Respawn's first game an always-online Xbox 720 exclusive?

@deathstream @Hvac0120 Microsoft's approach grosses me out. Sony and Nintendo incubate to make sure their exclusives shine, while Microsoft basically goes to the mall and picks out the prettiest (most commercial) one. Sony and Nintendo games are usually planned and developed as exclusives. Microsoft swoops in to turn multiplats exclusive through sheer force of $$$.

I would still be upset if this game was Playstation exclusive. It's not about fanboyism. I'm disappointed in the idea that the game would be always online and exclusive; doesn't matter which platform.

To be clear though: Microsoft doesn't own very many studios. They bought up a bunch of developers and ran them all into the ground. So they have to put that money into buying exclusivity from 3rd parties.

Sony has several 1st party studios that have created some of the most unique and highly acclaimed properties over the past few console generations. Sony has been more focused on DLC exclusives for multi platform games than securing specific 3rd party games. Sure; they still throw out the money when they think its worth it.

Nintendo also has several 1st party studios that create some of the most memorable characters and games. Nintendo seems more reserved when it comes to tossing money at 3rd parties which is why there aren't many 3rd party exclusives on a Nintendo console.

Both are spending a lot of lot of money to keep games away from the competition. If you think only one is greedy, you need to check yourself into a clinic to cure your delusional fanboyism.

I embrace new video games. I dont poo-poo them until I've played them, read a review, or AT LEAST seen some substantial gameplay footage.

Lots of people play single player campaigns in games. So, Idk where you have been locked up for the past few years, but people love single player campaigns.

@dussan2 @malokevi I meant that whether the game has solo modes that can be played offline or not, it gives no evidence for whether it is going to be an always online console.

Both "always online" or otherwise can have solo and multiplayer modes. The fact is it didn't need mentioning. And definitely not referring to it like a well known fact.

If a game is specifically sold as an exclusively online multiplayer that is what you will get of course, but they don't even know if it is yet, as he said above.

I think if six new exclusives for the new Xbox turn up, all with online only content that might be a reasonable time to consider that Microsoft has gone the always online route but not until the 21st will we know for sure.......I've just realised I have an exam while the announcement goes live.........**** my life.........I can't actually believe I didn't realise..........!
