making it come out and suck

This generation has only been around for 2 years. Sandbox games for the 360 and PS3 take a huge amount of time. A lot more time than ps2 and xbox, and sometimes it is impossible to gauge it.

Don't get too excited. While I like to see developers take their time, I have a feeling that this could become the next FEAR or S.T.A.L.K.E.R or Prey, or Frontlines, or perhaps even Dark Sector. Some game that spends years in development, gets delayed to hell and then comes out only to fall short.

Thats whay happens when you boast about your game now they have to live up to the hype or fail like two worlds did

While that is true, a game with great graphics AND great gameplay is better than a game with only good gameplay. Not only that, but to the general gaming public and more casual people pretty graphics sell.

Well I have GTA IV to keep myself more than sandbox satisfied until 09 (and perhaps Saints Row 2) so I'm just glad to see that they are going to work hard on this one to bring us the game as good as possible.

I'm not surprised... good concept but the game was looking rough around the edges. Some polish and further development will help deliver a better game.

they must have played gta4, and realized their game sucked.

it the delay makes the game better then whatever, i dont have a problem with it.

AWWWWWW that kinda sucks, but I can kinda understand the graphics arent that great and I was thinking from the latest video that I dont know if they can improve the graphics enough to not be critisized in the little time they had left. But they are delaying it so i guess i dont have to worry.

Tripwolf, I could just as easily say that they are doing it because The Xbox 360 and PC versions don't have enough disc space. Also, that is a shame because I was pretty excited for this game.

That's cool with me. I'm really looking forward to this game, and am happy that Sierra is taking its time with ProtoType. We can rest assured that its gonna be awesome after the wait though.

They delayed GTA4 because of PS3 development - bet the same thing is happening here.

well, theres plenty to keep us busy before then. the game does look like loads of fun

Grand theft auto IV will keep me plenty busy meanwhile

yeah im glad they r taking time...this game looks very very intresting...and i believe could be a really sick ass game if its pulled off right...so i will wait...hopefully this game will blow most others out of the water...i just hope this isnt a spiderman...god...

Wonder if the mayor of New York will begin to defend the city because of this game as well... (To anyone who doesn't know, he got offended by GTA IV just BASING the game off of NYC... Yet books/movies based there don't get criticized...)

Damn that's a shame. Though I guess it's better delayed now than last minute and disappoint us even more, or worse releasing it anyway when it's not ready. I guess this means the comic is gonna get put back too.

the begining of the delay. I expect Starcraft, Stalker, Spore, FarCry2, Warhammer Online, etc..to all get pushed to 2009. This is going to be an off year for many

Timeshift.

I see this as a good thing as it gives the developers moer time to make this bad boy a huge it at the time of its release. Rockstar did it now lets c if they can do the same!

@ftjx: Ditto. It's going to be a while before I forget the tale of Timeshift, and the benefits of "screwing the deadline". If Iron Man didn't HAVE to be released alongside the movie, they probably could've polished it up to a shiny 8.0 instead of a rusty 6.5 in my opinion. The fun is there, but the controls just can't keep up.

sure im sad that we have to wait another year but then again the delay to GTA4 helped the developers make the best game ever

It's still in pre-alpha, what the hell, how much time do they need I mean I'm all for the, more time = great game, but they could at least not tantalize us with all these cool videos, just to let our hopes get dashed by this. That's not cool man

i think the open world play will be better than GTA

i'm not sure about the open world "being better than gta4" but this delay is welcome in my book, i'll keep an eye out for this game
