Red Alert 3 for PS3 'on hold'

lol... Why does that not surprise me... Haha!! PS3 is a dog to develop on, you all know what I mean... Hope that they don't put the whole project on hold though, I wanna put me PC into action with this one!!! RA all the way!!!!

I bet the PS3 version is gonna get badly ported....Damn EA has no talent.

Actually the PS3 is the LEAST played in that age group. Perhaps you already knew that... hence once again you don't post a link. But I will for you. The title is. Since you brought it up... 62.73% of people 10-26 play on the 360 12.33% of people 10-26 play on the PS3 It isn't even close because most people would rather play the better version and that's usually on the 360. It's common sense and logical to do so. That older group does play the PS3 more than the younger group, because the younger group doesn't care how good the PS2 was and are not biased as a result of the PS2. I didn't bring any of this up, I wasn't trying to bash the PS3, but once again you speak about things incorrectly and must be corrected.

XBOX 360 has the most exclusive games, the most games period, the widest variety of games, the most RPG's, and the most highly rated games this generation. I wasn't planning on buying it for the PS3 anyways, and im sure most people were with me on that. But thats not because i don't own a PS3, which i do, its because RTS are best played on the PC. Hands Down. Not really that big of a deal. It does suck of course, but not as much as the getaway or eight days "being put on hold".

Again, I don't think gamers are buying consoles right now for 2-3 year old games. At any rate the games I have no time to play right now are GTA4, Condemned 2, Burnout, Lego Indy - All recent games either better or with no difference from the PS3 vs the 360. I bought Haze and finished it because if you pre-ordered and traded it in at EB games within a week you would get full credit back. It wasn't bad but I wouldn't have bought it if not for the promo. I'd rather play more Warhawk, or COD4, or finish Orange box for my FPS fix. Anyway, my main point is, what got is your console if you can't play on it. That's what changed my gaming habits. Last summer I would have recommended a 360, hands down. Now that the PS3 has come into it's own, there's no reason to buy a 360 now, unless you like paying subscription fees to have 12 year olds scream racial slurs at you while you play your 2 year old games. There's a better way! One day you'll understand, too. :)

The thing i don't understand with this is why EA would decide to can the PS3 version. The 360 has a lot of RTS games already and has a few more high profile ones coming such as Halo Wars. If they released it on the PS3 they would have little competition as right now RTS is hardly overflowing on the PS3 is it. So to me i find this strange. I also find it funny people complaining about the controls on consoles. If you are PC gamers then you of all people should be used to fiddly controls that you have to change multiple times until you find your sweet spot. I think having played games for nearly 20 years i have now got over the whole controls issues with games :)

@shadowhunter0 XBOX 360 isn't desgned for PC gamers. It's designed for people who don't want to spend $1000+ on a gaming PC. People who don't want to be bothered with installations, potential hardware incompadibility issues, and would rather game from their couches. So you're excluded.

As long as MGS4 is still coming out,I do not care.

That sucks, i was looking forward to this, oh well, hopefully ill have a gaming pc by autumn anyway.

@afro_samurai they do i remember when they where comparing the rrod 2 a very small problem with the ps3 that was user fault and not hardware fault but was making it seems worse then the rrod

Strategy games are notoriously difficult to translate to the console enviornment, not just because of the control scheme, but also because of the limited enviornment of system memory (a lot of units all moving and behaving independantly sucks up a lot of memory resources and can hammer the framerate with too many units at once). Memory is a particular chokepoint in the PS3, and since the graphics are already toned down significantly in an rts to take care of all those unit calculations, there isnt a lot of room to play with like in an fps or racing game where the dev can just cut out the HDR and complex lighting. Couple the complexity of programming around the hardware limitations of the PS3 with the fact that console rts's are only proven performers on the 360, while even fps's that should be hits have roundly flopped on the PS3, it was probably just a decision to cut their losses and move on.

It seems to me that Gamespot has something against the PS3 because I sure don't see them reporting on the issues with the 360.

Forza 2 the street car racing game in existence Doa 4 NG 2 out now Dead Rising Viva Pinata Overlord will soon be on PS3, but out now on 360 and cheaper Crackdown Command and Conquer3 Tiberium Wars Kanes Wrath this month Condemned Saints Row GTA IV for the exlusice content coming Ace Combat 6 Kameo Lord of the Rings BFMII Blue Dragon Culdcept Saga There are more, but that's just for starters. Those are all exslusives that you obviously haven't bought or played to make your H3 comment as if it's the only game. There are 12 new exlusives in the next 3 months including this month. Yet there you are buying Haze.... So, don't act like their aren't games out you haven't bought or player for the 360, because their are. You just choose to not buy them or play them because you've said you've got a "stack" of PS3 games. We know those aren't exclusives and for the most part aren't as good as the 360 counter parts. Which again makes no sense at all to choose them. The 360 version being better is not debatable. 12 games ranked at 90 or higher. The one title that stood out as a must play, Bioshock, is now coming to the PS3. I tried to lend a friend my 360 and Bioshock so he could give it a try, but he didn't bite. Other than that I don't think you need to rush out and buy a system for a handful of good exclusives that came out over a year ago. I think the PS3 is a better value, I like the Blu-Ray feature, and there are enough good games right now to keep any gamer occupied, and the free online is easily accessable to everyone. I don't think the 360 is a bad system, and gamers owe it to themselves to enjoy games like Gears and Halo, but that's not enough in my opinion, nor are the upcoming releases anything that I would personally recommend owning a 360 for. As far as personal tastes, I'm more looking forward to Fable 2 than MGS4 this year, but I already have a 360. If I didn't, I'd probably just pass on Fable 2 and find something to play on my PS3. The majority don't buy consoles for games that came out over a year ago.

this game started in pc and itll stay best on pc so doesnt matter really. not suprise that its still goin on for xbox360. im sure many ps3 owners arent really down on this cuz its not like a game that many ps3 owners were waiting for anyways. whats with all these comments on exclusvies? funny. well my 2 cents on exclusives... 98% of xbox360 games are either on / soon to be on PC or PS3, so PC+PS3=largest variety of games (excluding Wii of course becuz their games / graphics are meant for Wii only type thing). this is just my opinion btw lol

this whole exclusive arguement is stupid, its actually sony policy that they dont pay for exclusive, so all the metal gear solids etc are done on the ps3 because thats the only console the developer wants there game to be. i think that c&c dont wanna let their core fan base down which is there pc base and they know a ps version will take longer and they want this game for the holiday period which might take longer if they develop a ps3 version as well, the only reason 360 are getting it, is firstly they already developed another c&c game on there so they dont need to do another engine for it and controller interface etc they will just use the same one and secondly, its very easy to port the pc version onto the 360, therefore it wont take them much time and can develop a a 360 version in time for christmas. nintendo dont pay for exclusives either, its only MS who do, mainly because they came so late into the console business stuff like sonic mario metal gear devil may cry etc were allready established business and had to pay the big money to get the devs making the console sellers for them, in 5 yrs time when i recon the fan base will be much more 50 - 50 between 360 n ps3 MS wont just chuck money at devs to make them games they will have their catalog of games like gears n halo n ps will have theres like killzone n metal gear solid, everything else will be mulit plat as devs wont wanna make a game for only half of their potential market, and theres only about 30 million next gen systems out there now, when theres nearer 80 million then profits will be much bigger and therefore more incentive to make games on both systems. personally quite gutted about this game not being on ps3, i kno it will be better on pc but i just prefer online experience and esp with the rumoured in game xmb its just easier to play with friends and stuff other a ps3/360 than on a pc but oh well, civilzation comes out next week, i love that game and will get that to keep me occupied.

RTS for consoles really does not suit well, so i'm gonna buy for PC version but before releasing improve it much even if it is delayed, and it has also an expansion, because EA always have expansion!

@ darkride66 For a Sony Fanboy who's a hard-core enthusiast & loyalist I didn't think you had it in you to realize an obvious fact & say something positive about the 360. Kudos... On another note, I just heard Sony had another press conference... Sony is puting Sony on an indefinite hold until all their key execs can manage to pull their heads out of their own arses. It's a shame that a system with all of that promise is going through all of this. Someone should call Child Protective services out to Sony headquarters & take all of their children away from them... PS2, PSP, & PS3 until they can become suitable parents. The Nintendo will be given tempporary guardianship since they have been such great parents & raised good & productive systems with little to no problems that have made other people very happy for the past 20 years.
